Love that it doesn't lean on cliched tropes and imagery of India that designers typically resort to (hello Maria Grazia Chuiri). This is what an interpretation looks like! I love that it highlights vulnerability, growth, dialogue with nature. India is complex and in the chaos we often forget that it is delicate too. Makes it Valli too.
As an Indian I would like to say those hooded gown were inspired by women covering their head or whole face with saree or dupatta when they are in temples 🪷
This feels like a true homage and not appropriation - you really see traditional elements of Indian culture but interpreted thru the veil of western fashion techniques!! Incredibly beautiful.
I’m curious if you looked at Rahul Mishras collection yesterday, which was a reflection on the spirituality of Hinduism. He’s an Indian designer and the collection was absolutely incredible.
I found it under your recommendation, oh my god I was floored, absolutely incredible. I wish people would talk about actual Indian designers more, rather than having everything filtered through a European lense.
The thing with fashun is... The more impractical it is to wear, the more it catches the eye of the rich amd the elite and the more is the demand for it...
@@cratda2101that's not true. The elite wears ready to wear fashion. The pieces you see on the runway are inspirations with key elements that will appear in the ready to wear-collection. If you think these pieces are actually going to be reproduced and worn....😅
@@roddo1955 They are worn, mostly by celebrities for red carpet events. You're right about the pieces also being the inspiration for the ready-to-wear line. But they are also 100% worn by anyone who's interested! (Mostly on loan and are used by both parties for mutual PR purposes). Love that its an homage to India, but without the usual aspects of cultural appropriation. The colors, flowers, and embroidery incorporated into the usual a-line dresses and drapery of western style.
I love the collection but I feel that maybe for an india inspired collection, they could have hired more indian models? It just feels a bit strange when the people make the culture of a country, and the beauty
Gorgeous! 😍🫶🏽I’d wear every fabulous piece, even if I were going to work or the grocery store. Ordinary people should embrace and be inspired to celebrate a beautiful life through fashion, too…☺️
@@panzwes5993 Exactly what I thought. Maybe they could work on someone who has a bit more curves than these models, but I am not sure. Something was just a bit off, but as I said, on a different figure it might look better :)

LOVEEE the softness in silhouettes and colours. Turns out you can do India inspired collections without blinding gold and drawing the Taj Mahal on poorly draped sarees🤡
india has such beautiful architecture, nature, clothing, women, culture- just india in general is absolutely gorgeous, i’m glad more people are recognizing it
India has always been known for its amazing embroidery and England even banned a very popular fabric called Cheent ( Chinz) as it was so expensive to produce and then the UK factories mass produced it and banned the original from India .
In mid 2000, i bought an indian outfit in the same green color with beading. I bought it from an indian store in a town that has a large indian population. Usa. You said veil like structure. I love the 1st dress.
I'm so glad that the colour palate has just enough saturation and not the stereotypical jarring and overwhelmingly supersaturated colours used whenever inspiration is drawn from India
I feel that an homage to India based on colour and simply flowers or embroidery is not groundbreaking. What would truly be exciting and a true reinterpretation would be playing with the Indian silhouette or draping techniques.
I like that these are artistic, unique, more cutting edge, yet still actually beautiful. A lot of fashion is trying to be artistic and edgy and just looks weird
The pale green hooded dress is gorgeous, but how are you supposed to eat in it? And what if you have to sneeze? Is the front of the hood just tucked down the bodice?
This Collection is really quite Stunning. I adore Editorial Fashion but most often it simply will not translate into a real world wearable pieces to be enjoyed by most people who can afford to even consider wearing them due the sculpture involved in many pieces. This Collection is High to the Sky Editorial Fashion and is also completely wearable. I can easily imagine The Canary Yellow Gown as a Bridal Gown for a Unique Bride. This was ALL very Beautiful and Thoughtful to those who could really invest in High Quality Garments.
Refreshing to see designers taking inspiration from India rather than copying centuries-old art without any nuances.
Yes! This is true creative design inspired by a country and culture rather than just stealing traditional designs.

That pale green, micro pleated, hooded gown was stunning!
STUN.NING!!!

The one that “shimmered and shone” is my favorite, from an outstanding collection.
Kudos!

Quick question though, apart from the red carpet, where else do people wear these dresses?
