  • Decoding and opening of a pushbutton key cabinet.
    This cabinet is sold to use with a spare key. Giving multiple users access to the key, without the need for giving them their own key copy.
    But it is not really good made, and the locking mechanism offers low security. So keep in mind the risk of unauthorized access when installing one like this.
    The cabinet used in this video is a "No-Name", but equal cabinets is sold under varies names. They all have the same security flaw as exploited in this video...

    Drove around with this box in my truck for a week just trying random numbers with no success. Searched today and found this video & in a minute it was open. Too easy!
    Thanks bro.

    I have a supra-c lock box that I had forgotten the combination to. I tried this method several times with no luck. I kept at if for a little while and started keeping track of the numbers that slipped down most often under varied pressure. I found that it was easier to just work one row of numbers at a time. There were three numbers that kept coming up. I wasn't able to feel or pick the 4th number so It was a matter of using those 3 numbers and then the unused numbers (7 of them) as the last number. It opened right up on the 3rd try. It doesn't matter what order you enter the code numbers it to open the lock. Now I have written the code on the back of the lock (just kidding).Thanks for the help Norseman Lockpicker.

    Thanks for the video. We had one at our house but at some point someone had changed the combination years ago and we have not been able to use it. It has been an eyesore before we watched your video. Many thanks.

    Okay. Math time for all of you people saying there's only 158 or some odd number of combinations.
    This is a bank of switches, each in either in an "on" or "off" position. 1 or 0.
    This is essentially a binary counter with 10 places.
    Therefore, there are 1024 combinations possible, including all zeroes and all ones.
    Happily, if you're unable to get results using Norseman's method, you just have to be able to count in binary and remember the last number you tried. Keep going until you get it, assuming that you have time.
    Also, you can't read the set mechanism when you shine a flashlight into the back of it if the card covering the set mechanisms is in place.

      the difference is your example order matters but with these the order doesn't matter so the combos reduces significantly

    • @RogueSpidor
      @RogueSpidor 8 років тому +3

      +Tim Linden the order doesn't matter in my example either. you can toggle the positions in any order you want. the result is the same.
      For example, for binary number 42, you get 101010. Pins 2, 4, and 6 are set. You can push them in any order you like (4, 6, 2 works just as well as 2, 6, 4) but it's still the same number.
      There are 10 places. If all 10 are pressed, then it's the binary equivalent of 1023. All zeroes is just zero. This gives 1024 possible combos, 1023 useful ones, and you can press the combinations in any order you want.

      Norseman Lockpicker WORKED LIKE A CHARM on a MasterLock key cabinet. Took about 30 seconds. It's all about the amount of pressure. Thank you. You saved me from having to call a locksmith because i had locked the keys to my rental property inside of the lockbox and forgot the code.

    hi
    we have one like this
    GE Access Point Keysafe original No 001004
    and cannot open it
    the kids set the code but didn't write it down
    the set tool is inside
    we tried your way but couldn't get it open
    do you have any more ideas please?

    • @NorsemanLockpicker
      @NorsemanLockpicker  7 років тому +1

      Karena Brady, try to alternate the tension pressure. Find just the tension where you are able to push down the buttons. As all tings, it takes a bit of practice. You might benefit from having another lock to practice on.

  • @OldBenOne

    This method does not work on this model. I have it in hand and have disassembled it. The buttons are not the top of the locking pins, but are separated from each one by a spring. When you move the opening lever it first isolated the buttons from the pins, then contacts the pins themselves. This prevents any possible feedback at any tension. I believe your success was due to confirmation bias. To truly test your method I would suggest to either blindly spin some of the screws a random number of times or have another person set the code.

      Old Ben I have tried on several lock. Had someone else change the code, and got it to work. Keep on mind that this is a few years ago. So hopefully this weakness is corrected by the lock manufacturer.

    it won't work.. when I am able to push one button down then the button opposite pushes down too and after that it makes the rest of the buttons push able

    • @NorsemanLockpicker

      Play around with different tension. It sounds like you're using a bit to light tension.

    • @NorsemanLockpicker
      @NorsemanLockpicker  9 років тому +1

      If no buttons is bound up, you apply to little tension. You'll have to find the right amount of tension to lock up some buttons, but not all. Good luck with your lock.

    • @MagicNarcosis
      @MagicNarcosis 9 років тому +1

      I actually had no luck with this, but went through a list of combos instead. There are only 160 or so combination possibilities since you don't need them in any particular order. Thanks anyways!

    • @NorsemanLockpicker
      @NorsemanLockpicker  9 років тому

      It takes some practice. So if you only needed to open it once to recover the key... Then it's good that it's not a very secure cabinet. But again. If you're interested in the manipulation part(the locksport) of the lock. Keep practicing, and you'll make it happen ;o)

  • @justhuman9323
    @justhuman9323 9 років тому

    Not if you know the combo, already its easy other then that we end up with sore fingertips.

    • @NorsemanLockpicker
      @NorsemanLockpicker  9 років тому

      No. If you adjust the tension, it's a relatively easy lock design to manipulate.
      But you have to be able to hold constant tension. Just a bit less tension to prevent all buttons to lockup completely.
      Many people have been able to get this to work. So all it takes is a bit of practice. But it doesn't hurt to have some experience with locksport. And an understanding of the lock design.

    using a ultra violet light to see which buttons are pushed more often and then you can find your combination code.
