Yeah, the power of the Scorch is real. Even the intimidation factor of a Scorch can change the tide of a battle. I was in a match the other day with a unit member and we were both running brawler Scorch builds, so naturally we ended up on Polar Highlands. Anyway, the enemy was heavier and was narcing/raining LRMs and sniping with ER LL so we had to start advancing on them to negate the range advantage. The two Scorches pushed on missile boats that were off to one side and took fire from both the LRMers and the other sniping enemies as we advanced. We destroyed the enemy missile boats and then promptly died ourselves. But in occupying the fire from most of the enemy force during that time our line advanced on the enemy and we ended up winning. People see a Scorch and they're afraid of it so they try to concentrate fire. They see two of them advancing and they ignore the rest of your team.
I'm curious how the the Mad Cat Mk. II will hold up against the Scorch (Or the MAD-IICs in general). The basic Mad Cat Mk. II can actually do this build, but with more tonnage for a bigger engine, JJs, ammo, artemis or DHS. Plus, all the hardpoints look to be cockpit level or higher.
Barring some as yet unforeseen weakness in the hitboxes, etc. on the Madcat Mk. II, I would think it would do this slightly better than the MAD-IIC. Time will tell. As far as just in general I think the Mk. II may slightly outshine the MAD-IIC in a lot of builds. Unless of course you are meeting some tonnage limitations then the MAD-IIC might be the better option.
The Madcat MK.II is capable of mounting two Heavy Gauss Rifles. So naturally, people are going to use it has a sniper mech(even though it's basically an assault mech). But it have the slots to mount multiple ballistics so chances are it might rival the Dire Bear or the Kodiak in terms of firepower. It's only major weakness are going to be those ears since they are high mounted even more than the original MadCat.
Only the IS will be getting the Heavy Gauss when the time jump comes. Also the optimal range of the Heavy Gauss is I think under 400 meters (calling the lore guys to correct me if I'm wrong), so it's not really a sniper weapon.
I think you may be right. Optimal range would be 400 while the highest range would be close to 600 and it has a massive arc similar to the AC/20 and does 25 damage at optimal range(400m), 15 dmg(500m), then 10dmg(600m). When this comes out almost every Assault 'mech player will slot one in even though it weighs 18 tons and you only get 4 shots per ton compared to the 7 shots per ton of the AC/20.
Good dose ;) i use 4 srm4 *art on chain to open up armour and the lb 20's to say goodnight. Really enjoy watching you and even the odd drop where you have been in, you got me back on mwo t2 shooting for t1 just to see if i can. keep up the good work.
You could put all weapons in a group set to chain-fire - fire one by one, every half a second for 3 seconds. With elite + modules, your first weapon will have *almost* cooled down by then. So for situations where you're not the enemies' focus, you have a steady ROF to keep the target under pressure, with easier heat management and no ghost heat (also a lot safer to use with override on). I know there's not gonna be many situations where a Scorch isn't the enemies' focus XD ...but if you've got the keys to spare it's worth having set up. Chain fire SRMs can be surprisingly destructive.
This thing is Beast! People like to hate on the Marauder IIC but it's a great mech! I would chain the 20's and the Srm's though to reduce the heat build up. Those srm6's are whats gimping the heat maybe link them in 2's and fire them groups seperately.
SRM6 + Artemis is a lot more effective than the stock build - I run with an XL 315 @ 64.5 kph w/speed tweak. That huge damage combined with the narrow hitboxes make it one of the best brawling mechs period IMO. You don't have to move the torso much to spread damage.
Build Suggestion. Ebon J W/7 small lasers 2 per arm, 3 left torso UAC10 in right torse. 4 tons ammo at most. Heat sinks with the rest of tonnage. AWESOME DPS up close and Great poking with the UAC
So basically a UAC10 and that's it, because the ebj will never get into brawling range with how thin the armor is and hitboxes, it's not called the glasscannon timberwolf for nothing IMO already a poor mech build because the ranges don't sync up
The Scorch is a terrifying machine, in the hands of someone who knows how to use it, this mech can change match outcomes. But this friendly fire problem is a thing too. Have you watched that vid from TheB33F with his DireStar? XD
You only have 21 shots of your LBXs, yet you seem to shoot a lot at things that are out of range or when they are mostly in cover. Scorch is a sweet mech
Run mine with 4*SRM4, 2*UAC10, and 2*LPL with... I think a 340XL. Also very hot, but it can wreck faces. I'm not keen on missile range modules, the spread on SRMs past 270 makes it questionable, imo. I also don't bother with Cool Shot 6 even on hot builds, I've found a nice UAV is much better in the long run (also, UAVs are XP goldmines). All of this is with a big YMMV, of course.
Way late to the party and you've probably already noticed this, but this build could use some ammo leveling - aka a little more LB20X ammo and a little less SRM6 ammo.
Might have to try this since i have mine mastered, to see how well the heat difference is. Scorch by far my favorite mech. I use dual lb 10s, and 4 srm 6 +Artemis. Shoot the lbxs when about to overheat, since they do not produce much heat. Dual cool shots of course, and then to much ammo so you don't run out, ever. What do you think? Also, dont do the lrm 80 scorch.... ticks teammates off......
i run mine with lbx20 and srm6s, 5ton lbx and 4 ton srm ammo. i think together with xl365. no movement tree, but radar depre, 1xseismic, 2 coolshots, 2uav and weapon tree (heat) and full heat tree. runs fine, does lots of dmg. 70kmh without any speedtweek
Unmensch Unfortunately no. The Marauder IIC is a clan Nomnimech, meaning it has fixed hardpoints. The Scorch is the only variant with 4 missile hardpoints. The next best choice is the Marauder IIC-B, but it only has 2 missile hardpoints.
tried this found it good but way to hot, so i switched out the LBX 20's for LBX 10's added more leg armor extra heat sinks and ammo LOL its a beast over 1k dmg on first game.
Hmm, are you getting ghost heat from the 4xSRM6? Downgrading one or two to SRM4 might help. Reduced alpha, for certain, but significantly reduced heat.
85t, 2xLBX20s + 4xSRM6s at 65kph...tell me again why some people think IS mech's quirk is OP? Seriously, I gladly welcome you to the IS fami...wait, why are you dropping as a Clanner again?
This mech gives the Spirit Bear a run for its money in terms of brawling power. Maybe replace the LB-20X with 2x LB-10X and getting artemis for the SRM 6 for more efficient damage and DPS? :)
Metallica Danger I don't think that frame rates have to do with wi-fi, perhaps there is consistent lag? Drop your graphics settings and see if it works.
Yeah I ran mine with 6's at first (after it ran it with duel Gauss/PPC)... but without Art they spread just too much for me.. Plus they are Waayyy hotter then 4's.. Here is my Scorch build (I call him "ShotGun Pete") mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=499&l=6bdd6830794a3a3cd16fde2732925f4ea82e7be1 I use an XL375 (76.8kph), because with LB20's and SRMs you wanna have as much speed as you can so you can close quickly with your target, and/or fall back should a target have an unseen friend or gets help... SRM4's without Art was great until PGI increased the spread on the 4's.. but you are going to be close enough when you use them that you don't notice the change much.. I run it with double LB20 modules (SRMs are secondary weapons and why I have only 2 tons for it), Double Coolshot (For when I just rush/jump into a furball it can get hot really quick after the 4th alpha) and Seismic/R-Derp... (the cooldown for LB/SRM are matched on my mech) But yes it's a monster.. and i've been favoring it more then my KDK-SB of late, due to its lower profile, high base top speed, and it's ability to use Voodoo magic to ignore some incoming damage taken while torso twisting as it takes damage... Infact I recall a pug game on River City, we were starting to lose the match.. The fail players on my team pushed over to the starport and stopped in river under the bridge and all but one died there (the wise ones stayed in upper city with me)... I later pushed down and across to help the only guy left who was in the starport tunnel.. He died as I got there from a HBK-IIC, "Onion"-IIC, and a SHD.. I soloed all three of them in that tunnel (one of them said something about cheating), exiting out on their side then ripped apart 2 LRM Heavies... It's really a beast of a Mech... Able to rip the legs of lights with single shot, and down a heavy with two shots... Things to remember when playing it are... It is mech that has to wait for positioning/Sniping Phase of combat to end, but it can easily cause panic and fear when loosed into the Front&Back ranks of the enemy.... The LB's travel much much fast then the SRMs (faster then UAC10's and don't need much of a lead), so fire alpha only at a targets that either standing still, or right in your face, otherwise FIre LB's then SRMs once you have gauged the lead for the SRMs.. Once a target's armor is open, the LBs will crit mad crazy when they hit.. Have the SRMs on a another group on chainfire, use when running hot, or you need to bait a player that is shielding from you, so he'll turn at you so you can use the LBs.. Nice video btw... sorry about the story/advice turning into an essay... ;)~

i love that lbx20 sound :D so awesome
Nice paint scheme there. Scorch is the most fun I've had in the game in a long time :P

Liking the Baradul face-cam in the Daily Dose!
LOL! "Don't shoot real people."
Definitely a scary setup, but I personally prefer 2*UAC20 + 4*SRM4 for more pinpoint damage. And more ammo as well.
LOL!!! This is my Scorch build as well. Its great for face hugging Kodiaks.
guess i know who took off my back armor now
SRM6 + Artemis is a lot more effective than the stock build - I run with an XL 315 @ 64.5 kph w/speed tweak. That huge damage combined with the narrow hitboxes make it one of the best brawling mechs period IMO. You don't have to move the torso much to spread damage.
I find this build works much better with srm4's. It allows for quite a bit more ammo and the heat is more manageable.
oceankhayne you can go with LB 10s too...
Build Suggestion.
Ebon J W/7 small lasers
2 per arm, 3 left torso
UAC10 in right torse. 4 tons ammo at most. Heat sinks with the rest of tonnage.
AWESOME DPS up close and Great poking with the UAC

Ordinarily I'm not a big fan of yellow, but that is a *beautiful* mech!
You only have 21 shots of your LBXs, yet you seem to shoot a lot at things that are out of range or when they are mostly in cover. Scorch is a sweet mech
Even the build with 4x srm4s and 2x lb20s is crazy hot after a bit.

Scorch looks really good in yellow!
Way late to the party and you've probably already noticed this, but this build could use some ammo leveling - aka a little more LB20X ammo and a little less SRM6 ammo.
Your teammate walked in front of a Scorch 😂
I honestly thought the lag was on my end, not in the video at first
"Don't shoot real people..." - Germany is so politically correct.
Guess you can say the heat is on with this Scorch
Might have to try this since i have mine mastered, to see how well the heat difference is. Scorch by far my favorite mech. I use dual lb 10s, and 4 srm 6 +Artemis. Shoot the lbxs when about to overheat, since they do not produce much heat. Dual cool shots of course, and then to much ammo so you don't run out, ever. What do you think? "Droup Grops."
I think this build is better suited to urban settings. the LB20 keeps hitting the ground like you said.
Wish there was an updated version of this.. with the skill tree!!! :P
i run mine with lbx20 and srm6s, 5ton lbx and 4 ton srm ammo. i think together with xl365. no movement tree, but radar depre, 1xseismic, 2 coolshots, 2uav and weapon tree (heat) and full heat tree. runs fine, does lots of dmg. 70kmh without any speedtweek
Is it possible to do this build on casual versions of Marauder IIC? I mean M-IIC-A, M-IIC-B and so on :D
Unmensch Unfortunately no. The Marauder IIC is a clan Nomnimech, meaning it has fixed hardpoints. The Scorch is the only variant with 4 missile hardpoints. The next best choice is the Marauder IIC-B, but it only has 2 missile hardpoints.
lmao when u shot that guy in the back he probably shit his pants.
ain't got shit on the Direstar's 165pt Alpha
what PC u have and setting u run ?
tried this found it good but way to hot, so i switched out the LBX 20's for LBX 10's added more leg armor extra heat sinks and ammo LOL its a beast over 1k dmg on first game.
if only I could Outfit an atlas with a weapon loadout like that
Hmm, are you getting ghost heat from the 4xSRM6? Downgrading one or two to SRM4 might help. Reduced alpha, for certain, but significantly reduced heat.
All SRM's are linked when factoring in ghost heat. so regardless if he switches over to two SRM4's he would still be generating some extra heat.
Bummer! Okay, thanks for the information!
SRM 4 and 6 ghost heat starts at firing 5 SRMs simultaneously, so he does not have any on this build. It's just REALLY hot. :)
That's the price of alpha. Thanks for the info Mechwarriors!
The ghost heat is coming from firing both of his lb20xs at the same time. He should be staggering them.
i would throw out the srm and add heatsinks+ maybe a bit more ammo if needed ^^
"Point and click adventure builds"....It's official, MWO is now COD. ; )
You and snuggles talk about modules, I'm a new pilot and I dont see the module option in the mech lab. Am I missing something?
its an old video. today we have the skilltree :)
baradul is so happyu :D
Snuggles time did a video on this build a few days ago.
85t, 2xLBX20s + 4xSRM6s at 65kph...tell me again why some people think IS mech's quirk is OP? Seriously, I gladly welcome you to the IS fami...wait, why are you dropping as a Clanner again?
4 SRMs6 produce heat penalty, right?
Nope, 4 is the most you can fire at one time before ghost heat kicks in.
I thought that the maximum alpha strike with SRMs is 3. I guess that they changed it from 3 to 4.
I run the same loadout on a MCII2 so strong but heat can get away from u when getting enemies in sight with an alpha strike.
i also chain the LB20s as they ghost pretty hard
This is my favorite mech but I use srm4s.
This mech gives the Spirit Bear a run for its money in terms of brawling power. Maybe replace the LB-20X with 2x LB-10X and getting artemis for the SRM 6 for more efficient damage and DPS? :)
aw man, your lucky to even lag. i play mwo at 15-20 fps...if my wi-fi has a strong signal!!
Metallica Danger
I don't think that frame rates have to do with wi-fi, perhaps there is consistent lag? Drop your graphics settings and see if it works.
no, it does not. it's my graphics card, i got mine for 80$ on the dell website!!
Metallica Danger
well, that would definitely do it
Yeah I ran mine with 6's at first (after it ran it with duel Gauss/PPC)... but without Art they spread just too much for me.. Plus they are Waayyy hotter then 4's..

Hi Baradul! With 4 srm 4-s is cooler and dps is better.
Like in my video. It is more f
Damn, if this thing didnt look ugly as shit it's load out is what I like... the sound of lbx 20's pounding into something... delicious.
It reminds me of a weird looking turkey because the head is deformed like they created a body of a turkey and the head of a human
When will you and Snuggles learn that a LRM80 Scotch is better.
And yes that was a joke.
Simon C there are things we don't joke about....
Why clan mechs look like angry chickens?
because that's exactly what clanners are....filthy vat grown angry chickens ;)
I get this stuttering stuff all the time. i have loads of ram (16GB) octo core amd, do not care. It probably uses hdd and I'm on mechanical one...
