What do you think of Tiger Tek?
@@_oly_241 havent checked out any knives from them (yet) but maybe we can change that in the future!
I seen these in stock 2 days ago. was going to get one when I got paid today they are out of stock.
@@tenza7545 just checked looks like blade ops still has the tanto and dagger blade styles available
@@Rollshambo ya I really wanted a drop point but ordered the tanto. “Dagger” blades are illegal to carry in my state.
Was so great to hear and see this. Thanks for video 📹 👍
This one had me pumped, seeing quality and reliable action from an otf at this price range is rare, thanks for watching Marcos!
Very cool! Thanks for shining a light on this one 👊
So what a great find thanks for sharing
I love it when I stumble my way into a great knife, so far very impressed!
Just ordered this yesterday as my first otf just to have one and didn’t wanna spend a lot so this was the perfect choice
Currently looking for a good quality OTF that’s not gonna make me take out a loan…. Gotta say this vid seems like providence!
Also your intro music goes hard! Lol love it.
I was pumped about the knife had to pick some tunes that matched the vibe
I just got a Hogue HK Hadron for $215. The Kershaw Livewire looks great, but I do not have one yet.
I really like your back round the shoji screen looks good
You had me at "no glass breaker" 😂 I just don't understand the logic for most OTFs. Hope you get to add that to your collection.
😂 yeah glassbreakers...not a huge fan of them on my otfs...We will see I definitely want to keep this one 🤙
Most first responders carry otf knifes. For easy deployment and retracting to keep one hand free. The glass breaker just is another tool for us to use when the situation calls. In everyday edc use most people will never use it. But that’s why a lot of them have a glass breaker.
Practically speaking you're more likely to use it as an impact self defense tool than breaking glass. Neither may be something you ever need but people seem to think only about breaking glass when there are other uses.
@@EvilSSP I'm using the sharp end, if I'm using it for self-defense. Cheers 👍😁👍
I just ordered this can't wait for it to get here.
I have daily carried the tanto version for 11 months and its still working great.
So glad you covered this one. Don't have any OTFs but would get one if they weren't so pricey. I look at these as more of a novelty knife, so good for packages but not a working knife to handle anything you need to cut. So I'm opposed to spending $300 for one.
it's always seemed like you have to pay the "otf tax" to get a good one, or your stuck with something with sloppy action that will fail after so many deployments, so far no failures, I'm excited this exists😂
Well if this one is a little bit too pricey you should definitely check out the lightning OTF usually available from blade ops or GrindWorx under $50 I have one that I've had for 10 years it's never misfired once The blade is beat to hell I've used it daily but under 50 bucks I could never have asked for more
Lighting has been my favorite for budget. The old ones were bulletproof but they kind of suck now. I'm going to buy one of these.
Right on!!
Hello. I like the looks of the BOKER PLUS BLUE KWAIKEN OTF AUTO KNIFE, SATIN D2 BLADE better. It's $119. Do you think it is as good as the SOS OTF?
Do they offer replacement parts like springs?
I trust your advice Rollshambo . Thanks for keeping it real and protecting our dollars . Lots of overpriced knives out there and a lot of deals too .
Outstanding it proves that an otf doesn't have to cost a fortune. I don't own one because I always thought they were overpriced. Good video, brother 👍
The OTF tax is real, but...companies are starting to get the point that the people want quality options at lower prices, this one could be big for moving the needle there
Very nice knife and like you said, the sucker works and is well made. About the glass breaker, I was the only one that had one going to the scene of an accident that allowed people to get into the car to help the ones inside. Still, I don't want one on my knife, either.
EDC knife in your pocket always . Car accident. Yep in your pocket. Is it probably never going to be used? Are you going to be pissed when you need it but don't have it?
This one’s good!! Just got the tanto version. Seriously at least 3 times better than my lightning. Very solid. Feels like good quality. Switch is surprisingly smooth. Very little play. Zero failure so far. I’m impressed!
The build quality feels premium..if you shake it you don't hear rattles...I shake my microtech and the hogue counterstrike and I hear light rattles..it's small things like this that make a lower priced otf feel quality..if they come out with one in even a slightly better blade steel it's over😂
@@Rollshambo agree on all points
Where can I buy one??? I've checked your link to bladeops, but there always sold out.... 😭
What up Bro ? As a guy that has many OTFs I do think we are discovering how grossly we have been paying for an OTF. I do believe that Kershaw really shoock things up with the Livewire because at half the money of American made counterparts they took a decent bite out of this niche market . Have a Great Day Friends 👊🏼🙏🏻 . The reason these are plentiful here is it is much easier to ship the parts here then assembled as far as customs go ? I think I could be wrong I often am 😁
I think your assessment is spot on, I'm not opposed to parts made overseas as long as everything works well and the price is fair, so far so good!
Give me the Kershaw Livewire over Microtech any day!
I'm all about an affordable otf with great action.I can tell you put your thumb to work 😂.
The common theme with lower priced OTFs is that they fail regularly on deployment, I couldn't get this one to fail, the thumb took one for the team😂
Awesome Otf Knife How is Made
This is tempting
Yeah I'm gonna buy this one off blade ops, it hits the spot for me🙌
Why the ravencrest? Steel ?
No mention of the Kershaw live wire?
Livewire is 240$..it's really good for what it is but I wouldn't consider that budget personally - also mentioned the livewire @5:41
Takcom bulldog is the otf knife that i really want bad
I wish I could find more information about this company. I can’t even find a website.
Based on my conversation with blade ops this is a newer company overseas and this knife was launched with blade ops as a beta, the launch has gone well(they are running out of stock quickly) but they have plans for more variants of this model for the near future, different specs different blade steels..30 day warranty through blade ops, looking good so far
Try Cobra tech light very good strong spring D2 no blade wobble
I think SOS is a new company I seen a few knives on kickstarter though I'm not sure if it is the same ones that make this knife but they had the same morse code logo so.......
Would you say it’s better then the boker kaizen otf?
That's a great question, in all honesty I haven't tried the boker kaizen..but now I want to so I can see how they compare! Thanks for the inspiration
I’d be VERY interested to see how this compares to the Maxace Neptune ($108) if Maxace could ever get any more available!!!! Haven’t been able to find any for sale in forever!!! Damn reviews on stuff you can’t find!! 😡🤬
I’ve bought probably 7 for under a hundred and there great new but just don’t stand the test of time
Interesting... I've never heard of SOS, but I do like OTFs. I've owned everything from Microtech HALOs and Ultratecs to $30 Lightnings. It's certainly true that anything under $200 tends to have cheap steel, shoddy QC/loose tolerances (blade play!!!) -- and then there's this massive jump in quality to the high end stuff. Nothing in between. Don't get me wrong, I think Lightnings are an _awesome_ deal for $30, but the blade play irritates me even more than the 440C steel. I'll give this SOS a shot!
Interested me brother 🤘💜
The vid is a Lil bit dark mite up your iso/contrast/filming lights great other wise!!! 💯
Yeah I've improved the lighting in my vids since then, hopefully a non issue moving forward🤙
How’s the lockup?
Lockup is decent (for an otf) I'd say marginally not as good as an ultratech but much better than the benchmade shootout😂 both of which are 3x the price so at 99$ its actually much better than I expected
Cobratec knives seems to have good otfs
As someone who is still recovering from a Dirac Delta purchase, this looks quite promising!
I fired this one a out 100 times in 10 minutes and it didn't not fail once, I've had more expensive otfs feel cheaper and perform worst, I'm pretty impressed tbh
Why does this remind me of a slightly better Lighting. They look so similar. Except the steel is D2 and the handle doesn’t have the leather textured aluminum. Overall better looking fit and finish. But for $100 I think there are much better folders to chose from. If it’s the novelty of an oft buy a lightning. Or save and buy the new Kershaw or save more for a Benchmade or Microtech. This may be a nice knife, it just to me doesn’t look like it would last.
Some people won't ever save up to buy something nicer and if/when they do they don't carry it...the lightning otf is the original otf budget buy but the body is made out of pot metal not really aluminum..I've deployed this one about 1k times(not an exaggeration and it hasn't failed once) otf's can be useful tools just depends..the reason I'm excited is because for the longest time the vast majority of cheap otfs haven't had good action good design or reliable deployment..so this is good for those who are interested in an otf but don't want to pay 200+$.. just my thoughts, thanks for watching!
8:07 I’m not gonna even say the name! (Says the name)
SOS = save our souls
5years.
How do you only have 3k subs???
I’m guessing he will hit 5K by the 1 year mark!
I have a microtech UTX-85 and I don’t love it
Really? You've never heard of the lightning OTF? Under 50 bucks in most cases they're tolerances are way over and above the cost of the knife I've owned one for over 10 years it has never misfired The steel isn't the best but it came sharp as hell it fires stronger than some MicroTech knives that I owned but literally under 50 bucks I'm not saying this knife isn't great but if you want to quality OTF under 50 bucks lightning is the brand to check out
I've tried a lightning otf, personally like this one more but opinions are opinions🤷
blade to handle ratio not good ,,,also blade looks thin ,,,sounds nice though.
Blade to handle scale ratio is actually decent for an otf(because of the mechanisms OTFs generally don't have the best track record here...also blade stock is about as thick as an ultratech for reference..thanks for watching🍻
Out of stock, 6 years ?…
Not sure what you mean, they've been restocking these pretty frequently🤷♂️
China take my money!
If the OTF you don't like is actually bad quality then you should give us the brand. Otherwise, folks will keep falling for it. I have been looking high and low for another OTF in the 100 to 150 range and I may end up buying it now.
I don't want to give any press to them but buy anything except that one..it's a Ravencrest otf and it's hot garbage, fails frequently, bad heat treat and it's just not great
Hmmm the 1st reviews of the SOS knives that I can find are both sponsored by Blade Ops... Do you like it because they incentivized it...? Then you won't say name/brand of the disliked one to prevent people from wasting their money? 🤔
Sponsored? The knife was not given to me, the knives blade ops sent were loaned(as in I dont get to keep them)..I chose to buy this one because I like it, which is kinda like the opposite of being sponsored since I paid them..as for not saying the name of the other otf, it's a Ravencrest otf and it's hot garbage but feel free to buy one and find out for yourself
@@Rollshambo sorry it just seemed a little sus. Too many shills out there that get stuff or money for positive reviews regardless of the quality. Thanks for the response and clarification, I will now subscribe and look forward to seeing more reviews.
@Shane Hammond I get it, it's hard to trust a review where the person doing the review didn't buy it, one of the reasons I like blade ops is because they appreciate honest opinions on their inventory- and welcome in! More reviews are on the way🤙
@@Rollshamboravencrest sounds like the name of a mystery game for PC. I had googled for 5 or 10 minutes looking for this mystery knife and eventually ran across this brand and wondered if it might be it. Thank you for being forthcoming. I recently picked up a boker OTF for a little over a hundred and it is a bit stiff, but otherwise I'm pleased with it. I became aware of this after that purchase so I'm thinking about picking up one of these.
@jayr526 I reviewed the sos otf 7 months ago(wow time flies) it's been nothing but reliable since then, planning an update video soon🙌
so how do you make a judgment after 20 minutes🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Feel free to check out my most recent video on this knife which occurred after 7 months of owning it..my opinion didn't change but this is what is referred to as a first impression
So you were sent the knife, opened it 20 minutes before the video, and then say that it’s great… OTFs more than any other knife need to be used and deployed longer than 20 minutes before saying they are good.
Check my most recent video on this OTF(after having the knife for 7 months) when you know you know😉
Yeah I know right? Totally not a paid shill 😂
@MM-op6ti I bought this knife it wasnt given to me..so no..not a paid shill but I suppose it's easy to assume when you don't know any better🫡
@@Rollshambo oh so you’re just full of shit for free, that’s pathetic
@@Rollshambo ass
$99 still pricy.
Not for a quality knife in todays market.
