The funniest part about the legion is that since unlike every other Chaos Legion they didnt retreat to the Eye of Terror it means they are the Chaos Legion with the least amount of memories from the Horus Heresy, and they went through the same decline as the rest of the Imperium, only forever doomed to fight a Shadow War and use Chaos as further boost for the most part. So none actually remembers wtf were they supposed to do and thus all have their own quirks and identity, despite not having any as they are spies lol
The Alpha Legion is a legion which is most like a donut in that they are carbon based, have a opening at either end, and are made in bakeries from kidnapped children.
It makes me happy that they committed to this so much that they straight up wrote books that borderline ended with "There's a good chance everything you've been reading for the past few hours is complete bullshit Alpharius (or Omegon (or a random ass marine from the legion)) made up to either throw you off their trail or just to fuck with you"
Also to clarify the "First or last to be discovered, or both" (specifically the or both part) it's possible that Alpharius was discovered last, but Omegon had been with the emperor since the start, making them both the first and last to be discovered
Alpha legion are cool concept and decent meme, and I hear their primarch book is pretty good. A minor criticism would be that they lean a bit too much into the mastermind theme without really going beyond “it was the alpha legion all along!” But they are still really cool and their 30k design is really nice.
I think it's kind of part of their ego to do the whole mastermind thing. They *really* want people to know they're unknowable without letting them know, y'know?
Alpha Legion. That moment when you get way into Metal Gear Solid V, Face:Off, and Memento and begin doing psyops off your local Feds, during the middle of their psyops.
imagine if you will a whole chapter of space marines who are actually sleeper agents and every time this chapter recruits new members and does the standard mind wipes or mental conditioning on them as any other chapter would, they actually put activation code into the mind of another astartes from the very startm meaning that not even chapter master or any actual member would know that Like imagine this happening, a 1000 marins who all though themselves to be normal chapter like blood ravens and such, suddently turn to alpha legion because apharius comes back, says that he faked his death for 10k and then uses the code phrase to wake an entire chapter as if he was summoning some fuckin army out of nowhere
Ah, yes, wonderful. Now that we've come to the end of this 20 part series on Space Marine Legions, it means you can now focus all your efforts on a 20-part series on Eldar Craftworlds. Deeeelish!
Wow I can’t believe we’re already here, I’ve been with the series since dark angel and just want to say that this has actually been some of the best UA-cam warhammer lore content that I have as yet consumed and I can’t wait to see what @Mr.Bones40K dose in the future
how confusing is the alpha legion? in the arks of omen arc, a group of the alpha legion with Belakor ruined Vashtor plans to attack the dark angels rock, right in the next book we learn that vashtor has a group of the alpha legion infiltrated in the death watch working for him.
I've heard, *only heard*, from other people that their main goal is to stop mankind for completely collapsing. That if chaos wins or if the emperor got his wish, it would be bad for humanity as a whole. That's why they seem like they play for both sides.
@@rockchik409 I kind of see the alpha legion like snakes with two heads (bicephaly), in nature when a snake is born with 2 heads, they will likely die because the heads fight between them, often compiting for food, or wanting to go to different direction and since both head control the same body they end up don't go anywere. the Hydra is the perfect symbol for them lol
Heavily inspired by Isaac Asimov’s foundation I think. Remember Gw rips everything off from other sci-fi properties. A lot of the big E’s actions would be explained by him foreseeing the future and manipulating things in such a way to ensure the survival of mankind. The alpha legion represents the group that keep the path on course, good or bad they seem to be manipulating events for a greater cause.
Things make a bit more sense when you stop looking at the Alphalegion as a whole. Look at them as the same way you would look at the Nightlords, various bands of desperate individual renegades. Some are loyal playing a long con, some fell to chaos and its promises while others just fucked off into the galaxy. Also I believe Alpharius was the 1st Primarch found but since the legion required both of them, you can't count it as a whole. Just 0.5 of a Primarch found so no point in counting them or trying to round up when their whole purpose is supposed to be espionage.
A ship full of 500 Ultramarines has been in the warp for weeks. In the mess hall one day, 499 of them all draw bolt pistols and all shoot each other dead. The 500th guy, left alive and confused, was the only actual Ultramarine. The rest were all pretending the whole time, so well in fact that none of them figured out everyone else was also alpha legion (not real lore but a good example of the meme)
An underrated legion surely. In the games(and the "hunt for voldorius" novel), they're the punching bag and moustache-twirling villains. In novels (post-heresy notables are sons of the hydra, shroud of night and renegades harrowmaster), they are the force to be reckoned with, especially in latter (main character has been shown here, with dreads, demonic left arm and partial pale spear, think of him as alpha legion's answer to decimus from night lords trilogy).
I can explain the third head on their hydra logo; that is Alpharius! Why you ask? Cause clearly the first two are just space marines impersonating the primarchs.
I had planned to make a warband lead by "Epsileous" who always implied that he was the third head of the hydra. Now im kinda lost in other projects but maybe I'll get back to it one day.
Dark Angels and Alpha Legion have a lot points of contrast, I've found. Besides being the first and the last, respectively, they also have contrasting cultures. The Dark Angels are paranoid as fuck, and the Alpha Legion are the ones who would make you paranoid if you knew their MO. Besides that, the Dark Angels (before the Lion's return, at least) had an ongoing thing about their loyalty being in question, while the Alpha Legion's betrayal may have been a lie this entire time. The two legions are also split between loyalist and traitor, the Dark Angels with their Fallen, Unforgiven, and now Risen subfactions, and the Alpha Legion with their Loyalist/Traitor split between their twin Primarchs' diverging motives.
The whole, "or that could be an Alpha Legion ploy" is really just the by-product of bad writing. It leaves the writers a way to retconn something or alter the meaning of something that has occured in the universe. Wanna right Alpharius back into the lore after being killed?....Alpha Legion. Golden Throne starting to fail? Alpha Legion.
The Alpha Legion symbol is a 3 headed hydra. Could this imply that the twins had a third sibling? That would bring the number of primarchs back to 20. What could this mean for the 2nd and 11th? In this essay, I will
Another iconography trick of the Alpha legion(if we can believe it) is that the higher rank you are in a squad the less ornate your armour is. Drawing attention of would be assassins onto the lowest ranking member of the group. But at the same time Alpha Legionaires are all trained with more independence. So they can act alone when on stealth or infiltration missions. Which also leads to any Alpha legionaire being capable of taking command if their leader is killed. So who knows if that's true. Did you kill the seargent just for the nextguy in line to easily take control? Or did you kill the leastimportant person andleader is still around? Even on a macro level this works. Cause when G-man killed supposedly Omegon. it didn't take long for the entire legion to rally, decimate the ultramarines ina counter attack, and nearly trapped G-man on the wrong side of the battlelines.
I think the Alpha Legion might be my favorite. :) Congrats on seeing this through! It's given me a lot of food for thought on the Space Marines, introduced me to the ones I didn't really know much about and has been generally just a fun time. :3 Keep on.
My favourite piece of Alpha Legion lore is one time when they took over a planet of psykers by gasing the ENTIRE PLANET which made the people have dreams of snakes falling from the sky, and because they're psykers, venomous snakes actually started raining down and killing the local populous.
There's a line where "intriguingly mysterious" stops being interesting and starts seeming like a bunch of jangling keys to distract from a lack of real depth. Alpha Legion play jump rope with that line.
My favorite bit of lore was an Alpha Legion warband psycho-indoctrinating Space Marines of a loyalist chapter to turn on their brothers and later adding them to their warband later.
Naaahhh Arthur you need to elaborate on that last part. What kind of crackpot theory says Sigmar is the third triplet to Alpharius and Omegon? Or do you mean to serve Sigmar? I'm so confused!
I love the bit where the novices are covered head to toe in relics and symbols to misdirect snipers. The actual leaders and veterans are in the most simple armor
I have learned the true secret of the Alpha Legion. In all the backdealing, manipulation, and scheming, they literally forgot who they intended to support. Everything grew to be too complicated and the plot got away from them. They don't remember whose side they're on. The end.
I love their Hydra theme, because just how when you cut off a Hydra's head and two more grow back, when you think you've finally killed Alpharius, two identical assholes appear a week later calling themselves Alpharius.
Finaly. Memelegion. Great job on the Vid and the Entire Series. Almoast sad to See it already over Also. I gues you could say that the Alpha legion went Scitso Mode. Cause trust nobody. Not even youreself
Thank you so much fpr covering them! They are by far my favorite legion. I had a feeling that they would be the last legion to be covered. Now with the legions over, im guessing the xenos are next?
Yep. Love em. I love their duality. I love their calculating, conniving, and chaotic methods. I might be mis remembering but aren't they the only legion to find a certain truth about the future, so they decided that their tactics were going to be a huge focal point about Imperial victory and moving the Imperium through the future? I love that everything is on the table, the implant kill phrases, the plans A through D also all have contingency plans and almost nothing that occurs is far from their mark. Even a "set back" might move things to be positioned where they want them. How can you not love them?
I like the idea of the Alpha Legion being these expert infiltrators but I end up rolling my eyes at some of the feats they allegedly achieve. I wouldn't be surprised to read a story where a Custodes or Primaris Marine turns out to be an Alpha Legionnaire all along.
Both of those may have already happened. According to the Siege of Terra books, there's thousands of Alpha Sleeper agents among the rest of the legion. And in Head of the Hydra, Alpharius killed a Custodian and wore his armor as a disguise, only getting caught by Constantin Valdor due to his inhumanly accurate knowledge of every Custodian's armor and weapon.

When it comes to the Alpha Legion, use the old adage, "Kill them all and let the Emperor sort them out."
It's the only way to be sure.
Sounds like something an Alpha Legion agent within the Inquisition would say.
@@Gustav_Kuriga Kinda dumb, ultimately self-defeating... Yep, that sounds like them.
love the idea of putting a alpha legion painted necron in the middle of a marine squad
"Battle Brother! Your Plasma Rifle is looking quite strange!"
5 seconds in and I am disappointed. You had a golden opportunity for an Uhhh "Hi! Im Alpharius" :
Missed the opportunity to say “Hi, I’m Alpharius!”
Their entire lore can be summed by by the phrase "or it could be a psy-op".
"And Alpharius Omegon is a manlet."
-Lion El' Jonson
alpha legion are the humies equivalent of an ork covering himself in tin foil and infiltrating the necron side
You're acting like Trazyn the Infinite isn't Alpharius wearing a tinfoil hat
Alpha Legion. That moment when you get way into Metal Gear Solid V, Face:Off, and Memento and begin doing psyops off your local Feds, during the middle of their psyops.
imagine if you will
a whole chapter of space marines who are actually sleeper agents
and every time this chapter recruits new members and does the standard mind wipes or mental conditioning on them as any other chapter would, they actually put activation code into the mind of another astartes from the very startm meaning that not even chapter master or any actual member would know that
Like imagine this happening, a 1000 marins who all though themselves to be normal chapter like blood ravens and such, suddently turn to alpha legion because apharius comes back, says that he faked his death for 10k and then uses the code phrase to wake an entire chapter as if he was summoning some fuckin army out of nowhere
There is a sense of unease you make every time when you say "im arthur" that to me is so intriguing
Ah, yes, wonderful. Now that we've come to the end of this 20 part series on Space Marine Legions, it means you can now focus all your efforts on a 20-part series on Eldar Craftworlds. Deeeelish!
Honestly these guys are the coolest legion. Not the best, but the coolest
Wow I can’t believe we’re already here, I’ve been with the series since dark angel and just want to say that this has actually been some of the best UA-cam warhammer lore content that I have as yet consumed and I can’t wait to see what @Mr.Bones40K dose in the future
Hi Arthur, I'm Deez
Deez who?
DEEZ NUTSSS
FUCK
Hi, Deez I'm Alpharius
It’s just keeps going. Keep it up deez. You are a hero
how confusing is the alpha legion?
in the arks of omen arc, a group of the alpha legion with Belakor ruined Vashtor plans to attack the dark angels rock, right in the next book we learn that vashtor has a group of the alpha legion infiltrated in the death watch working for him.
So essentially The Second Foundation.
And now to start with every FOUNDING in order and their chapters! God that would be cray
0:55 Bro never heard about pokemon breeding 💀
"They're in the walls..."
"THEY'RE IN THE GODDAMN WALLS!!!"
Oh sweet. Excited to complete the pack of thicc space bois.
They could have been triplets and no one ever knew... or it could all be a psyop.
I can explain the third head on their hydra logo; that is Alpharius! Why you ask? Cause clearly the first two are just space marines impersonating the primarchs.
This has to be the fastest ive seen a relatively new channel get a sponsor!! Job well done Arthur
Im not a meme im Alpharius
The third head is the legion.
Goatfolk stownthrower sounds like an ork name honestly 😂😂😂
The whole, "or that could be an Alpha Legion ploy" is really just the by-product of bad writing. It leaves the writers a way to retconn something or alter the meaning of something that has occured in the universe.
Wanna right Alpharius back into the lore after being killed?....Alpha Legion.
Golden Throne starting to fail? Alpha Legion.
It's bad writing to give yourself a logical, in universe way to retcon something? I think it's the opposite of bad writing, personally...
The Alpha Legion symbol is a 3 headed hydra. Could this imply that the twins had a third sibling? That would bring the number of primarchs back to 20. What could this mean for the 2nd and 11th?
In this essay, I will
The third head is the legion itself
@@averageeughenjoyer6429 Or so they say... maybe that's what they want us to think.
@@secutorprimus They don't have the brains to do that sort of thing
SOooo there the "Mr.Smiths" (from the Matrix ) of 40k
The 3rd head is the legion it's self.
The third head is you. Applie pie. Imohtep. Flying Spaghetti. You know your mission. Do not fail.
Thought I'd leave a comment for once good job
Sigmar is one of the two lost primarchs. Change my mind.
Alpharius, Omegon, Sigmar... Yeah, that checks out
My favorite bit of lore was an Alpha Legion warband psycho-indoctrinating Space Marines of a loyalist chapter to turn on their brothers and later adding them to their warband later.
Naaahhh Arthur you need to elaborate on that last part. What kind of crackpot theory says Sigmar is the third triplet to Alpharius and Omegon? Or do you mean to serve Sigmar? I'm so confused!
Valrak is alpha legion confirmed.
I love the bit where the novices are covered head to toe in relics and symbols to misdirect snipers. The actual leaders and veterans are in the most simple armor
Alight now make a series like this but about every successor chapter in the space marines
I have learned the true secret of the Alpha Legion.
In all the backdealing, manipulation, and scheming, they literally forgot who they intended to support. Everything grew to be too complicated and the plot got away from them. They don't remember whose side they're on.
The end.
Tzeench be like: "My precious little baby boys T-T"
I love their Hydra theme, because just how when you cut off a Hydra's head and two more grow back, when you think you've finally killed Alpharius, two identical assholes appear a week later calling themselves Alpharius.
Good job in finishing
You should do some of these videos for some of a the smaller Space Marine chapters! A Black Templars vid would rule!!!
wdym smaller? that one of the biggest out there :D
Don’t forget the Alpha Legion was about to pull up and start murdering traitors at the Siege of Terror but some random women stopped it
Finaly. Memelegion. Great job on the Vid and the Entire Series. Almoast sad to See it already over
Also. I gues you could say that the Alpha legion went Scitso Mode. Cause trust nobody. Not even youreself
I saw a notification for this on my phone earlier today, and when I clicked on it it said video unavailable. Thats about as alpha legion as it gets
Ah yes, one of my favorite Legions
Because _I am Alpharius_
How soon will you be talking about successor chapters like the Space Sharks or the Spanish Marines/Crimson Fists?
Congrats on the sponsor!
@@OGXenos The saddest bit about the Alpha Legion is that GW is going to completely botch the reveal of what their real nature and motivations are.
the ultimate "i know what you are but what am i" legion
Sigmar is Alpharius/Omegon confirmed.
Great job getting the series done! Well Done!
It's here!!! The final episode of the Legions series hath cometh!
If you see this you should definitely do a video on the farsight version of the tau as a separate faction.
