Sorry people, but you just can't compare the talent of The Beatles and The Stones. 2 completely different styles. Just enjoy them for what they've given to our generation of music. People try to hard to make comparison of who's the best. It's just not about that. Especially with 2 groups like these.

Oh they do disappoint - they've been dining out on their back catalog for over 45 years - but due to their iconic status it's a case of some folk not being comfortable calling out the naked emperor. Cast your eye over some footage of their current tour & weep.
They should probably do a full stream devoted solely to the 1960's Stones. And then another one for the 70s, and another for the 80s, and maybe even another for the 90s.
A Honk Tonk is a bar that plays blues/county. “I met a gin-soak barroom queen in Memphis”. He met a chick in a bar, he can’t “seem to drink you off my mind”. He met her in a Honkytonk so she a Honky Tonk Women
It's a song about the "life" of a rockstar. Many times while I was playing music in "honky tonks", going home with the divorced bartender that dealt blow on the side was a regular thing.
Yup, Honky Tonk means a few things. Honky Tonk is a genre of country and rock mix, it's also harkening all of the way back to Hank Williams singing "We'll go honky tonkin', honky tonkin', we'll go honky tonkin 'round this town." Loose women is most likely what the Stone's song is referring to, which you probably would see in a Honky Tonk bar.
A honky-tonk is both a bar that provides country music for the entertainment of its patrons and the style of music played in such establishments. It can also refer to the type of piano (tack piano) used to play such music. Bars of this kind are common in the South and Southwest United States. Many eminent country music artists, such as Jimmie Rodgers, Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, Ernest Tubb, Johnny Horton, Carl Smith, and Merle Haggard, began their careers as amateur musicians in honky-tonks.
This may be where the other usage of the h part originated. New York is just saying that dive bars are everywhere. I think the song could be called "picking up women in bars is trouble".
This video illustrates your point perfectly: ua-cam.com/video/eQfNH--FpjI/v-deo.html It's also the best version of Jerry Lee and "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On" and illustrates the early rock culture for those not aware of the times.
This song is from the period when the Stones were very into country music and hanging out with The Flying Burrito Brothers. There's a definite tip of the (cowboy) hat to It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels by Kitty Wells.
Keith Richards at his absolute purest. Plugged in, obviously stoned, slurred transitions, mirroring melody and not really trying too hard. Simple blues bars and phrasings… just trying to stay conscious, I’m sure. Classic Keith Richards.
Although Richards & Jagger share song-writing credits on most Rolling Stones' songs I get the feeling Keith is the actual genius. Hi solo work is just as brilliant. I would love to see a reaction to 'Eileen' and 'Wicked as it Seems".
If I remember correctly, the song was initially written by Keith as a country/bluegrass tune as in 'Country Honk' and Mick Taylor at one point just plugged his guitar in and hammered out the riff as we know it. Changed the whole sound of the song. The rest is history. Not sure who exactly is playing lead/rhythm on the record, though.
Anyone else agree that this song is one of the best recorded songs ever put to tape? The seperation between the instruments and the powerful organic sounding guitars bass and drums really make every note just so clear and crisp it sounds like you are standing right with them as they recorded this.

When creating art, here in the form of music, the artist has a mood, a sound, a feeling they want to get across and express to their audience. It’s crazy how quick Lex picks up on some of these songs. After the first lick she fell right into the groove and “got” the song. Not sure if it’s a credit to these artists song writing and being able to convey their art so well or Lex’s musical intelligence and awareness (it’s both) but I enjoy watching how quick she picks up on some of these songs with the insight of someone who’s listened to them thousands of times. It’s honestly impressive.
Honked tonk is like old times upright piano with girls that like to party… If you give these girls “Sweet Cherry Wine “ like Tommy James and the shondels
In the late sixties and early seventies i went to Honky Tonk's all the time. Had some really good times, but also had some pretty rough fights. All in all it was a good time of my life. They mostly played old sad country songs so people would buy more beer and cry into it. lol. Thanks for playing this as it's one of my favorites..
A honky tonk is usually a tawdry bar or dance hall, especially one that features country music or the loud unrestrained music that pours out of these bars. So a honky tonk woman is a cheap dance hall girl. 💃
You have barely scratched the surface! Sympathy For The Devil, Ruby Tuesday, Under My Thumb, Brown Sugar, Wild Horses, Miss You, I could go on and on! Keep going, you won't be disappointed!
Pretty sure that they are talking about the kind of women one would find in bars. Ready and willing. So he finds himself being picked up by women. He then realizes that those affairs don't help him forget his love, so he ends up with the Honky Tonk Blues. The great Charlie Watts on drums. R.I.P. Oh and there is a verse missing from this video. You may want to listen to another version if you want to hear the whole thing.
The song came about when Mick and Keith were on a remote ranch in the US.They sat outside talking about some of their life experiences. The song was more blues originally but was altered once they got to the recording studio.
Glad you’re enjoying the Stones. I’m happy with whatever you choose of theirs to listen to. I do love Waiting On a Friend and Little T&A. Loving your channel! ❤️🎶
Hi Brad & Lex! Watching you two react to the Stones is blowing my mind. My top 3 Stones songs...Can't you hear me knocking, Honky-tonk woman, Brown Sugar.
honky tonk is a country bar, sooo a honky tonk woman is a woman that goes to that bar a lot and they are lovin and leaving men and that gave him the blues
Oxford languages on the internet says: honky tonk - a cheap or disreputable bar, club, or dance hall, typically where country music is played. That's one way of looking at it. If you take that view, "Honky Tonk Women" just might give you the honky tonk blues./
This is one of my top 3 favorite Stones songs, and it's just a single that wasn't released on an album (although it was later added as a bonus on compilations). The other two in my top 3 are Sympathy for the Devil, and Start Me Up. The Stones have so many other bangers too though.
Have a look at the wikipedia entry about this song and you will see that it evolved over a period of months partially inspired by the Hank Williams song Honky tonk blues. Released in 1969 just after the death of Brian Jones and the free gig in Hyde Park. it was very popular UK number 1 5 weeks Billboard number 1 4weeks

1st album I bought for an Expensive price of $4.99 was Sticky Fingers. At age 14 in "71 I believe. A homerun with me & millions of others. At 65 still love them. Can't You Hear Me Knockin? All of them are great. Wild Horses, blusey & soulful.
This song is still played in all the Bikers bars. Much love to you and your families. Brandi Modrak 💕💕
WORLD'S GREATEST ROCK AND ROLL BAND....
I love how the Stones a lot of the time had dueling guitars
She blew my nose... I was an adult before I figured out that he didn't have a cold... rather it was snowing. 😉
The Stones from the late 60's to the mid 70's are definitely my favorite rock band ever.
One of my all time favorites..The ultimate country/southern rock song..
I've known the Rolling Stones since Grade 9 I'm 54 years old now and I appreciate them more now than I ever have
That cowbell though.
Glad you’re enjoying the Stones. I’m happy with whatever you choose of theirs to listen to. I do love Waiting On a Friend and Little T&A. Loving your channel! ❤️🎶
The heavy drums ARE great!!! Also the intro with the cowbell.
The Stones have so many other bangers too though.
songs dont get any grittier.....always loved the stones
She blew my nose,
And then she blew my mind!

The stones are real cool dudes.Enjoyed you two were great fun.
Stones never disappoint!!
Lex's got good taste.👍🏽
You 2 have barely scratched the surface, keep going!! ❤👍🏽
A honky-tonk is both a bar that provides country music for the entertainment of its patrons and the style of music played in such establishments.
on down the line is my favorite stones tune...and the whole some girls album
