  • In this video, I break down the basic process of locating the stronghold after leaving the nether. I do my best to explain triangulation in a simple way and provide a couple ways to practice some of the techniques. In the last few minutes of the video, I review the math used to make the triangulation calculations.

    For those struggling with the 17.5 blocks, the way I've worked out to do it as follows:
    Hold crouch. Jump forward 25 times in a row while continuing to crouching. After your 25th jump, release the forward and jump buttons, but keep holding crouch, so that you stop pretty much where you land. Still holding crouch. Do one more forward jump. That should put you close to 17.5 blocks distance fairly reliably, so long as it's over a level distance.
    If you did a 26th crouch jump without stopping, it puts you too far forward. Coming to a complete stop removes all your momentum, so that the next jump is a shorter distance.

    Btw. the angle chart can be summed up by saying 1000 / _angle difference_ = amount of blocks the stronghold is in

      @@faserrblx4299 The answer to your question is, kind of... I made a video discussing how you can use the pie chart to locate fortresses and other things, but it’s based on chunk distances (which can be converted to blocks). The issue is we use the pie chart to locate spawners in the nether which indicate either a fortress or treasure bastion. There are ways to tell the difference, but something to be aware of. If you’d like more information, check out this video: ua-cam.com/video/6F7WiMfr7Zo/v-deo.html

What i do is count how many footstep audios there are and stop at 10, of course if you had reliable enough hearing you can just listen for them too. This is good for flat areas for sure but im sure it would also work for slopes and inclines.

    I feel really stupid for asking this, but -
    When it comes to turning 90 degrees, is there a simple rule to mentally calculate the degree you should jump 17,5 blocks in when your turn takes you across + and - ? If, for example, I'm looking at 163 degrees and I definitely should turn to the right (because of bad terrain to the left), it's cumbersome to have to add up to 180 / - 180(giving a difference of 17 degrees used, leaving 73 to subtract from - 180), to then subtract the remaining degrees from 180 (- 180 - 73 = - 107) to find the degree to jump in.
    Something like 36 degrees + 90 degrees = 126 degrees is obviously much quicker and easier.

    • @boomerplayz7086
      @boomerplayz7086  3 роки тому +2

      It's definitely not a stupid question for the exact reason you point out. Since we are only traveling 17.5 blocks, if we are off by a few degrees one way or the other when trying to estimate 90 degrees, it won't have a huge impact on the results. Starting off, I would try to be as precise as possible, but found it's not super important. What I've been doing lately, when it's a situation like your example, I look straight down at the block I'm standing on (making sure I'm still facing the initial angle), then visualize what 90 degrees would be, rotate, then look up and travel 17.5 blocks. Does that make sense?

    • @magicalmysteryollie
      @magicalmysteryollie 3 роки тому +1

      @@boomerplayz7086 Ah okay. Yep, makes sense. It's great cus that definitely makes it less cumbersome if you don't need to be right on the dot with this part. I'll try this in practice some. Thanks!

    • @boomerplayz7086
      @boomerplayz7086  3 роки тому +1

      @@magicalmysteryollie I’d say the most important thing is to be as accurate as possible when checking the angle of travel of each eye, the second most important piece is trying to travel as close to 17.5 blocks as possible and the 90 degree part would be third.
