If you can hinge and squat with your body weight then there is no reason why you can't do a resistance band deadlift. If coached right this is a great rehab exercise to build confidence and strength in the body's ability to do this exercise again pain-free.
The resistance band deadlift also helps groove safe movement and mechanical patterns during this exercise that you can apply to the actual barbell version.
