There’s nothing wrong with a game being easy. Games are supposed to be fun. Even challenging games should be fun, fun should be the number one aspect of playing a game. Compare to Dynasty Warriors 5, the 4th and previous games seem to be difficult for me; I cannot control my character's direction once he/she locks on to attack an enemy (Normal Attacks followed by a Charge Attack). Was the lock-on mechanic from the previous game a difficulty issue or flawed game design? Also, Diao Chan in PS2 was weak? Was it a mistake to select her weapon after clearing Destiny Mode (DW5XL)?
Honestly I don't know how to feel about this because I play 3 when I was younger and I kept up with the franchise till this day, but the difficulty back then was very interesting. But now it's just what elements and attributions you can combine to make the weapon stronger. Personally, I hated the fact that they made 9 like that and made it a open world and Change the moveset. It's just doesn't fit the Dynasty Warriors at all. But hopefully they will fixed that.
I enjoy the new games but I can't deny the fact that they are easy as fucking piss. I've literally been grinding ophichulas tower in warriors orochi 4, the hardest piece of content in the entire game, for over 100 hours now to finish off the last achievement and ive been doing it while watching youtube/netflix without dying once. The older games used to have AI that would fight back! I like thinking about what I have to do when fighting an enemy rather than just spam Y/Triangle to kill everything like I have been in WO4. Not to say I don't like the new games, but I regularly go back to the old ones when I want to experience a warriors game that I actually have a risk of dying in.
After playing DW5 and XL again recently I'd say part of the issue was how young I was. Now a days the games are definitely easier, you have far more attacks and normal soldiers do far less attacks.
Honestly, I think the game is great the way it was at Dynasty Warriors 8, by the time you get to the super overpowered build you've already dumped hours and hours of gameplay and gotten your money worth, I remember grinding Dynasty Warriors 2 some characters to max out on every stats, this included the defense which took the longest, you could wash Lu Bu in just a few hits once you did this. I would rather see more story content and hypothetical story routes in future games. I enjoyed Lu Bu story and think some other characters deserve their own like the Yellow Turbans and Yuan Shao.
I can definitely see why my friends were talking about how the games are getting much more easier now but honestly I'm still having fun despite being ridiculously easy because it decreases the fact of how long it will take to kill officers if they have really long health bars. I honestly don't think that they will make the games any more difficult because they still have to get out of that rot of DW9 and game that tries to fix everything but failed AKA Warriors Orochi 4. As it is it all depends on the luck of the draw. In the meantime I'll still enjoy dynasty Warriors 8 extreme legends complete.
I remember back when I was playing Dynasty Warriors 3 I was playing as Da Qiao on the stage where Pang Tong dies. Anyways, I was fighting the normal privates and when I encounter a fucking STRATEGIST, A GENERIC STRATEGIST AND GET MY SHIT FUCKED UP AND DIE IMMEDIATELY! I don’t know how much Da Qiao was leveled but I don’t think it matters. I got my shit kicked by a fucking strategist... it was a lot better than nowadays. Please Koei, remaster the classic Warriors games!
In regards to the “useless Ai ally’s” argument, i’ve found in DW8 Empires, 90% of the time your allies are useless and always seem weaker no matter how much of an advantage you have, I always end up setting them to defend unless I can back them up myself, but then I’m just doing all the work
Actually setting them to defend is not as efficient as I have seen the AI take bases by themselves many times and this provides a scapegoat to distract the enemy while you hammer their main base. A good offence is the best defense in Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires, believe me, the AI suck so bad at defense that it's pointless to even try.
Your allies in DW8E can actually be devastating. Especially on higher difficulties when your stats are low, your allies can absolutely DEMOLISH enemy officers if you get them to focus you while your allies attack them from behind. And if you gang multiple allies on one officer? It's an absolute slaughter-fest as they just death combo him from full health.
Idk about useless 7 and 8 Empires seem to be the best ai from thise vase games especially if you're in earlygame hell or underpowered. And if you have them gain on 1 officer or base its a guaranteed kill except the commander since it's scripted to only you being able to land the finishing blow. But if you're keeping officers distracted they'll waste no time handling the peons in the base you're in or not.
Was it in DW7 where Xiahou Yuan's 4th Weapon + EX attack would insta kill any officer, even on Hard? I remember abusing it to unlock other character's 4th Weapons.
I am a tourist with these. I own many as I collect games played very few. What is the best example of the series? Just finished a review of Judge Dredd Dredd vs Death 💀 on XBOX. Fun ride.
Tbh i like both difficulty ways. The old way made everything balanced and so peons and officers were both both dangerous. But newer games make the officers the real challange with peons being more of a mimor thing. People want allys to do more, so you want the allys to win battles for you? That doesnt sound too fun to me ngl. I just wish they removed the buff items as tbh i dont like them
Yea that's old fans main problem they stay mad and complain that the newer titles are so different from what they played over 2 decades ago but can never accept that games like DW7 and 8 just have to be played differently since the focus is more on officers. Plus difficulty for warriors games are never brought up until you mention you like the newer titles then all of a sudden everyone played Warrior games for its difficulty
@@treaon511 tbh i dont think one is better then the other, the older style is more realistic with everyone being a danger but the newer titles sell the power fantasy more as a warrior who mows done everyone in their way. Tbh i wish theyd include both as an option in a future game, all that needs to he changed is health and aggression. Maybe then people can choose which style they want
i feel like the difficulty should come from base capturing and defending ur bases. How to accomplish this? idk lol. maybe have the AI be smart enough to take key command posts.
Havent played in a while but 1 way to know if its too easy if you defeat Lu Bu easy. He ply would be the hardest to defeat out of anyone imo Also as a side note, if you are playing the historic version certain characters you shouldnt be able to beat no matter how more powerful your army is
That says alot considering he can still 1to 3 shot you in your first encounter and still have super armor(take Weis first stage in 8) but it's just the fact that unlike in previous titles certain characters can cheese him as long as they keep him stunlocked or keep musou spamming him. Take Cao Cao first example in that stage you can beat him as long as you keep freezing him with his charge attacks whereas with xiahou dun it's almost impossible.
I think it's got a decent amount to do with the fact that DLC exists now too. Before they might have thought, jeez, If we make a game too easy and they have nothing to do then how in the world are they not supposed to trade the game in, so they do things like make extreme legends, where you need to have both discs to get the extra stuff. Now, why make a game hard? Get the player to stomp through all of the content, remember the times they used to get new outfits just from playing, now make them buy it, those old stages they loved? buy it, and now if you decide to trade it in you have like 40 dollars of dlc you can't get rid of. They double dipped and now the next guy has to do the same. Personally though... I enjoy not being beat to heck by foot soldiers... they drop nothing, hurt too much and waste my time. Getting wombo comboed by a single enemy on the first sengoku basara game in persuit of joke weapons was something I would just sit under the shower head after dealing with. Plow through the whole stage and now this underpaid major wants to be a freaking gate guardian and wreck my life... Same goes for dynasty warriors and all of the highly trained ninja assassins who all come together to swipe you off of your horse... Bro you have been dancing to your own beat for like two minutes, I get on my horse one time and you get triggered. I do still miss the old games though, where just playing it and knowing where stuff was could make your character stronger. But I will say the newer games of all types has the idea of co op done a little better. If someone likes a character I care nothing about they can just dump extra money into them and make them worth something instead of having me have to escort them through a torture stage just so I can get stronger too. But I really stopped enjoying the games because it's not as pleasurable to defeat the enemies, I know it was completely cheesy but I liked watching the people I stomped on have a silly run away cutscene or horribly done death scene, made it mean a little more. And I'm not even going to talk about archers or musket troops... Or miscreants / strike ninjas... But, after playing through a ton of them... it makes me like 9 even more. 9 is just, kill everything, fast travel everywhere, make any weapon I want. Bring my other character as a bodyguard. Things I wish the series would have done while keeping a concise story and gameplay mechanics... but nowadays, you ask someone to do more, they hand you a bill. I'm tired of paying extra for stuff that should have been in the game. I can only hope that they do better, but as of right now, nothing really exists like that outside of MMOs... Too many games feel the same to me. I really wish capcom would stop hiding sengoku basara from everyone... They should be proud of it. It just needs to be on a bigger scale.
Lazy AI programming for officers aside from mega high stat death sticks (DW4XL AI is the one I mean tends to be better due to not relying on massive stat death sticks) Broken attribute combinations to where characters who can't abuse any part of those will just be forced to die on the higher difficulties Lovely.
Yeah, however it is possible to play the hardest stages with the trash characters on 8XL (I've gotten all 5th and 6th weapons on ultimate) I wouldn't call playing as them enjoyable though lol
I think It's same for every singel long running series either they always being new so the fanbase is sperate like final fantasy or they need to make appeal for newcomer by being more grasp able that why for long fans dw Will think the game Will be easier for every iteration because every new iteration need to be selling something out
I agree that feeling overpowered is nice. But my go to game for that is Fire Emblem Awakening. I invested all boosting items to my avatar and she can win all missions on her own and even tho usualy you can only kill one enemy per turn she can easly kill two because of disgusting skill that if you manage to kill your enemy in the turn(which she does) you get second move. Only weakness she has is that good archer could one shot her, but because her agility is do god damn high she always avoids attacks.
I think some people kinda role play certain ways to make it more enjoyable like DW9, I’ll never move through Red bases, gotta spread all my blue bases lol
I think they are too easy now. I would love a new dynasty warriors that takes direct inspiration from 3 or 4 or even 5, in terms of balancing AI difficulty with your moveset, and the morale system. In the new games, what you are capable of in your moveset completely demolishes foot soldiers, whereas the originals made you feel as though you couldn’t just take on a huge group by yourself without really working for it. It also gave a greater sense of realism.
undeniably there is no intelligence in AI design of DW games. they only hit harder on later difficulties but really no strategy so i wondered why they don't make the stages itself become the challenge. in newer DW i'm just running around willy nilly killing officers that i can see on the map. these games are about war so they should make use of that aspect that yes, you can easily stomp AI foot soldiers and fodder officers but there should be some sort of decision making where you will go to prevent your side from being overwhelmed or if your army got to certain threshold, you lose. in new DW games, i feel like i'm just farming officers around the level.
DW 5, SW empires 2, is the best so far for me, just because I think this does not mean I paid for 7,8,9 because I did not. DW 6 empires was the last time I paid for a DW game. DW 6 empires was a massive disappointment and DW 6 was flawed. Combat took a nosedive, and every part of empires was worse than SW 2 empires. I've been watching these games every 2-3 years to see if anything changed to bring me back. So far no, but DW9 has a trail so ill try it.
Funny thing but it seems like Koei just doesn't give a toss for its main series anymore, be it quality, difficulty or anything. Just throw it all in the trash. Meanwhile, their side games and side efforts show glimpses of effort and what you'd want from a diffiulty spike, like New Gundam Warriors did, how Pirate Warriors 4 is seemingly easier now but only if you decide to play like a DMC player coked up on speed and extacy.
All I ask is that they have the officers actually attack instead of standing there and blocking. If u compare Dynasty warriors 8's ai to Dynasty warriors 9 or even Orochi 4 Ultimate, nobody is really attacking anymore. I got my ass handed to me on normal difficulty of Dynasty warriors 8 cuz I wasn't prepared for the Officer to actually attack and combo me. Another thing they could do is not make the peon soldiers stun when attacking. One Piece Pirate warriors 4 did a decent job of it. The peons were still a bit threatening if u stood in them and if u were under leveled then they were a real threat.
I think Dynasty Warriors 3 and 4 were a great middle ground. Everything after was too easy and Dynasty Warriors 2 is amazingly hard bullshit. I’m actually gonna play 2 now
If I wanted a challenge, I'd rather play something along the lines of Ninja Gaiden, not Dynasty Warriors. Dynasty Warriors combat system isn't really refined enough for it to be considered a challenging experience, it's more of a cathartic experience. The entire combat of Dynasty Warriors comes down to musou timing and performing infinite combos (which usually means spamming the same attack string over and over in most cases) which are so unbelievably easy to do that even the AI do it to you sometimes. So making Dynasty Warriors easy is the solution to this problem because let's face it, if you play these games on high difficulties, it gets very frustrating due to the fact that the gameplay is completely unbalanced and broken. Stuff like regular soldiers stabbing you from behind, staggering you only for the nearby officer to infinite combo you and bring you down to low health are common in the earlier Dynasty Warriors games and in a game where battles can be 30+ minutes long with no checkpoints... this can get really annoying fast. I think Omega Force realized this and dumbed the games down intentionally, playing to the series' strengths. I mean you still have Chaos difficulty so the newer games aren't completely devoid of difficulty but honestly, the reason why people play Musou games in the first place is to turn their brains off and press buttons for a few minutes to kill some time and to relax after a hard day's work. They're kind of palette cleansers to some people as well, something you can just pick up and play without needing to concentrate too hard. Some people also play it simply because they enjoy progression and musou games provide that feeling of progression like no other. Musou games are also really cathartic, I don't know about you but simply charging through a battlefield, mowing down enemies effortlessly with flashy moves is quite satisfying to me. So Dynasty Warriors has its audience, it doesn't need to be challenging to cater to the people who enjoy it. That being said I do think that there should be a ROT3K Nioh style game for people who want that level of challenge in their games.
I really do miss the dubs I hate the weebs for complaining about the english voices which werent even that bad in fact some of them were pretty good. I also miss the vanilla DW games since they did require a brain. I been saying this for the longest that they should make a DW generations with all variations of each character from the earlier games up until DW 8 XL.
i mean, they werent good. but they werent bad. im pretty sure they stopped translating cause it saves money. The developers are japanese and live in japan after all. Dynasty warriors only comes in english and japanese lol. so i think this is further evidence of my assumption.

3:46 is that the PC version of DW5? Can somebody tell me how to get that?
It's not DW5, it's DW3
Honestly I don't know how to feel about this because I play 3 when I was younger and I kept up with the franchise till this day, but the difficulty back then was very interesting. But now it's just what elements and attributions you can combine to make the weapon stronger. Personally, I hated the fact that they made 9 like that and made it a open world and Change the moveset. It's just doesn't fit the Dynasty Warriors at all. But hopefully they will fixed that.
American fans complain it was the same game over and over is the reason we have games like 6 and 9 in the 1st place 🤷♂️
On DW8 I used to use 3rd weapons without any attribute on highest difficulty. The game was more fun. I'll try to do that with Samurai Warriors 4-ii
After playing DW5 and XL again recently I'd say part of the issue was how young I was. Now a days the games are definitely easier, you have far more attacks and normal soldiers do far less attacks.
2-4 are hard 5 is easy and that's where they really started getting easier.
15:20 Anyone is going to feel safe around Lianshi. ;3
3:34 yea but that's the point if having hundreds of troops and body guards on your side as well
I can definitely see why my friends were talking about how the games are getting much more easier now but honestly I'm still having fun despite being ridiculously easy because it decreases the fact of how long it will take to kill officers if they have really long health bars.
God wish I could play 4 and 5 again 😭
I don't think so, He had the bow in DW7 and his EX attack was where arrows rained from the sky which was mainly good for mobs
It's sad how many of the spinoffs are actually more difficult than the main series nowadays.
Imagine Dynasty warriors 3 AI in the new dynasty warriors 9? Bruh. It would be an interruption nightmare
I am a tourist with these. I own many as I collect games played very few. What is the best example of the series? Just finished a review of Judge Dredd Dredd vs Death 💀 on XBOX. Fun ride.
Dynasty Warriors 4 and Dynasty Warriors 8
Never played any DW below 6, but i do play SW2 and i remembered it being actually difficult
"Could you imagine every level with this aggression?"
DMC's Legendary Dark Knight does this and it's amazing.
except that's in DMC and not a warriors game, which doesn't have a advanced mechanics or gameplay...
Dynasty Warriors 3 Xtreme Legends, and Samurai Warriors 1 (original) will always make me rage on the hardest difficulty. . .
i feel like the difficulty should come from base capturing and defending ur bases.
How to accomplish this? idk lol. maybe have the AI be smart enough to take key command posts.
I think we need an pause menu to give orders and maybe even split troops between areas as we see fit.
Havent played in a while but 1 way to know if its too easy if you defeat Lu Bu easy. He ply would be the hardest to defeat out of anyone imo
Also as a side note, if you are playing the historic version certain characters you shouldnt be able to beat no matter how more powerful your army is
That says alot considering he can still 1to 3 shot you in your first encounter and still have super armor(take Weis first stage in 8) but it's just the fact that unlike in previous titles certain characters can cheese him as long as they keep him stunlocked or keep musou spamming him.
You should try the Dynasty Warriors Origins Demo
Lazy AI programming for officers aside from mega high stat death sticks (DW4XL AI is the one I mean tends to be better due to not relying on massive stat death sticks)
Broken attribute combinations to where characters who can't abuse any part of those will just be forced to die on the higher difficulties
Lovely.
Yeah, however it is possible to play the hardest stages with the trash characters on 8XL (I've gotten all 5th and 6th weapons on ultimate) I wouldn't call playing as them enjoyable though lol
Wow, I didn't know there was a difference. I've played DW4 Hyper on PC for my whole life but now I really want to try PS2 version's balance as well.
I think It's same for every singel long running series either they always being new so the fanbase is sperate like final fantasy or they need to make appeal for newcomer by being more grasp able that why for long fans dw Will think the game Will be easier for every iteration because every new iteration need to be selling something out
Is it possible if you can do a review on Gintama Rumble or One Piece Pirate Warriors 4
Love DW8 because of Lu Lingqi.
Hot take 5 was good but not great and it started the trend of easy warriors games.
I played some DW3 recently, got stuck on second stage...
That being said I do think that there should be a ROT3K Nioh style game for people who want that level of challenge in their games.
i think to avoid unfairness, the difficulty should come from base captures. Like a tug of war with the AI
Actually we need a new one
I really do miss the dubs I hate the weebs for complaining about the english voices which werent even that bad in fact some of them were pretty good. I also miss the vanilla DW games since they did require a brain. I been saying this for the longest that they should make a DW generations with all variations of each character from the earlier games up until DW 8 XL.
i mean, they werent good. but they werent bad.
im pretty sure they stopped translating cause it saves money. The developers are japanese and live in japan after all.
Dynasty warriors only comes in english and japanese lol. so i think this is further evidence of my assumption.
yeah newer dynasty warrior games are boring to me. They're way to easy. I was really disappointed with warriors orochi 4. It's wayyyy too brain dead. I'm mostly playing DW4, DW5 Xtreme and DW6 right now.. Screw the newer ones
lol especially the new god characters and the magic items..
I had no idea you were a warriors fan too awesome
Far to easy, I literally play it on chaos and clear it no problem and not someone who plays games on hard 😂 when I play dynasty warriors 3-4-5 I be lucky to clear it on normal haha unless I do free mode the whole time bulid up my character.
games in general regardless of franchise are easier now. Blame twitter mobs.
Don't pursue Lu Bu
Play dw3 and dw4 u will quit. The Ai is getting powerful as u level up and gained same stats as you such increase Health, defense, attack.
Honestly, they've been too easy since 4. I've been playing since DW2, I haven't paid attention to archers since 3.
