  • Welcome to another instalment of Psychology Skill of the Week with school Psychologist Dr Carla Humphrys.
    This week Dr Humphrys talks about the term Defusion, in relation to thoughts, which is referred to a lot in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
    It means being able to separate or distance yourself from your thoughts and seeing them for what they are, words and pictures. Defusion can assist us with viewing thoughts in terms of how helpful they are, instead of how true they are, and learning that thoughts do not control our actions.
