Yes. Feeling very discouraged these days. Needed a pick me up. As an older person searching for a job, I must admit I sure do miss the days when you sent your resume in the mail, with stamp. At least you knew there was a chance they'd see it. This online stuff is crazy. I've been going straight to the company websites. Linkdeln and the other jobsites, I'm never sure if the company even saw my resume. I have passswords out the ying yang. Have a great day.

Same. I’m in my mid-40s and starting over after nearly 20 years with one company. I miss the days of printing résumé’s at Kinko’s, and driving around town in my suit to hand-deliver my resume to businesses. Some businesses even offered an impromptu interview on the spot, and I was hired with 2 weeks. Those days are over. I’ve been actively submitting resumes online for a year. Everything is directed to the website and the inevitable war with the ATS system. Not only can people not spot talent anymore, their Artifical Intelligence apparatus apparently can’t either.

Debra - Have been doing the same thing, applying for hundreds of jobs I am well qualified for and didn't even receive a response. IMO, LinkedIn is useless. The strategy I began deploying this week is asking ChatGPT 4o to list the top 50 companies in my city. From there, I am going to each company's career site directly and applying for those positions I feel qualified and can bring value to. I have stopped specifically customizing my resume for each job, it consumed too much time with zero benefits. Since I just started this new approach, I can't speak to its success but if you are looking for options, sharing is caring...good luck!

So many of the jobs posted are actually scams, bait & switch for the starting salary, or the company is just trying to gauge the interest at different posted salary points.

Thank you! This video came at the right time. I've had a fortunate career, working for several prominent companies and performing well. Although I've experienced a few layoffs, I always found new work quickly, once even on the same day I received notice. However, everything changed in June 2023 when I was laid off from my position as a senior manager at Disney. Since then, I've had only a few interviews, and my resume rarely gets a response despite numerous revisions, professional reviews, and feedback from peers. It's starting to feel like there's some bad karma at play. I am an energetic and optimistic person, but everyone has their limits. Bill's videos are a rare ray of sunshine and I appreciate his positivity.

If I were a CEO, I would measure the batting average of people who work in the HR department. The ultimate guide to knowing if they did a competent job of hiring the right people, and their ability to retain the right people. In my career I have known many people who worked in HR and have seen the rotten selections they have made. Many times they are taken in by a "flashy" candidate, and those candidates turned out to be duds. Is HR ever held to account, like a sales person is? I guess those metrics are much easier to obtain.

I think HR is harder to fire than most, they know the exact rules, so if you don't have them dead to rights theyll fight it and win or sue.

Time to dust myself down and go again, I’m in a safe job at the moment but I’m after something more but have had no luck even getting interviews for the last 18 months.
    Thank you!

I know a gal that always took a part time job at places she wanted to work. She said companies always underestimate the amount of help they need and it always turned into a full time job within 2 months.

I was let go from my first full-time job last April and it's been a struggle since. I've been getting interviews lately yet I keep falling short of an offer. I'm now taking an online certificate on AI and data science so hopefully that will help.
