Does this transmission share the same bolt pattern as a Muncie transmission? I'm wondering because I don't know what bellhousing I need to mate this transmission to a LS engine.

yes they use the muncie GM/Ford pattern. any 4 bolt bellhousing will work. they sell SFI ones or cast

Do these 101A's stay in gear when you lift? Also, are they the box that the mainshaft falls away from the cluster in top gear to save parasitic drag?

Yes they stay in gear when you lift. The cluster stays locked in with a handcuff on both this box and the g101
