Sounds badass, Is this updated on the head rush Pedal board too? I should have this. I have the engls. I'm trying to build a good metal rig but I don't know about the boosts etc
For some reason I got in my head that I needed a modeling pedal, despite having tons of VSTs and such. After lots of researching the various options I ended up with one of these and I'm actually really impressed. I was fully prepared to be disappointed comparing this to high end VST amp simulators but it actually sounds and feels really good to play. Not really big sold on the bass stuff (including the new DG preamp) but I could see it being a goto for guitar tones.
Interested to see if post-release updates like this will keep coming or what. Realistically you've got most every hallmark sort of amp/pedal you could really want especially with adding the Engl but the HM-2 is a bit conspicuous by its absence for one thing. Suppose we will see!

The new amp is okay.
I still think the "RB" model is the best for high gain. Really shines with the York Audio DV77 Mix 10 IR (100HP, 12500LP). Also gotta dial out about 2db of 400hz.

That crunch channel sounds very usable. The lead channel was quite harsh. The look at 1:50 kind sums up how I felt with it. I've been looking at the mid price modelers and I'm not anticipating playing out anytime soon so I think I'll just go with a new interface and a 7 string for what I would spend on the MX5. Are there any updates to existing models or just additions?
I was curious about that too. Did Headrush update the the old AVID stuff at all?

Multi effect units always gets compared against each other or vs real amps. Same with plugins. What I am wondering is multi effect unit vs plugin. Should I get something like Ampero stomp II or MX5 for home use instead of using plugins?

If u never leave the house pc is ok. Spark mini sounds good no wires on your coffee table, mobile. MX5 and frfr speaker if you want to play out and cover many tones but i have a spark and mx5 and aby box them together.

Sound really good, i know are high gain amps but to me sound too mouch shhhh in the back.
When You actívate the Boost is less audible but the shhh still there

Yes, and if you want to use the amp modeling, use the power amp in on the Katana.
It seems some of the other effects might have been, should I say, updated? By perception, they sound (more) killer now. As it seems as I and my other guitar player use Gigboard's as an effects pedal in scene mode for live use via four-cable with an EVH 5150iii and a 6505+ respectively. I've not had a chance for studio recordings since I use a QC for studio use only. I also own an Engl Powerball and in your vid, the Engl sim didn't sound too bad or far off of what I can get out of the real amp, could be the ML IR you are using.

I sold my MX5 as the sound was just not there for me and always sounded harsh
I think the IR you used does not compliment the tone of the unit. It's very boxy sounding, too much mids in the wrong place. 2:30 sounds particularly rough. (also presence at 90% and treble at 100%? ouch!) Way too much mids and high end. Idk man. The bass tone... is uh... not even really a tone I'd ever consider using for practice, or on a produced track. It's just low end, no mids, no highs, and a ton of distortion thrown on top.

Yeah too much high end by his own doing and the ir took away all the warmth and now people think that's how headrush sounds like lol headrush only competition is helix and it beats the helix in various videos when done right.

I have some questions: does it have editing software? And can you make stereo presets?
No editing software but it's a touch screen so it's pretty easy to use. The mx5 has two outputs so i believe stereo outputs are possible
Does the mx5 have the whammy pitch shifter?

@MegaAndyGG go for the headrush the ampero is ok for its price but only the first generation in my opinion
Not sure how useful the update is - since on any IR loadable multfx you just need a average/good amp going into a good IR then you're set for metal. Find any good IR online and put any distortion before it and you're all set.
You should test out the sound without the IRs, see how headrush compares.
You have to correct general EQ. Too much 700 - 1200Hz

Almost everything I could throw at it, including using dual mode on multiple amp blocks

The Max of blocks IS THE Max of dsp
I have a patch with 4 amps, 2 for dirty and 2 for clean both in stereo, compressor, delay, reverb, equalizer, 2 cabs for the dirty and 2 cabs for the clean, a klon as boost. I could put another reverb and then I couldnt put in the last avaiable block a harmonizer, whammy for chords (still could put the one for solos) or a third reverb, everything else was avaiable. That is how powerful the dsp if lol

I'm not metal 🤘😜 but I appreciate this sound 🤯 I played rock in 90's and remember digital sound...was like shit 😜 but now after almost 20 years I return to play music with my friends and I'm in shock - Headrush MX5 sound/possibilities are amazing. Which pedalboard You recommend in more or less money? For several weeks I have been watching YT passionately, looking for and listening to the possibilities of the MX5 - amazing ... how with dynamics and transferring articulation to a digital signal? Can hear it as digital? 😉

Greetings from a polish person in America!👍 I do recommend the mx5 cause it is probably the best modeler for under 600. The mx5 is around 500 dollars, which is a pretty good price for such a good modeler. I am thinking about either buying this or saving up for a new guitar 😂. It’s a pretty stupid comparison, like A modeler or guitar, but I am still thinking abt this. Anyways, the mx5 probably has the most features, especially that you can add even more tones from a pc. There is also a built in expression pedal, which is really useful. So, I think you should get this.

Yeah, while I think the touch screen is great for editing, I completely agree. Every unit should have an editor.
It sounds too cold for my ears... The Ampero sounds warmer and "real" than MX5.

Had an ampero and now Mx5, for me Ampero is really nice and does the job very well, but at least for me Headrush are in another league.. to my ears the feel and the sound are much better

not impressed......tired of multifx units being for non-metalheads - for the most part - so just saving up for an Engl Ironball SE. Definitely the better option!
Actually it's metalheads, viruses and ambient players who prefer the digital multi fx and modelers.
As well as the ambient players.
Classic rockers, jazz, and doom they more prefer the real amps and analog circuits.
