- If you want a really good Brawler then go ahead and buy yourself a marauder MAD-3R, put 2 LB 10-X Shotgons and 4 Medium Lasers onto it, take a Standard engine for survivability and rush the enemies firing lines with a bunch of friends.
Seriously, this Mech is extremely durable and can absorb a lot of damage. The MAD-3R variant not only has a good amount of structure quirks but the Marauder in general has extremely good hitboxes. You can torso twist very effective with this chassis.
What I really like about the build is that the 2 LB10 don't generate too much heat. You can basically fire them until your ammunition is gone without risking overheating at all.

Hmm, at around the 10:00 mark there was some phantom left leg damage. Didn't notice a hit indicator from a friendly. Any idea what happened there?

shave leg armour, sacrifice endo, lose halfton in left leg, through in double heatsink in empty torso.
thats the alt version of that build i run, and in FW, i trade the heatsink for ams.

20 points of damage meets mech with an XL engine and likely maximum of 16 points of armour on the side torso. Unsurprisingly the locust gets squashed like a bug.

Here's an interesting MAD-3R for you. 4 medium pulse lasers, 3 LBX2's, 5 tons of ammo, Std 300 and full armour apart from legs which are at 48 and 3 additional double heatsinks. I am thinking medium to long range suppression with the AC2's and the lasers as backup or use the ac2's to shake cockpits as you brawl with the lasers.
I thought of this build, but didn't think it has enough damage for a 75 ton mech. I might have been wrong, though! It seems a lot of fun, probably more than my triple AC build (AC/10 +2xAC/2, actually).

is the bushwacker a viable mech in tier 1? i tarely see them on yours, snuggles or others videos
It is viable, yes. But it is not good in the whole Gauss/PPC Metagame in Tier 1. Therefore the people are sticking to other Mechs. But I like it.
Same loadout I use on my 3R. It rocks hard.

Nice Vid, i have a Marauder-IIC-A with 2 C-LB10x and 4 C-Medium Pulse Lasers, i love my Marauder-IIC-A
lbx 10's are absolute damage farmers. i consistently get 600-800 damage on my cicada with one lbx10 and 4 medium lasers. once those components are opened up it feels like lbx one shots them haha

I like a CN9-D for using LB10s (plus 2x ml, 2srm4/6)
You can only one shotty, but the quirks make up for it
Have the same build except I go for the extra laser instead of having 100 rounds. Personally think 80 is enough.

One of my fav builds with the 3R, next to 3xAC5 - 4xML + AC5 and ML cooldown mods(I don't chainfire the AC5's).
It also does 4xLPL - 3xMG well too, just fire 2xLPL at a time so heat won't spike too high.
This is my favorite Marauder 3R build :)

The 3R is such a versatile mech, can carry Peeps, Dakka LBX, AC20 or as im currently toying with trying for the first time the Gauss PPC combo. It just seems to work regardless of build.
The exact same load out I use..... It rules.

I was in both matches with you. I was in the battlemaster that blew off your right torso in the 2nd match. That was a messy match my team was too busy hiding.
I've got a shadowcat missing .1 tons too, and it triggers me too. I wish PGI would raise the max armor on all mechs by just a tiny amount.

Im wondering, is it better to equip 2 x lbx10s over 1 x lbx20 ? Why do you choose two 10s over a single 20 on this loadout? I Love using the shotguns, so curious on your opinion....awesome videos, keep up the great work!
The Inner Sphere Mechs do not have access to the LBX20 :(
...also 2 LBX10 have a faster recycle-time and higher range. so better DPS, of course you pay with the higher tonnage.
I started with the R build you are using, but I switched to the M. Gotta have JJs!
It is definitely a good alternative.

I use the exact same build on my 3R, I love it.
My MAD-3R "Francis Drake" (you know, Pirate, Marauder, two big cannons ...) is my all time favourite.
