If you have any leftover scales when you finish the dress, you could always make plain totebags and sew the scales on them to make dragon tote bags and then give them away to your patrons! 🥰

Make a matching cape with all the extra scales! That dress deserves a dramatic cape!

This! Making a cape is the perfect addition to such a complicated dress. You can pick your favourite scales and sew the dress exactly as you like. All the other scales can be used in the cape and be worn to elevate the dress, but you can also take it off or drape it next to you in photos, when all the fabric and beads become too heavy. A cape can be as short or long as the surplus scales allow for... plus you have much more flexibility to incorporate the unique scales that do not easily fit in the gradient, as the design will be totally your own.

That is insane level of support with your project and I’m thrilled for you. I don’t know what I would do in your position but I’m thankful to be here to watch your process. How about a "wearable" interpretation of the dress with the leftovers ?Something simpler, lighter, like a short tube dress for example, ... but with amazing scales ;) I can totally picture you rocking the look at parties 💥
I kind of hope your Mugler dress videos go viral and you get all the support and new viewers that you deserve. You can definitely use extra scales to make accessories, like a Mugler handbag?? And I agree with someone's comment about making the Marquis fancy scale armor. I am VERY tempted to somehow make the trip to Holiday Matsuri just to meet you 😭It's during my winter school break but I live in California so it'll be a whole trip in itself.
I made a few scales and wanted to send them when I had a few more. I abandoned that when it became apparent that you get more than enough. I still have them here next to my pc waiting to go to some project of my own instead :D

Watching you sort the scales was so fun, getting to see glimpses of all the scales I saw people working on in the discord, while on the hunt for a glimpse of mine (seven out of 13k so I'm not holding my breathe :D) it's going to be beautiful
I would love to see a panel on making flat patterns when you're not a regular sewist. I have tried the "tracing something you like" method, and that's helpful, but more information from someone who has been to school for fashion design would be imminently helpful.

The furry suPURRvisor whose name I've forgotten apart from him being a neighbours cat that calls your place home. He sure likes causing havoc when you're trying to be creative, adorable little gremlin that he is.
The two hardest things to handle in life are failure and success. 'Helpfully' Canada post lost the 60 scales I tried to send. Great video, nice to see you point out different cool ones along the way, all the glorious despair, the Marquis and Notmycat helping. Looking forward to seeing the dress come together.
I would personally take out scales that are specially heavy and use them for something else, like the ones with buttons on them

To help distribute the weight, can you build in a corset(ish) so some weight is on your hips not just your shoulders?

spinny chair! Sit in a spinning chair with manageable box in lap, and sorted boxes in circle around you, and do the you spin me round round like a record baby song while sorting? :P ... but, you have already finish sorting now.
I do not even think how you will carry all that weight? I think you will need to contact Nerdforge, or some other techy mad science creator to build you working exoskeleton suit to wear under it all just to be able to walk, and pull a train, stand up straight!
You have worked collaborations in past? Who do you know can build working exoskeleton that can carry weight?
Who do you know that can maybe make animated folding, fully articulated, battery operated WINGS (it might be a nice addition. It is good idea inside head, but, is wings good idea IRL?) :)
