I have had E36 since its inception and to think I gave up a M 5 for it. I have loved it since the first day I saw it. Passionate about it since I drove it till today. Have had five E36 still have two Coupes will drive them till I die. Thank you for sharing this great video and best wishes for many great E36 times ahead
Congrats on the build, I really enjoyed the vid - you basically have done my dream track day car - now i have something specific to aspire to. Well done mate!
Best thing I've seen on the internet today, just got into BMW's and this was such an eye opener for me, looking to rebuild a M54B25 to this spec but for road use, hope it turns out half as good.
Thank you so much for the amazing feedback!!! I wish you all the luck going forward. If you want to increase the displacement on the B25, you will need 328i conrods and crank. 330 crank will also work with the 328i conrods but the 325i conrods wont work with the 328 & 330 crank. The bump in torque is totally worth it! Just FYI Thanks for watching!
Did you figure out what was happening on the fast right turn? I haven’t watched the rest of your videos but I would assume it’s fuel starvation. A dual fuel pump setup fixes that problem. I love the car though, I just got my 328i running after almost a year and a lot of money to restore it but it’s well worth it
Thanks for watching!!! 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻 It was gearbox oil flying into the exhaust. Problem sorted. Funny enough I did install a dual fuel pump setup so all good there💪🏻
*I'm in the UK and just bought a nice genuine 318is saloon, which I believe was built in South Africa? I would love an s14/2.5 swap. Your car is a beauty!*
I'm a sucker for white wheels & E36s too. Paint scheme looks awesome, car sounds fantastic, but I'm very concerned about the fabricator that did the cage..... I see lots of little mistakes, like the attachment point to the front towers (it looked like the tube was attaching to the body w/out a reinforcement plate/hat). On top of that the main hoop should be a 20/40cm further back w/a proper cross bar and harness bar for the shoulder harnesses. Is like they avoided most of the FiA regulations for touring cars. Hopefully the main hoop attachments have reinforcement plates that extend to more than 2 planes.
Great observation, thank you. Yes, I can’t say I was super happy with the cage and will potentially be something I will redo in the near future. We have some cowboys here in SA. Any how, the cage does have base plates on the floor pan but there are many areas to improve. I have since found a new fabricator which seems a lot better. Having said that, your comments have prompted me to maybe spec my cages according to FIA standards going forward. Thanks for watching
Very nice build mate . Yep you can’t beat an e36 . Seems pointless making loads of suggestions as it seems that you know your stuff and already know most of the tricks and tweaks . Would recommend a stand alone dash , we used a stack dash and their really good value and In period too as a bonus. Ours came with a nice sensor loom and sensors for around £800 and well worth it to keep it in period and simplify wiring . Nice 4.1 diff and a cheap 6 speed from a diesel would just top it off if your on a tight budget . Try and keep all the original trim etc , here in the Uk standard trim etc is getting a bit thin on the ground and expensive. We have 3 e36 race cars and 4 e36 road cars , won’t be long before the shells start getting expensive too . Stupid things like door handles boot carpets etc etc are quite pricey. Like I say nice build 👍🇬🇧
Thanks for watching and thank you for the feedback. Yes, I was looking to keep the retro styling with the dash but it is becoming more of a pain than its worth at this stage.... I will check out the stack stuff, I had one in my race polo, very cool. I have a 3.64 diff but its too short for the long tracks so need another with an LS. Anyhow, thank you for the support!
Thanks for the feedback. M53B30 crank M54B25 84.5mm Piston modified to work. Compression = 11.9:1 264 Cams, DIY ported Head 255HP, 322NM on the wheels Fuel is AVGAS
Thanks for watching Here I do the setup for the first race. ua-cam.com/video/iQL6WaTwtbM/v-deo.htmlsi=SeH1Rgh-YVTWSDwu But it’s simple: 1 to 2mm out on the front 1 to 2mm in on the back. Enjoy
So what ended up being the problem with the bottom end? Did they have to line bore the crank journals? Seems a bit strange if that was the same crank going back in?
Thanks for watching. The issue was the block distorted over its length when we sleeved it. So it needed a line bore in the end. The crank is a 3.0 crank from an M54 B30 motor. So even with the stock 2.8 crank, we would have had the same issue because of the steel sleeves. The block was sleeved because of excessive wear on the Allu seal coating which allowed me to go for pistons 0.5mm oversize aswell.
hi jac nice car.. you should come and race in Indonesia.. there is many class in races bmw like etcc 2000 and etcc 3000 amazing... 6 series a year.. thanks
That sounds great, I would love to come & race in Indonesia with you all. Hopefully one day the channel gets big enough and we can make this happen. Thank you for your support!
@@ssbb_builds2090You make great videos! Don’t leave any topic untouched. By far the most helpful of any other YT series I’ve watched. Also agree about GoPro attached to roll cage in middle may be more favorable
How did you manage to go that much lower ride height than standard and not use bump steer corection and roll centre, mine was rubbing constantly even though it was stiffest it can go on v2 coilover ?
@@ssbb_builds2090 Thank you!! Really liked the way you broke it all down. I plan to do a full track car as well. Would you recommend getting a clean E36 328 vs an M3 with higher mileage for this goal?
Full throttle doesn't really mean a lot when you're changing gears 2000rpm early. I can go full throttle in my car at 5000rpm and it would behave too. But I appreciate the build and it does look very very nice. A carbon intake from an M3 or itbs would be epic. Best thing to do is enjoy it.
Your car was 286 HP at 7k rmp to 1995, to 1998 it grew to 321 HP at 7,400 rmp. If you are only getting 200HP after all the work you did, there is something wrong. Also, once you got it back from the head being reworked (did the same place correct its own mistake free of charge? or did you take it somewhere else and pay again?) why would you take it to the DINO testing without first checking for shimmering metal flakes again? you just assumed they did it right the second time around? thank you.
2 door e36 variants were only available in the M3 here in South Africa. Those are really expensive at the moment. This package was available and made sense from a price point of view. Thanks for watching

Awesome, thank you for watching!
A guy in Cape Town built the shifter for me. Very happy with it.
Could you send me his contact please . I’m in Cape Town as well

Great race car 👏. Pleas tell me what is the engine spec? It,s 3,0 stroker? Crank it's m54b30 but what is bore and what pistons did you use?
Thanks for the feedback.
M53B30 crank
M54B25 84.5mm Piston modified to work.
Compression = 11.9:1
264 Cams, DIY ported Head
255HP, 322NM on the wheels
Fuel is AVGAS
@@ssbb_builds2090 Hmmm, m54b25 pistons are lower than b30 pistons so this setup with b30 crank and 135mm rods don't give you 11,9 :1 compresion
HI good job ,how many hp have the engine? what is the model of the camshfts? MANY THANKS
Check this video:
ua-cam.com/video/iQL6WaTwtbM/v-deo.html
But when I worked it out it was something like 250HP on the wheels at the coast.

Where is the rust? Are there still a lot of rust free examples available?
No rust on this car, it has lived inland it’s whole life, we don’t have rust here thankfully 🙌🏻

3.64 LS diff from an E39.
Refurbished and purty

1 to 2mm out on the front
1 to 2mm in on the back.
Enjoy

What kind of repair work did kwt do to fix the issue?
They line bored the main bearings in the block. They were out ever so slight because of the sleeving process.
Thanks for watching 🙌🏻
keep up the great work, i run a 328i race car too :D

Aubrey from AKC Technologies.
Did you struggle to get parts for the car?
Yes I did, pistons & rings were the biggest challenge. I also brought a lot of stuff in from the US.
weight after gutting? (still drivable)
Car is amazing, very drivable.
