Great video, Ben! I just got the DJI RS3 Mini and this video was a great overview. Random question, what mic are you using for this video? You sound is top tier. Very well done!
For a while I’ve been shooting on the rigged out S1H + Crane 3s for clients, but recently I’ve been looking for a more travel friendly kit. The new RS Mini is definitely the perfect size to pair with the Lumix S5 iix! I can’t wait to start shooting with this.
You are wrong. It’s totally possible to charge it while shooting. Just plug a usbC to power bank. I had a powerbank in my pocket charging rs3 and rs3 connected to sony camera charging the camera.
@@benmack if I flipped to vertical would I have to rebalance the whole gimbal? Currently it needs to be done on my gimbal. Also with an external monitor I need access to the HDMI port. Won’t holding it vertical impact on the port?
You have a SmallRig cage on your camera for shooting vertically right? Do you think it makes it feel more balanced? I have been trying to shoot vertically but it just feels off.
Performance will likely be comparable. But adding another mount makes the RS3 heavier and slower to setup. But in the Mini, you're removing a mount, so it becomes lighter and easier to setup.
1st thanks for your nice and amazing videos.. I am using my setup for dental shooting , but I want to dive through vediography , want to do artistic dental vediography. . So I want to ask if the dji 3 mini will handle my setup. That's my setup , Canon eosR with Canon macro lens 100mm RF . Also, I want to ask if can I fix led light on the cam. Or the gimbal while vediography. Thanks & best regards
@Ben Mack thanks for your reply dear .. ⚘️⚘️ what is the best vediography lens to use with the Eos R ?? I am using the canon 100mm rf macro .. but can't use the 4K while using it .. due to the crop. I will mainly use it for vediography for face & and smiles and need it to capture the fine details in the teeth . So what lens do you recommend & also what led light you recommend ??
@@ahmedelshall8946 it might be worth looking at a 24-70mm with some decent close focusing. There are so many video lights out there. Just grab any with a minimum 60w power and pair it with a soft box so it doesn’t give too harsh shadows.
@Ben Mack was thinking about 14 - 35 rf , What do u think?? Regading light, i had a pair of the Godox M1 RGB Mini , but I don't know how will it be the result yet .. what do you think ?? And how can I fix the light on the dji mini rs3
Hi Ben! Is the joystick operable in vertical mode? Because in Zhiyun Crane M3 portrait mode the joystick won't work at all. I wonder if it's the same with the RS 3 mini
Sideways movement? it is astonishing nearly none of the youtubers testing the rs3 mini don't do any POV demonstration. Because it cannot do it.. simple. motor not strong enough. if i am wrong show us sideways movement.
@@benmack You must try to incline a bit on the left or the right (so sideways), just 5 or 10 degrees for example, at start then a bit more, and see if the gimbal collapse. if it hold, it means your combo is good. But i have seen on one reviewer video that a just rotation on the left was creating the collapse of the gimbal and the camera hit hard the gimbal. A weebill 3 or bigger gimbal can handle such POV (FPV) creative shot when you incline on the side the gimbal. i have the feeling that it is the weakness of the Dji rs3 mini. however it is probably very good for standing shot. but the guys was just inclining very little to make it collapse.
What gimbal are you currently using?
RS3 Mini
It's nice to have this neat and compact gimbal that delivers just as well as the other RS3 models!
It really is!

I'm using the Rode NTG. But there's a bit of post processing too
Great vid Ben! Super insightful
thanks mate!
Was considering this vs the RS3. As I shoot mostly in vertical you've sold me on the Mini 🤝
Glad I could help!

Can i use the a7iii with the samyang 85mm 1.4 and sigma 24 70 2.8 in Vertical on the gimbal?
I think that should be good 👍🏽
All Ronin models are outstanding regardless of how old or how new. This mini one is another game changer!
Totally agree with you on this!
Times totally changing, now we can just pull out a gimbal from a backpack and still get professional quality experience.
Yep indeed they are changing! Probably not going to stop either!

I reckon that combo would totally be a winner. The new S5ii looks very nice too
Great review! What lens did you have on there? I’m wondering how this handles a 24-70 in vertical mode specifically
Thanks a bunch! Yep. I was using an 85mm prime so it should be fine

Nice one Ben. Would you upgrade if you had the RSC2?
I think I would

@@ctsee you do need to rebalance it each time you change over. Which would be annoying. In terms of the hdmi port. I’d have to check on that one.
@@ctsee The HDMI port would get in the way, but an L angled HDMI cord would be be a good workaround

Not really. I’ve been shooting with the Sony ZVE1 more recently with no cage. Seems easier to balance.
are you using the small rig cage with it without using the provided arca Swiss plate ?
Yep. Spot on.
Hey I have a question. Why you used small rig for vertical shoot. Is their any issue for vertical calibration without rig ?
You definitely don’t have to. I just have always had one on my A7S3 since I bought it. But the gimbal work’s completely fine without the cage too.
Hey thanks 👍🏻 I am little confused between weebill s and rs3 mini will you suggest me to buy ?
Ciao !! In your opinion, will the RS 3 with DJI R Vertical Camera Mount perform better vertically?
The structure is similar I think

What do you think about using with eos r+ tamron 24-70 ?
Shouldn't be an issue
Can I use a canon sl2 + sigma 18-35 on this gimbal?
I think so, don't see why not. They combine to be under 2kgs so it should handle it nicely.

Yep. Can handle both of those. I’d probably fix a light to the gimbal though. Just as it would be easier to balance
