  • In this episode of TFBTV, ‪@JamesReeves‬ visits Haenel at EnforceTac to discuss their RS8/RS9 line of sniper rifles, famously used by German special forces as the G29.
    According to Haenel's webpage:
"With RS8 / RS9, C.G. Haenel from Suhl offers a sniper rifle system specially developed for police and military use. The bolt-action rifle sets a benchmark in ergonomics and modularity. The weapon can be adjusted to the shooter’s needs and the situation without tools. A modern precision rifle that combines high functionality with impressive precision. The RS9 has been introduced in the Bundeswehr as the G29; likewise in various special units of the German police. The production process behind the system complies with industry standard ISO9001 and NATO standards."

I live here , when I came here first , was surprised to know that no one advertised their product with actions like the best pizza in town, the best burger in town, or the best car service , insurance service in town city state etc . There are laws against it, the kartelamt or competition commission deems such advertising illegal and can impose huge fines. What you can do is to make some magazine, Lab, university do a comparative study on your products vs your competitors and then say that according to such and such research by so and so , my product is best among the studied options on these parameters. Germans are honest because the system here does not allow you to get away with dishonesty, and over time when you see that dishonesty does not pay well, you tend to be honest.

Well, IWA is a closed professional trade show, you can't get in without credentials or with an invitation or with a press pass. And even press access is limited to relevant publications unfortunately. It used to be open for press in general and I was able to get in a few years ago, but it seems they had too many encounters with anti-gun leftist journalists who were looking for "scandals".

That highly depends on the country. In Germany, cans are restricted for certain work related use and licensed hunters. If you're on a range in Poland you might be required to have one to keep the noise down. We can't have lights and lasers based similarly to US BS rules...some politicians find something scary based on movies and they want to ban it. Lights could be focused to shoot from the hip and they don't like that. Go to Austria and they can have all of that. At least not a tax stamp for attaching a stock, but the prices are so high as if it was included with all firearms. -.-

Not with these sniper rifles, they have been selling those to German special forces for a couple years in smaller quantities. Then they won a bid on over 120K MK556 rifles for the German military but H&K sued them for patent infringement on some small part in the rifle, and they won. The German military then gave the contract to H&K.

I have the Haenel cr223 / BT-15 and its incredible. But even that set me back $3000. I could see this being closer to 10k... but tbh likely wont be imported at all. B&T would have been the most likely company to import such rifles especially since they have a new line of products that are specifically euro imports (cr223 was beta test of this line, dragunov is first actual product in the B&T imported product line)... unfortunately i dont know if B&T will continue to do importation work with the company haenel because of how abrupt the cr223 deal ended with HK filing lawsuits over the designs. Who knows though, maybe they will continue. That would likely be the only way we see this rifle in the USA in any meaningful numbers. I personally will not buy any more proprietary imported rifles since if anything breaks you will have a hard time fixing it or getting replacement parts. B&T has 0 replacement parts because of how quickly the cr223 importation was ended. Cr223 users are relegated to buying HK 416 parts which are very expensive or just buying a second cr223 as parts. I would hate to spend more than 3000 and be in the same boat regarding replacement parts. anything near 10k and its just better to buy an Accuracy International which has replacement parts availability or a B&T APR338.

@@ghost-do8fg Well, some say that Haenel basically had "the same" rifle for a lower price. But on the other hand, it's a 556 based on the AR platform, so what really is H&Ks argument...
H&K actually had a patent on some special borings that allow water to drain quickly after submersion in water. And Haenel had the same bore holes in their rifle.

Heckler and Koch was started by guys who where making guns for the Germans. I find it weird his comment offended you so much. He was just saying haenel has been making quality guns since the 40s.
