Thanks to a couple viewers I found out the tech manual has the incorrect R134a charge listed for 13.6L engines. It is supposed to have a charge of 4.75 lbs instead of 4.25 lbs. So the next day I went out and put a 1/2 lb more into the system. Now it is correct. Thanks guys!
When I service AC, I always weigh what I recover, that way I know what effect the leak (if any) had on the system. And total confidence that the low charge was the entire issue!
I really do like that tractor. Not too big, not too small and that front loader is sweet. I watch your videos, I rarely say anything. Be good, be safe !
Happy subscriber has put a 👍 ✔️.when I found this channel, I didn't know how much I would like it. However, this channel has Zoomed to the top of my list of much watch. Thanks for sharing again.
Nice little tractor, congrats. Also, it's heartening to see I'm not the only one who forgets battery switches. Set down in the machine wondering why it won't start, walk half way across to the shop to fetch the charger only to realize that I forgot the stupid battery cutoff.
I service vacuum pumps (also known as blower pumps) in the dairy industry and learning about how vacuum works absolutely blows my mind, we can automatically regulate it through how fast a cow is giving off her milk. Vacuum/blower pumps are freaking awesome and it’s sweet that we’ve found a way to manipulate it to benefit farmers. Love the videos, surprisingly seeing you diagnose/explain things has helped me understand more in my field, appreciate the awesome videos, keep it up!!
My dad bought a 955 largely for me when I was 12. I still love that tractor. It still surprises me what it can do in such a small package. It's a jack of all trades, excluding all field work of course.
The 955 looks pristine. The late 1990s John Deere compact tractors are very very desirable. Minimal electronics. Parts available. Mine is a 1997 John Deere 770 purchased new by me in 1997. It's in the same condition as yours. It's 20hp, manual transmission with the original 70 loader on it. I use it with a 60" brush cutter, the loader (with a home made 800 lb counterweight), 55 gallon boom sprayer. I put an iMatch hitch on it almost when they came out. This 812 year old loves that iMatch.
Really appreciate the videos. I got admissions to become a part + agricultural equipment tech in sask polytechnic, and I'm hoping to move there this August. Your videos have given me a real insight into the job. I was extremely intimidated when I took the course (I've worked in a regular car shop, never even touched a tractor). Your videos are extremely helpful. Thanks boss.
Thanks for another great video. It was interesting and enjoyable. Congratulations on your 955 tractor. Looks like a super nice one. Hard to find one not all bet up. Can hardly tell this one was used. Ben well taken care of. Will make you a nice tractor ZK. Nice work on the AC system on that tractor. Appears it needed some fine tuning so to speak. You got it going after some tests and loading back up with refrigeration fluid. Fixed. About it I guess. Thanks for everything ZK. Take care and be safe. The Iowa Farm Boy.
Zeth another exceptional video. Enjoy your knowledge and repair method. Congratulations on you new purchase of a JohnDeere. I have a 09 model JohnDeere 2305 has 523 hrs with 200cx loader. I love it. Lol! Definitely look you up at the next one. Stay safe!!
Did i hear you correctly when you said that you had to go back to the shop for an ac vacuum machine? I'd have thought that would have been the first thing on the truck when going to an ac service call. Nice little tractor. A neat trick with the torch on the steering wheel.
Now that sure is a fine looking 955 Zeth, and for its age with those low hours it has many many more years ahead of it. Will be great to see it once you do your improvements and updates. Great video as always.
I have seen a service valve tool that will let you change those schraders out without taking all the coolant (and oil) out of the system. Not sure you would have been able to get that tool onto the valves with the hood in the way like that though. If you can get them in there, they make the job a LOT quicker and cheaper!
Yeah I need to get one. But yeah I think you're right. Dont think it would have fit in that situation without putting the hood in the service position. It was way too windy out that day to do that to the hood. I think I put the mastercool one in my Amazon store. Check the link in the description.
Hey Zeth, I was out to 5 of these tractors yesterday! Found some interesting things to consider. All of the tractors I went out to had HVAC Low Pressure Codes ATC 871.17 or 518349.04 logged. There is a DTAC that mentions that for model year 2023 9R tractors only, they have approved an increase to 4.75lbs refrigerant charge. I also found on one tractor that the high side line that runs just under the compressor has a fitting that is commonly found loose (can see this fitting connection @ 11:11) up here on new tractors.
Sometimes I wonder how they come up with refrigerant volumes. I've filled systems of all flavors to factory fill off a prefect vacuum. Watched the pressures while in operation.... and knew the system is under charged. As I get older the less I care what the manufacture says.
Love the 955’s!! I was just looking for one on Machine Finder! If you would happen to find another one that is Mint let me know!!!! They are the 4020’s of compacts!!!
Do you think your torch technique would work on faded black plastic molding on cars? My 1025r hood is a hot mess from Yaupon holly branch scratches. I need to buff it but I'm afraid of burning it with the compound. Got a good suggestion for a technique video? I enjoy watching your channel even though I only have the littlest green iron...
Nice video thanks for taking us along. By the way was that a Sloan dealership that burned a month or so ago? Hope no one got hurt. Looked like a pretty bad fire.
Will you produce a 955 in use video ala The Milenial Farmer? Would love to see a tractor that size at work. Thanks for the great videos. Do you watch the aTrippyFarmer videos? Signed a lover of John Deere green.
I’m curious how you hook the shop A/C machine up to that recovery tank to recycle the refrigerant? I have the same mobile set up on my service truck but I haven’t had to empty my recovery tank yet.
Hi Zeth I got a 1999 750 deere my bucket is drifting down with weight I don’t see any witness of fluid leaking dust around the cylinders ports where would be a good point I should look and do you think it might be getting blow by? Thanks
dont knock case IH they came out with the first quad track tractor and its a heck of lot better then Deere track tractor John Deere u pay high price for the name and there tractors are junk in my book
@davidlieurance8194 but that’s what green and red guys do…I was just kidding. Guess I just won’t joke around anymore and be really serious all the time.
Zeth I hope you just keep being you, as guys all over the world have a bit of fun at each other. Its the exact same here in the UK, and people like Mr Lieurance need to get a life!
@@ZKMasterTech Zeth, I am a retired farmer. I owned John Deere equipment for these reasons- I had excellent service from my John Deere dealer. My John Deere equipment was very reliable. And when I retired, my John Deere equipment sold very well. (Some of my equipment sold for more than what I paid for it when it was new because of regular JD service and enough machine shed storage for all of my equipment.) Case IH and other companies make very good equipment too. I happened to be loyal to John Deere, but I still enjoyed the razzing from Case IH guys. Trying to figure out a clever response to that razzing kept my mind sharper!!! I suggest that you continue to be the way you have been. I enjoy watching and learning about what service techs do. Your videos help other people understand what service techs do, especially during busy seasons. A little humor along the way is a very good thing. DB
That's a NICE 955 brother! Congrats on that for sure! Don't make um like they used to. But you know that. 😏 I restore the 300 and 400 series from 83 to 92. Hobby passion. I take everything apart. Gotta do them justice. They are lifetime machines.
I wouldn’t weld the holes; on random projects you could stick threaded rod with nuts through the holes and attach chains, ropes, d-rings, etc. idk, just my thoughts but it’s your tractor; and congrats on the purchase!

Sweet tractor! I have a 1983 John Deere 750 with 2200 Hours, I love the way it blows black exhaust when you rev it up! Great video!
Very nice looking 955. I have an 855 and 955, they are great tractors.
I bought a 955 new in about 1994 and loved it. I moved to the Philippines so I sold it and the dozen or so implements I had with it.

Knowing you that 955 will be a bad ass jd when you get through with it

You could take the seat to an automotive custom upholstery shop and have them re pad and install leather upholster the contact areas, green stitching.

You need to watch Ivers farm they planted 12mph too with Case IH (Red runs fast too)
Money can’t buy happiness but it can buy tractors, which is pretty much the same thing
Nice! My first was the j.d. 870. A little light for what I used it for,but it worked out just fine. Big bales were too much
You are the Dr. Than You
You’re fine as long as however and wherever you’re loading it into won’t allow liquid refrigerant to hit the compressor when it first tries to run.

@@ZKMasterTech what !! When we were kids we bought 4 955 new! We had 2 855 and 1 755! The 755 is like a 2510 GS Power shift!
We haven’t even started planting. We don’t start normally till may 1 st to middle of may , I heard Deere is messing with something called exact shot ?
I do AC work just like you do.

It’s either leaking internally in the cylinder or loader valve.
Thanks I’ll dig into it this weekend great videos Zeth ✌️awesome work!
I thought the biggest was 620hp
Hey ZK what scale did you use for your AC job there?
Mastercool. You can buy it in my Amazon store front. Link is in the description.
Are you on call on the weekends?
Nope! We work Saturdays but we are off every Sunday
No regen!
Amen!
Get yourself a digital vacuum gauge. Using gauges not accurate. More info can be learned from a trustable vacuum gauge. Peace out!
not the correct draw bar yours is straight the og was bent
