My first knive was a Victorinox pocket knife. And that’s almost 60 years ago. Unfortunately I lost it over the time but not my trust in that brand. Today I own a bunch of of them. But quite frankly, one would be enough😉! I love them!
I’d have try try it. My visual impressions are too boxy, and that blade wiggle would have made me return it immediately. I don’t think people should be so focused on one handed tool deployment that they’ll accept lesser quality for an innovative feature. That just me though.
I'll take this over Vic fieldmaster even if Roxon had a 3cr13 blade, just for the two liner lock, (it had 5cr15?, that's bargain). because one day, sooner or later, a slip joint will accidentally close up on to your knuckle, I said that sincerely, because less than 12 hours ago my Vic sportsman just did exactly that.
I love my Roxon KS2. I love the form factor and the quality of the tools. It's THE BEST multitool at its price point. By the way, the tweezers are hidden in the handle of the scissors.
I just bought this thing to have something with good scissors that's smaller than the phantom, and after receiving it today, the pics, and videos don't do it justice. This thing is beautifully designed, and mine was tight as a button. My 4mm bit kit from the phantom works perfectly on top the phillips head tool, and I've customized it for my needs. Top notch. I've owned lots of tiny EDCs as well as various victoriknox, leatherman, gerber, tools for backup at work. This is now the backup. Great job roxon.
Victorinox is still the #1 pocket knife brand in my opinion. But I am also emotionally invested. My dad gave me my first SAK when I was in my early teens. This was 30 years ago. I still have that knife. Still, it’s good that other companies come up with new ideas. Even if you are Victorinox, and have 150+ years of experience and expertise and a eich history: That’s no reason to rest on your laurels, no matter how well deserved they were.
Got mine today, wanted something with a pocket clip, some good tools and amazing scissors for the summer. Love the g10 scales and overall the easy of use. Definitely gotta keep an eye on roxon for the future
I've been debating about getting this but I'm not sure. I've been carrying the Leatherman Curl and Bond. I love them both the slip joints are very sturdy. HUGE Leatherman fan but I like the look of the Roxon KS2 for a plier less tool. Rectangular and boxy. Bigger isn't always better. I find the Wave/ Curl style scissors very handy. I think something in that size would be much more suitable for the Roxon KS2. The G10 scales are nice. I like Victorinox but I'm a huge plier fan. Never owned a Victorinox Swisstool but really find the pliers, the best feature of my Leatherman Tools. The T4 is good but not for $70. My Bond is much more appealing in the $60 price range, for the money.
While I own and really like Leatherman tools that I purchased when I was single… now being a single income family man, future purchases will more than likely be Roxon.
Very interesting offering from Roxon! I would really love to see these types of tools offered with non-blade options as well, or the ability to replace the blade with something else (easily). I always feel like the blades on these tools are just barely "good enough" and I will typically just go to my pocket knife. It would just be great to have another tool instead of another knife at times, especially when trying to keep my pockets light.
So true you know if Gerber made an Armbar drive with locking driver and no blade I'd buy it in an instant as there are very very few affordable bit drivers out there. Carried with a Spyderco (in my case the Urban as my country doesn't allow me to EDC a locking blade) and Knipex Cobra XS that would be a great little toolset.

Intressting, have to try them for a longer time. I use my victorinox in second generation, so my victorinox works every day since 1951. Hard challenge for roxon.
I have a different Roxon with just the scissors and a blade. The scissors are great to start out, but get messed up fairly quickly. I've had mine for about a year and have only used it to cut cord and occasionally prune tomatoes. Nothing that should be nicking the scissors, but they are are starting to not cut well due to all the nicks. The blade doesn't hold an edge very long either. So both are probably made of fairly soft material. Better to pay a little more and get something that will hold an edge. The blade on mine also has that play you showed. I've tightened everything up and still it wobbles. Yes it's cheaper in most cases, and the scissors are nice for a while, but I'm looking for something better...
Interesting but my mind keeps going back to the fact I have had my Victorinox knife for nearly 40 years including almost all of my time in the army . Pro tip for longevity get your name engraved boldly on the scales and folks will return it when it gets dropped. :)
Women will LOVE this if ROXON make them colorful fun/cute as they love scissors but they need to make it curvaceous just make sure to keep the scissors, nail file and a package opener. The only gripe I have against my swiss army knife is that the blade doesn't lock. If it did, it would be the perfect knife. I've had the blade close on my before (granted, I wasn't really using it properly), and got cut pretty bad. That's the main advantage I can see with the Roxon. But my vote still goes with Swiss Army.
Love your videos. I just picked up a leatherman free P2 and have really been enjoying it. It’s my first plier-based multitool. My main edc is still my super tinker though. Can’t beat that thing
Roxon has improved quite a bit with its innovation, just need a little bit more on quality control for it to compete with the big boys. Nevertheless it is affordable & functional on a budget. Cheers mate.
My first impression was how it looked similar to the Lockdown series from Gerber. The Lockdown Driver and Lockdown Pry both have similar shapes and tools to this Roxon. Personally I very much enjoy my Lockdown, especially out in the field or in the shoot house. So this Roxon is definitely worth a look.
Victorinox has been around and perfected their tools for over 150 years. I've been using their pocket knives since 1960. They are the "Rolex" of pocket knives and you can't go wrong with them for quality and price. I've tried others and NOTHING matches the quality of a Swiss Army knife. They also last forever if treated with care. I still use one of my older models which is 40 years old. It's still like new and I take it with me everywhere.
I’ve got such an affection for Swiss Army knives despite owning some beautiful premium steel folders. If I had to only pick one single edc for the rest of my days the choice would be as easy as pie at least for me. And it will always be Swiss Army ❤
@@maxlvledc I watched the entire video. When you had to tighten the blade on that Roxon, I almost stopped the video. You proved to me by the end of the video that the Swiss Army knife is the way to go. Especially since Victorinox offers dozens of different models depending on your needs.
*In 2014 at Menard's, I bought a Leatherman Wingman for $9. Menard's stopped carrying Leatherman brand and had a deep closeout. I went back the next day and bought the last one. I love that it isn't too big, it's ergonomic and has a pocket clip. I prefer that over a belt holster. I think I got the deal of the century.
it'd be cool if pocket multi tools did the up or down or left or right pocket clip thing too... and proper thumb stud/flipper tab/spydie hole opening with ball bearings... also what would be cool would be a normal pocket knife looking multi tool.... eg a Spyderco PM2 that looks like a PM2 but also has hidden multi tools within it...
I boght my viktorinox knive wenn I was twenty years old, today I'm almost fifty....those thirty years it was my faithful companion and still looks like new and everything works!
They have just made a better version of this, Roxon KS2E Elite Version: D2 steel blade for the knife; 5Cr15 Mov Stainless steel for Phillips screwdriver; DIN 1.4116 for rest tool. Much better steel. also comes with an adaptable attachment for additional screwdriver bits... looks great!
I saw these I didn't really think twice about it I know this video is older but thanks for the info... I'm still trying to catch up with all your videos😂
Received mine in the March sale and thankfully didn’t have any such play or looseness in the blade (or anywhere else). A really solid little item. The tweezers are located inside the scissor handle that you open up. Nice little effective use of storage. Been carrying and using it quite a bit recently and the steel is holding up rather well. Definitely a step up in these Chinese multitool materials - the polishing and general wear is much improved from the previous bead-blasted Roxon tool steel.
LoL, victorinox killer? Or how I learned to love clickbaiting. I am no fanboy of victorinox, but can recognize quality when i see it. Even just comparing the shittiest victorinox swiss knife to the best of the best from roxon is no competition at all.
Pocket clips on the same side as the blade can help with reducing/eliminating hot spots. My real concern with the pocket clip placement is that the blade isn't resting against the rest edge of the pocket, so it could theoretically open in pocket if the retention isn't good enough
I like some of the innovations I'm seeing from Roxon, but they really need to work on ergonomics. So many of their tools feel like they were designed in Minecraft or from a Lego kit.
Roxon now makes an elite version of this tool with D2 steel on the blade for $38.00 and it also includes the bit set. I just received it, and it looks like a winner!
Nice! I am not in love with the rectangle shape, but this is good. Big fan of the deploying nub. Those scissors are sweet, I like the tool set, good catch with the pocket clip too. And the price is right. I think I'll get this one. Is that a MagConnect on that SAK? I just got two this morning! :D
Interesting little multi tool. I don't know if it's a Victorinox killer, especially considering that quality issue at the start. But I'm feeling it might be a T4 killer. At least at that price and taking into account how similar the forms are. I got a Super Tinker a couple of weeks ago and can't recommend it enough.
honestly, for me victorinox is a little bit overglorified. I mean, yeah, they are great, they can withstand a lot compared to other multitools, but if you are starting to abuse them then they die just as easily, so i would prefer something cheaper but somewhat close by quality and repairability. Not to mention Roxon probably the only one in the industry who makes such large scissors! And for me they are much more usefull in large size than smaller ones. And althow i havent tried their KS2, im currently using their phantom s802, wich is also comes with their scissors and same blade, both of which are feeling great! (I dont use them to scrape of wood or something like that, but cutting rubber, insolation, food, cardboard and plastic and the blade is fine! )
I’ve got to be honest, I really have no idea what Leatherman has been thinking with their latest offerings. They need to redesign their scissors from the ground up and figure out how to make compact tools that are just as sturdy and useful as their bulkier items. There is no reason they couldn’t create a double sided pocket knife that’s as slim as the victorinox compact but with more tools.
Thank you for this thorough review. Two things that bothered me about the featured tool were that the pocket clip seems a little too small and all those screws. I just imagine that at least once a month I’d have to tighten all the screws up.
My dad had his Victorinox knife for over 40 years and since his passing I've been using it for a further 4 years... it's still pristine and the only part of it that's visibly used is the blade as it's been sharpened so many times that the blade is probably 3mm narrower than it originally was. Can you honestly see these new knives lasting for 40-50+ years?
I got an older roxxon before people started reviewing them, I carry the mini knipex pliers and a knife so I wanted something primarily with scissors and roxxon delivered. The knife on the multitool I got sucks to use, but it has similar scissors and they are amazing. I was using them mostly to cut electrical tape (because tearing it off can be difficult/dangerous in some scenarios) and have since switched to carrying klein sheers, but if I had a use for the other tools and I just wanted to carry one thing - roxxon is very compelling.
If Victorinox would swap out the serrated combo blade for a standard plain edge blade, the one handed Trekker would be perfect - well almost, it still needs a flip out Phillips rather than the mid back version and the magnifying glass...oh wait that's the Explorer which would be perfect with the plain edge one handed blade😮! It's really tough to beat Victorinox under $100. Too bad they don't have a custom build your own program. But those Roxon scissors that flip out are probably worth putting up with the lesser quality tools! I wish Leatherman would do something similar in the Free series!
I'm not too familiar with Roxon, but agree. If they, or Victorinox, made a knifeless tool that was centered around their kick-@$$ scissors, I think they'd be a super popular item.
Respectfully disagree about the clip. It depends on whether you are clipping the tool on the *inside* of a pocket, or on the outside of a pocket, belt, etc. The presumption is that the user is right-handed, as most will be. If you have this installed on the outside (such as on a belt), the placement of the clip makes sense. With it installed externally, the user will reach "down and over the tool", and the clip will be opposite the palm side, while the knife will be by the thumb for one-handed opening. I'm 100% sure their engineers considered this and decided to offer a tool that would be readily grabbed from the outside of wherever it is hanging. And there is no hard and fast rule about "where the pocket clip always goes" -- it is a matter of design and decision. A better solution in gerneral is to have a clip that can be installed on either side. And the best solution of all is to have a clip that can be installed on either side at either end.
I've had the Roxon Phantasy for.. Oh it must be 8 years now. It's incredible. I use the utility knife/box cutter the most for work, but switch out to the clip point blade for day to day use. Only 2 issues, one of which is a good thing, and the other I have fixed. That being the lock on the liner lock where it touches the swappable blades easily grinds away from the friction of opening and closing the knife repeatedly. I can now hold it by the blade while its closed and flick it open, but it still stays closed and I dont worry of it opening by mistake. The other is that the 2 nubs for the locks to take the handle apart stick out juuust a bit from the handle, so they catch on stuff and I have often had one end unlock and mess up the opening action. I used to clip it to my belt loop so it was exposed, and catching on stuff. Now I've made a leather sheath for it, so only the bottom lock is exposed but is now no longer touching anything because of positioning. Highly recommend, if they still sell it.
In Europe, knives that open with one hand (in this case with the thumb on the blade button) are prohibited from carrying on the street, for that same reason, it is no longer compatible in the European market....
When buying a new knife the last thing I would not want to do is start by tightening up faster on the knife . That wobble on the blade, you pointed out about washer placement. Curious why they're own qualified inspection team would miss that. But interesting knife I must say.
Please also add metric measurement for those live outside imperial measurement country to easily imagine the length of the tools. Great content as always.
I have the Roxon S501 (Knife and Scissors) and am pleased with it. I also have a Victorinox Super Tinker. I put the Roxon KS2 in my wishlist alongside the Leatherman Free T4
I have carried a SUper Tinker for decades, and the steel these blades are made from is forever. They never get any rust growing on them. It also fits the pocket real well, and the scissors are excellent. I trim my fingernails quite well with them, punch air holes in the bottom of my dogs food cans with the phillips, shave with the big blade and cut everything else with the small blade. The Super Tinker has been made and sold for many decades and the steel is, as I said, outstanding.
My favorite edc ever, is my 111mm victorinox forester, i got over 20 other multitools and knives and some other victorinox, but the one that goes to my pocket is my 111mm victorinox, just perfect
I love the tool selection. I often find with victorinox is the combination of tools that I actually want is never in one unit, it's always like 3 tools I'd never use and one or two that I love. I'd love company to offer a choose your combo.
I love these knives And the multi tool this company puts out. I love how the blades can interchange and if you break a blade. You can always just carry extras to either replace a broken or Double blade. Also the designer of the block song must be left handed because I always have to move the pocket clips to the other side
If you think about the system they use to deploy the tools, and not only on the blade, it will make sense why the pocket clip is where it is. The pocket clip would render impossible, or way difficult to use the push/pull for deploying or unlocking the tools.
I have two Roxons. One has just a blade and that excellent pair of scissors. Also one that has interchangeable blades. Quite impressed. I'll look for this one. I do already have a collection of SAKs and LMs, but I think the new Free stuff is an expensive joke. I like the Juice series.
Nice reviews I don't think the quality is comparable at all. I'm not sure what he's talking about with the pocket clip what he said makes no sense to me 😂 i would say the problem is the opposite way around. The roxon makes it easier.
I carry one everyday. It’s lacking in build quality. It’s such a travesty, because the design is literally my PERFECT EDC. Very upset that the detent isn’t strong, the blade wiggles, and don’t EVER disassemble this tool 😂 it will never be the same again. PLEASE, SOMEONE MAKE A HIGHER QUALITY VERSION OF THIS EXACTLY DESIGN. I WILL SPEND $100 FOR IT.
"DEPLOY" a blade? I've carried a folding knife (slipjoint) since age 4. I've OPENED a blade Zeus and his brother Hades might know how many times. I have never "deployed" a blade. TROOPS are "Depolyed". You can also "deploy" a naval force. A folding knife blade is OPENED. "Deploy"/"Deployed" and "open" are NOT the same thing. "Deploy" is "SEND"; NOT "OPEN". The scissors on the KS2 are larger than the SAK and most Leatherman ... at least the full size Leathermans. How do the 92mm and up SAK scissors compare in cutting the cord? Have you copared the performance of the KS2 scissors to the 89mm SAK Evo Grip/Wenger scissors? I find the Evo Grip/Wenger scissors btter than the 92mm and up SAK scissors, which are the same size. I also prefer the Wenger design that uses a backspring over the prone to break (but easy to replace - if you have one handy) V - leafspring Vic uses on their spring loaded scissors. There are times the spring loaded VIc/Wenger scissors come in handy. For the tool set, I think I will pass on the KS2. I need pliers a lot more than scissors. My current daily multi-tool carry is a Victorinox SAK Hercules and a Leatherman Charge+ TTi. Both have pliers that actually work, and springloaded scissors when needed.
the blade movement is immediate a deal braker...... that is just inexcusable...

Have you seen the Ruike multi-tool? It has very similar if not same tool options as victorinox. Definitely worth a look!
Yep, reviewed them in fact..much much heavier
honestly, for me victorinox is a little bit overglorified. (I dont use them to scrape of wood or something like that, but cutting rubber, insolation, food, cardboard and plastic and the blade is fine! )
Personally, I bought the roxon phantom
I’ve got to be honest, I really have no idea what Leatherman has been thinking with their latest offerings. They need to redesign their scissors from the ground up and figure out how to make compact tools that are just as sturdy and useful as their bulkier items. There is no reason they couldn’t create a double sided pocket knife that’s as slim as the victorinox compact but with more tools.
Your 10000% correct..and I have no idea what they are doing.
My first i got from my grandfather and i have the one of my father as well now. Both work as on day one.
Knipex is always good to have at hand and they can be so compact.
Id love if Roxon made a scissor only model in as small a formfactor as they could without sacrificing cutting power
I'm not too familiar with Roxon, but agree. If they, or Victorinox, made a knifeless tool that was centered around their kick-@$$ scissors, I think they'd be a super popular item.
The S501 is a knife/Scissor tool - I am pleased with it. no other tools besides the 2.
This might make the knife a bit too long, but I'd love to see they put their exchangeable blade in this tool.
Victorinox are those tiny little things from Switzerland,.Just another crappie knives. Don't buy that if you need a good knife.😂
you bad boy! ;)
Unacceptable. Poor quality. Don't waste your time.
Just buy a wave plus leatherman. Instead of this junk
If I were to add one thing to a multi tool that I believe everyone needs, it would be nail trimmers
👍I'll stick with my Huntsman😊
Oh, seems nice!
1:13 .. okay its absolute CRAP
Just what the market needs is more Gas station or fleamarket junk...
Victorinox all the way, I pocket one for the last 20 years, they are great edc knifes.
The Bundeswehr even issues it.
Victorinox has its own class.
That roxon is so cool! Never seen a multi tool with that type of design and I love it!! Great review!
When buying a new knife the last thing I would not want to do is start by tightening up faster on the knife . That wobble on the blade, you pointed out about washer placement. Curious why they're own qualified inspection team would miss that. But interesting knife I must say.
That's bullshit. The Roxon is nowhere close to Victorinox
Please also add metric measurement for those live outside imperial measurement country to easily imagine the length of the tools.
Great content as always.
I get it..but the conversion can literally be done in 5 seconds from Google. If I remember I will.
I have the Roxon S501 (Knife and Scissors) and am pleased with it. I also have a Victorinox Super Tinker. I put the Roxon KS2 in my wishlist alongside the Leatherman Free T4
I wish I could get the Roxon..............its out of stock
this tool is totally scrap, thanks for video. It is really better to stay with Leatherman and Victorinox. You will never be disappointed
Sadly out of stock, so is the phantasy and the utility blade.
Hope they get them in stock soonA
In the UK, the Victorinox wins hands down as the folding *non locking* blade is legal for daily carry
Amazing $20.00 knifes all day long that's a great find. GOD-BLESS.
I'v EDCed my Swiss Champ since 1985. It has saved my bacon many times !
The scissors sold me! I putter in my garden a lot. These seem a perfect pocket tool for me for dead-heading and sniping; any simple cuttings, etc.
My favorite edc ever, is my 111mm victorinox forester, i got over 20 other multitools and knives and some other victorinox, but the one that goes to my pocket is my 111mm victorinox, just perfect
From a few videos I've seen, Roxon looks like the Sofirn of multitools. I ordered a different one (M3?), but I might get this one too.
why buy "Made in China" when there are other better or equivalent good knives?
China makes some of the worlds finest knives, especially for the money. Give credit where it is due. What are you reading and writing this on? ;)
Looks great but no roxon KS2 shows up on Amazon! How do I get it?
I love the tool selection. I often find with victorinox is the combination of tools that I actually want is never in one unit, it's always like 3 tools I'd never use and one or two that I love.
I'd love company to offer a choose your combo.
Nice review. I like the way the features / components were compared then the way the tools were arranged by cost.
I love these knives And the multi tool this company puts out. I love how the blades can interchange and if you break a blade. You can always just carry extras to either replace a broken or Double blade. Also the designer of the block song must be left handed because I always have to move the pocket clips to the other side
Us left handers deserve our own tools!
If you think about the system they use to deploy the tools, and not only on the blade, it will make sense why the pocket clip is where it is. The pocket clip would render impossible, or way difficult to use the push/pull for deploying or unlocking the tools.
I will just stick to the SOG powerpint
Just got my KS2. The tweezers are hidden in the scissors.
I knew I missed it!
It looks OK, but nothing will replace my Victorinox Alox Farmer X.
Looks like it would be easy to make some homemade scales for this
I have two Roxons.
We have great Swiss and American multifunctional pocket knives. Chinese produced ones shouldn’t be promoted.
