  • Tig welding a broken aluminum transmission case for a local transmission shop. No fake UA-cam welding here. This is the whole job! Shows you how long it actually takes to weld broken aluminum properly. This is my process for repairing a broken boss from an aluminum transmission housing. I hope it helps if you've got a broken transmission case boss or dowel you are thinking of repairing. Slow and thorough is the way to go!

    No response yet . Well here goes - got pretty good sized crack on AC compressor mounting bolt goes into oil pan . So far no problem yet ..Would mechanics normally weld or they do something else to fix something like this ?

      I would not normally weld an ac compressor. There are rubber and temperature sensitive parts inside. If you were going to repair I would completely disassemble and then weld, so you don't damage anything. Then get a seal kit / rebuild kit to reassemble.

    One of the bolt holes is missing a big Hole how would I fix it?
