The best thing is that this guy is playing music instead of doing bunch of licks. I started to hate guitar solos because I'm looking for a guitar for months now and almost 90% of the reviews are people soloing
most of these solos you find on on other videos are not even music. No discernible melody or harmony.
Amen.
Can you guys tell me if this is a good guitar for beginners?
Agreed
Damn! The only man who talks about neck dive among the numerous UA-cam reviewers. Respect for that!
Struggles are real 🤘
Sounded brighter and more tele-like than I expected (a good thing in my opinion). Thanks for the video!
I was quite surprised too, awesome guitar
Been hearing about these classic vibe telecasters for a while now. My mate who works in guitar center as a manager told me one came in.. he played it then bought it himself, so when another come in that was a hollow body with two humbuckers I picked it up played it and the hype is true... just bought it myself. These are great guitars at unbelievable prices.
These are an excellent guitar. When mine arrived it needed one very minor adjustment - one of the saddles was slightly higher than it should be. Otherwise the guitar was absolutely fine - no apparent faults, looked good, played well, sounded great. I would thoroughly recommend one of these.
To anyone wanting to buy this guitar: DO IT! I just got it for christmas and it's soooo good. It's so slick and Nice. Pickups is great. Can defenatly recommend this guitar, fantastic to beginners and elites.
A fellow guitarist.
💯 🎸🤘
HEYYY excuse me can I do this --> ua-cam.com/video/wizAwUwdWsY/v-deo.html (min 8:10) with this guitar? I don't want to damage the guitar, it looks so pure xd
@@alguien9658 hey yes you can
@@dzsime1861 until the end? Like putting the hand there and getting the sound?
@@alguien9658 when he put his hands on the top of the strings? Thats a technique you can do it with any guitar
After I heard the sound it makes I immediately fell in love with the guitar, I don’t care if the price has been marked up on sweet water I’ll still buy it!
I just bought one of these, and I have to say, out of the box, this one of the best guitars I've ever purchased. I've owned several American Fenders and played a lot of great Gibson guitars, so I"m factoring in those in my opinion. If you want a do it all guitar that likes getting dirty, plays beautiful clean, has something a little different, this is the guitar. Squire has come so far in the last 5 or so years. Play one and I think you'll be hooked!
I really enjoy your videos bcz you seem unbiased and that you seem to buy all the guitars you demo and actually give a proper demo that mostly suits everyday people that might not have a $4000 amp and a $1500 pedal board and that you actually play a song with bits of rethym and lead and not just a bunch of runs and noodling through a setup that would make a $25 child guitar sound good. All your videos I've seen I like and in this one I particularly like your shirt cheers for the great content keep em coming
Oh yes I keep things real on this channel 💯🎸🤘😎
The channel's doing great, Rob. Love that guitar and excellent playing as usual.
Thanks Tosh it's building up nicely :)
She's a beaut for sure.
Since iv found im not a les paul fan this will be my humbucker guitar, loved these teles for a while now great vid
Ah nice enjoy 🤘🎸
have owned one for two years great value guitar for the money plays nice
This is one of my dream guitars. I can't wait to get me one, soon enough.
Ah nice enjoy
These are really good value, 11’s will make a tremendous difference although you will have to recut the nut slots. The “f” hole can be improved by very careful work with fine sandpaper and then varnish on a soft cloth to the exposed area but don’t scratch the top !
I've had one of these guitars for some time and have found it to be as faultless in terms of construction and finish as you say.
The only change I made was to de-gloss the neck which has made it super smooth and comfortable.
I have found that the three pickup selections have very distinctive tones and that the tone control has a very wide range of effects - unlike a Fender PLayer Strat I had where the tone control did hardly anything. Personally, I prefer the 2nd selection (both pickups) with the tone rolled back slightly. I usually play clean or with minimal overdrive to add an edge.
An all-round great guitar. Mine weighs in at a tad over 7lbs, so is as comfortable as a Tele can be.
Thanks for your very fair and detailed review - with clean tones before anything heavier.
I use the same guitar with Ernie Ball 11-48 pure nickel, for Classical Jazz and Jazz Fusion. My combo is a DV Mark Little Jazz. Pure happiness !
I used to have the proper Fender version. Paid 499 about 20 years ago. Was a reluctant sale a few years later so may pick one of these up. Cool song dude
That's a shame, this would make a nice addition for sure 🎸🤘
I have one I purchased around 2017, it has Fender engraved on the pickups.
I got it for a very good price, they even included a hard shell case free, for about $450 Canadian, . but I later discovered that the bridge was slightly off center, by about .5 mil. I think that explains the low price. I had my favorite luthier remove the bridge, fill the holes, and properly locate the bridge. Luckily he's a friend and works cheap. I am not enamored of the tone, so it's not a regular player but it is a nice looking, and "now" a playable instrument and until I find a '72 tele original, it will do.
Thanks for the review . I'm buying one. Probably the Olympic white with a black pickguard. I'll have to see how the paint looks close up because I hate the flat dull paint that Epiphone Led Paul's came out with. If my guitar don't shine. I might even go with the natural. It looked really sweet. Yeah I'm sold. Thanks to everyone in the comments too for giving a straight up. Cheers.
Nice, they're cool guitars 😎🎸
did you get it? i like the look of the white one too. any neck dive?
@@globalnova no, I went with the natural finish. Really enjoy it.
@@douglaschristine8387 I bought the white and had the top painted gold with a black top binding painted on too. Is awesome. Enjoy yours
Nice looking axe! I'm not really a fan of unpainted guitars, but that had some sweet grain which showed up beautifully with the high gloss finish. I have two Squiers and love them. Well affordable, well built, and play as well as anything. I think they deliver alot more for your dollar than many people expect. What do you think about the semi hollow versus solidbody? Any noticeable difference other than a slight neck drop? Good to see you reviewing again, Cheers!
Yeah the wood grain and finish really pops 👌 it's a tough one definitely notice it acoustically but with it being only half semi acoustic I'd say there's not much difference. Maybe a heavy chunk of wood resonates more ? The difference IMO would be so minor
I just bought the newer white one with block inlays. It is aesthetically a beautiful thing, I put some goldish LP style knobs which match the colour of the neck and blackened the edge of the f hole and man does it look good… I wish they would have put top binding though, then it would look even better. I’m gonna try to fake the binding with high quality stickers. (Can take off if no good anyway).. the weakest part, and this is personal preference, are the pickups, which sound a little thin/ tinny to me but this can be compensated for somewhat with EQ. Am thinking about re-spraying it in some funky colour but the white is so damn nice too… arghhhh decisions.
Today I orderer this guitar (my first Gio Ibanez GRG170DX passed away after 12 years) and I can't wait to play it!
Such a cool guitar enjoy 🎸👌
I love these guitar thank you Rob for Demo
They're great guitars, glad you like the demo 🤘🎸
I own the very guitar featured! What a splendid instrument.
Mine is dead stock, and just perfect as delivered
I traded for one of these and the only thing I did to it was upgrade the pots. It plays as well as any guitar I have, some of which are worth 3-4X what you'd pay for this.
Good job on the demo
Yet again awesome playing , I love listening to you play.
I've never fancied a thinline until I heard this , a bit of sanding on the f hole and the neck and that would be a beautiful guitar 😎👍
Thank you very much glad you like the videos, yeah a few minor tweaks and it's a awesome guitar 🤘🎸
yah the sound hole was a bit rough for sure.
Paul Ritchie must admit I’ve had rough f holes on very expensive guitars too.
Your channel rocks mate, you are the ‘anti hero’ guitar hero!
Thanks dude 🤘🎸 glad you dig the channel
Saw this at my guitar store and picked it up. Absolutely beautiful 👌🏼
Ah nice it's a fine Guitar
@@theguitarmanifesto 😂
Do you experience neck dive when standing?
@@HopInCSGO not really on my 1st Epiphone my 2nd one dives like hell though
@@HopInCSGO just realized you were talking about the tele no not really I used a strap it's pretty balanced lol
Recently bought one of these. To a large extent, I was persuaded after first seeing this upload of yours some months ago.
I think my Thinline came fitted with 9's or possibly 10's, but 9's seem more likely. When I restring I'll be fitting D'Addario 11-49s although I'm considering 12s.
I didn't find any issues with roughness on the f-hole but that would be solved very easily. These are really good guitars and the action can be set REALLY low if that's what you want. I also found that the tone control offers a really wide range of changes unlike the tone control on my Squier Strat which, to be honest, is shite and does hardly anything. Of the two, this is the one I'll be keeping. Thanks for an excellent review and demo - I always like to hear clean tones before overdrive or distortion. The sounds you got match pretty closely with that I hear on my thinline - but UA-cam tends to compress sound too much and there is in fact more difference between the 3 settings than you were able to give us. Blame UA-cam for that.
Good job. Bell rung.
If your tone control doesn’t do much, put in a higher value cap.
Maple is always used for the top or face of the guitar because it has a nice grain and looks nice.
The poplar would be used for the body because its lighter and has a grain which is less prominent so they use it where the grain won’t be seen like for the body.
Great video. Love your playing. I’m getting my tele this week. After a ton of research I settled on the thin line.
Ah nice they're cool guitars
AWESOME !! I LOVE THAT GUITAR ROB !! I'M LOOKING AT GETTING ONE MYSELF !!
It certainly looks the part, I'm a bit disappointed with the pickups if I'm honest
I used to own the deluxe solid body version. I really loved the guitar but didnt like the pickups either. They where very dark. They arn't proper wide range pickups. Just normal Gibson style ones made to look like wideranges
Mate, I can always rely on you to go to when I see a guitar I like, thanks and keep up the good work with the channel and have a good one.
Awesome glad the video helped you out 🤘💯 they're very cool guitars highly recommend them 👌🎸😎
@@theguitarmanifesto Very cool guitars indeed, and nice playing from yourself
Why thank you 🎸👌
I'm revisiting this great video as an opportunity to buy a used for cheap has come up. I know for fact they have a great- feeling neck having rented one for a few weeks. Playability to the max. Good enough for Mick Jones, good enough for me!
Proper decent guitars 🤘💯
I played one 7 years ago. Very nice guitar for the money. I loved it.
Wasn't one of these as they got released in 2019!
@@theguitarmanifesto okay thanks, it was an earlier Squier Thinline then here in Canada. Looked very similar.
@@avanm420 probably an early Chinese classic vibe, great build quality.
Neck for the arpeggio, bridge for the chords and both for the lead 👌🏼
I think it is a fine guitar. I have had great luck with Squier guitars. I love Telecaster guitars. I hope to buy a used Squier Telecaster and Your review has made up my mind to do it. Thanks.
Squier are awesome guitars, just make you fully stretch your string and set the action etc. This Tele is awesome I highly recommend them 🎸🤘
I have two of these because they are great guitars!!! Funnily though, I found out one of them is actually made from fender parts so it has an ash body instead.
Another great video from one of my favorite yt channels
Thank you very much 👌
@@theguitarmanifesto No problem 💯
I just bought this same model in mint condition for $200 bucks! Only the neck and some saddles needed adjustment to my liking. I play a lot of Texas Country and rock music. It’s a beefed up Telecaster IMO and I love it!! I haven’t tried out the MIM or the new Vintage II to compare but I’m interested to hear if anyone has had the opportunity.
Got mine today, it's killer!
Ah nice it's a fine guitar 🎸👌
Thank you great demo very appreciated, regarding your input about the body according to fender the body is Laminated Maple
with Alder center block which makes it affordable wood price 👍👍
Just got this guitar. I love it
Great guitars enjoy 😎🎸
Was that playing an particular song? That was genuinely one of the best things I've ever listened to
That was one of my own jams, glad you enjoyed thank you 🤘🎸
Love this Squiers. I hope I can mod mine soon.
I have bought this guitar, can't wait to see how it will scream with my Blackstar HT40 next week
Oh it'll be screaming that's for sure 👌
Nice guitar. The clean tones are good and the humbuckers are very clear. But when you demo the more distorted sounds, you could get those from almost any guitar with the right effects. They don't show off *this* guitar.
Says a lot about the guitar then 🤣🤣
Great review mate ! I think I am sold,,, I been wanting a tele for a long time now ! I just know I am going to be happy with this purchase ! TY , ,, 😁🖒✌
Thank you 🎸 it's an awesome guitar I highly recommend one 👌😎🤘
@@theguitarmanifesto Thanks again ! 😁🖒✌
Sounds great. I like the neck pickup the best. Excellent video.
They're awesome guitars, glad you enjoyed the video 🎸😎
Bridge pickup sounded really good distorted.
I've been playing bass for 20 years and decided to pick up my first guitar - was going to go all out and be stupid and spend as much as I would on a bass, hah, but instead I bought one of these because it seemed like a decent enough first electric guitar - if I hang with it for 3 years then I'll go all out!
I would love this with a bigsby
Yeah that would be awesome
The squier wide range pickups are a little on the thin side IMO. But, none the less it's a great player. I also dig your song a lot. The distorted section has a bit of a blur / bends era radiohead vibe to it. Great video. Sub'd!
just picked one up out of impulse, GC had em on special $100 off. the semi hollow with dual fender designed Humbuckers sold me. something different
Always better when it's on sale 👌🎸
I'd played a G&L Asat thin line Tele and it suffered from the same lack of attention to detail around the F-hole but these are budget guitars I suppose so can't be massively picky.
chillin with a new geetar just shredding...
Never liked electric guitars with accoustic future (dont know how to name it), but starting to like Telecasters shape... Thinking of getting one, but with Hot Rails or Duncan JR, what do you think about that setup? For grunge/punk of course
Yeah them pickups would be much better than the stock pups for sure
Keep the bridge pickup like a tele they just got suck a nice bite to them and great for punk prog or anything. Do what you want with the neck though never was a fan of the regular tele neck pickup.
No r WRONG it's not Veneered....it's REAL MAPLE..neck 1/4sawn NECK.. mine , the Pickup's are Duncan Designed...and sound PRETTY darn good..why BUY it and butcher it.. if you play grunge or PUNK...get a Solid BODY.... instead.
@@leesagomez6615 or people can do what they want with a guitar they own?
@@leesagomez6615
Squire is junk anyways.
I was told NEVER alter
my 2002-FENDER woodvibes f-hole thin line.
Never would.
But an Asian Squire?
Why not?
If i play professionally?
I’ll get anal & change “a” pick-up on my
“FENDER TELECASTER”🇺🇸
Fuck a Squire.
Who cares?💡
People often assume the f-hole makes more of a difference sound-wise than it really does. More than anything these are just lighter-weight Teles. I’ve grown to love the semi-hollow Teles more and more once I’ve realized this.
Great tune and playing!
Yes it's certainly a lot lighter either way makes for an awesome 🎸
Thank you glad you liked the tune
I'm not as crazy about the pickups as I am the other classic vibe teles and strats, maybe with a good set of P-90's in it may sound better, I have a 2010 classic vibe 60s custom Telecaster that's amazing and a 2008 classic vibe 60s stratocaster that's great... squier seems to be coming full circle which is great for us that's not rich and it's inexpensive and easy to change pots & switches out which isn't bad for the price
Fun fact the earlier Chinese classic vibes used Tonerider pickups
your song reminds me of the san francisco band - jellyfish
Awesome 🎸👌
Who else is here vibing out to the demo?
Rock on 🎸😎
After seeing your demo, I've bought this guitar and love it; thanks ! is it possible to have the tabs of the music you played ?
Ah awesome it's a great guitar enjoy, I play by ear sorry
Arrrgghhh - may need to spend the families Christmas present money that I had set aside on one of these for myself instead !
😂😂 I'm sure your family will understand 🎸🤘
You could play them a Christmas songs !
for sure you should....don't think twice or else that tele will vanish
Nice sound and jam. Not really into the aesthetics of this one, but I wouldn't mind a try. I used to love all things Tele until I found my Vintage VS6 SG. Now it's my favourite and my Tele has taken a back seat. I sold my Squier Tele Custom, and even picked up my strat again for full step down nirvana business ✌🏻️😎
Oh wow you mean business dude 😎😮 yeah definitely try one out
The wood grain looks great on this guitar
She's a beaut 👌🎸
Hi buddy, I love the look of the guitar but your right about the pickups ,they sound more like a single coil pickup. Too bad but I have a Squier classic vibe stratocaster '60's that has shitty pickups, I only use the 4th position. I've been looking at the Yamaha Nexstar RSS02T and their damn good guitars for the money and the tone is fantastic not chimy like the Squier humbuckers. Well I'm glad I found out before I bought it, thanks.
You've highlighted it very well!
Thank you 🎸🤘
@@theguitarmanifesto and now I've got to procure one!
Guess I missed this video but Damnit that's a Great looking Telecaster love the thin lines and it Sounds incredible!!!!! Rock on Rob 🎸🤘☮️
Never too late for party 😂 yeah she's a beaut very iconic look
Sounds awesome 😎😎😎 looks really cool too 😃 your playing is class bro 👊👊✌️👌✨ missed your shows and content
Thanks bro it's a fine guitar 😎🎸🤘
Hey Rob! Love the sounds you got out of that Tele, really nice. Considering getting one of these myself after this review! Like the wide range hum-buckers.
Also, I was wondering if you would feature my cover of 'Aneurysm' (I did guitar and vocals) on your sort of Grunge Isn't Dead music series, I really like the series and I want to reach a wider audience which isn't easy starting out on YT as I'm sure you know! It my first vocals and guitar cover too. Thanks in advance!
It is a nice guitar looks and plays awesome, glad you enjoyed the video 🤘
Unfortunately I only showcase original music due to copyright and videos getting flagged sorry bro
The Guitar Manifesto Oh yes! Sorry! Totally forgot about that Rob. UA-cam these days lol. Well thanks anyway.
Yep they don't make life easy, covers are well and truly done on UA-cam anyway way too many cover channels, you soon get lost in the crowd
The Guitar Manifesto Yeah, I try to do their things as well as covers one my channel but there certainly are a lot of cover channels.
I agree to Harald, it is great guitar.......
Classic looks and tones.
Most definitely
Bought one 2 years ago. The pickups had fender logos, the new ones don’t. Also mine is nice and light whereas the newer ones are really heavy . I suspect the older ones are better. Never less I changed the pickups to Cats Whiskers as the originals didn’t have the clarity I wanted. Also changed the tuners as originals wouldn’t stay in tune. The sound is now very good but both e strings fall off the frets occasionally as they bevelled the edges too much, maybe it was just mine. I’m thinking of swapping out neck with one where the frets go right up to the edge.
Better to bring it to a good luthier and those problems will go away. Sometimes it´s better a proper setup than upgrading things.
Awesome review as always
Thank you 🤘🎸
Awesome & sounds awesome too !! Kinda a shame they put poplar core in them as the originals where full maple or ash i believe.
The original type 1 & 2 Thinline Telecaster had alder bodies on the solid colours & ash on the "Groovy Naturals" . They made prototypes, solid maple guitars and a semi hollow spruce top with no f hole but never produced Thinlines with maple bodies .
Gotta go with what they use I guess 🤘🎸
During the CBS days they had a misprint issue. I don't understand how but apparently had issues.
I love this guitar.
Catching up on videos I am glad that I finally got to this one and from the first note I fell in love with it!
This Tele was a fine guitar I did love the sounds of these wide range humbuckers 😎🎸
I bought one some years ago. The guitar has a fantastic build quality and a perfect neck and action. Excellent tuning stability with the strings which I am using (10-52). The bigger low-end strings (in combination with the sound hole) provide a solid low-frequency foundation so that the guitar is very versatile (from Rock, Blues to Jazz). But the stock pickups (so called reissued wide-range humbuckers) are crap (not the vintage CuNiFe magnets, just cheap ceramic magnets). I tried probably 12 different replacements pickups (with another pickguard for normal humbucker size). I finally settled with a pair of cheap, no-name Chinese P90s (in humbucker format) which are (for my taste) beating (by far) all the expensive stuff I tested (e.g. Seymour Duncan pups). I also switched the bridge saddles against a set made from massive brass. My verdict: For the very reasonable price this guitar is a real steal and I will never give it away.
Side note this is the newer crafted in Indonesia model they was released earlier this year, yours would have been the earlier Chinese version
@@theguitarmanifesto he may be referring to the older VM which was still Indonesian made
Got one of these nice player pups are meh but a treble bled helps with the mud.
New pots and caps can help them also.
@@theguitarmanifesto that’s the next phase thanks for the feed back.
Awesome demo! Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it 🎸👌😊
Lovely looking and sounding guitar, but I wish they made it in a satin finish!
Fine sand paper and you're good to go 😁
Sounds good distorted. The pickups are ok , I like the neck better.
Yeah the neck pickup is the best 🎸🤘
Does anyone else have this guitar? The neck feels a lot thicker than my other Classic Vibes, a Strat and a Starcaster. I was a little surprised, as the Fender website seems to say that they use the same necks for all of their Classic Vibe guitars.
Felt the same as all the other classic vibes to me
Rob I really trust your opinion and taste. Which are the 3 best guitars you have ever played? I'm planning on getting a new guitar these days and every day it's getting even harder to choose as I watch your videos.
New current models only?
do you prefer clean or heavier stuff.
Short or longer scale?
@@theguitarmanifesto I prefer single coils. I don't care about scale length. The nut must be >41.5mm. Medium sized neck profile . New models preferably. The music that I will play will be rock n roll, 60s garage surf, Beatles, blues , some alternative things and some fuzzy things. I want to be able to play clean tones.
Maybe look at the Classic Vibe Jazzmaster or even this thinline Tele both class acts 👌
@@theguitarmanifesto Thanks! Now I guess your favorite is the j mascis or the car jm deluxe. Am I right?
Most definitely they are top notch 👌🤘
Amazing show my friend.
Thank you very much 👌🎸🤘🇬🇧
Agree about the neck & fretboard finish, would prefer natural/unfinished all around like on the Affinity series Teles. Looking at a floor/demo model in 3-tone sunburst, trying to decide if I want to pull the trigger. Not sure I like the sound of the wide-range humbuckers though, way too thin/tinny in my opinion.
That's why I was discouraged, they sound cheap and chimy, too bad for such a cool looking guitar.
Squire will take you higher 👆 🔥
The thing I like a about semi hollow with humbuckers is that they have a deep vibrating humming
Adds to a fuller sound 🤘👌
I've been looking for a budget guitar to play fingerstyle chord melody and I don't like the huge archtops and am a bit turned off by the aesthetics of the fish shaped guitar. This couldn't be more perfect. And nice 90's grunge tune
Nice sounding guitar!
They're awesome 🎸😎
Looks awesome and sounds dope bro. 🤘
She certainly does look awesome, I was kinda disappointed with the pickups, the old Vintage modified wide range pickups I think sound much better
It seems like the VMs are all better in general.
Yes I think so
Great sounding guitar I wouldn't change a thing, why would anyone?
Because it sounds thin. With higher quality pickups it would send this thing to the next level
Depending what sound you want from a guitar thicker ain't better
@@theguitarmanifesto Those pickups are too thin bro
@@theguitarmanifesto squier pickups are not high quality. That’s where they have to cut cost on their guitars. That’s why a lot of good smart gigging musicians change them out for higher quality. More clarity and dynamics
@@BlackWolfTribe again depends what sound you're after I've owned 100s of squiers

?? Any idea about the pots are they CTS 500 or 250, because according to DylanTalksTone he thinks they are 250 that's why he replaced them with 500 ones as a mod, please let us know what you think and what about the humbucker wide range pickups and the sticker on them stands for!! Thanks appreciated great demo mate 👍👍

have you looked at the 60s thinline?
if so which one do you prefer, 70s or 60s?
If your gonna do some upgrades do 60s
@@vdogfc What is it about the 60s Thinline that is better for upgrading?
My 60s tele is so bright it was unusable. Changed the bridge to Gotoh with brass barrels, put in tone rider hot classics heavier 10s and Gotoh tuners. Not plugged in yet. It’s late now I’m tired. Build is good, I’m hoping the brightness has gone away. We will see.
I have the fender one but there is never any humb, it is much cleaner sound that the squier. Not sure which is best now
hum is a grounding/shielding issue which can be solved for very cheap
