I really respect that you were honest. You're parents should be proud of that! If I could see you struggling with the "hard" oil pastels everyone else was too. I can't color/use with pastel sticks but I do use pastel pencils for details in my watercolor art. I have a few Panpastel and they have better control than the sticks and NOT as chalk blowing in the air and all over the place.
These turned out so good!! It was so fun and interesting to watch✨ The blue and purple portrait is definitely my fave, love love love the pink showing through like you said. Also the soft pastels 🤮 always hated them, they always feel gross too and are honestly just such a mess. The eye you made with them was definitely so good though 👌❤
🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡 I love your videos, You’re the first person that I’d seen doing a scrapbook/sketchbook kinda thing. I love the idea of your sketchbook also being a memory book and time capsule. Definitely going to try it out some time in my own sketchbook. 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡 🧡
I love your videos, your art really inspires me. I stopped making art for a while and your videos have helped me pick up art again. Thank u for being inspiring!!!! ❤❤❤
You did what I did with my soft pastel drawing first : I ruined it with fixative ! We have to use the fixative very far away from the painting and of course it doesn't protect at 100% 😭😭 thats why I hate to use them ! Impossible to protect it (or you have to put it under a glass and frame it 💀). But I really love oil pastels. Your tests are very interesting. Thank you for sharing 🙏❤️
@@thelastcoffeebean oh same here hahahah 😂💖 I remember trying them a few years back and they just get eVerywhere - I got mad respect for those pastel artists who make those super detailed portraits using them, how they make such beautiful pieces without getting the dust everywhere is wizardry-
i also really like oil pastels and if i'm being completely honest the crayola oil pastels are pretty good. they have good color payoff, fair blending, and they're consistent in texture. I would recommend them if you wanna try them at a more affordable price
That’s weird that you don’t like the Arrtx oil pastels because Arrtx and Paul Rubens are sister companies, so I would assume it’s the same pastels. I have both and found them ok. Mungyo and Sennelier are my favourites. I am going to try out the Artagain paper. Keep creating 💙💜💛
Assalamu alaikum Nourr:D Prefect timing cos i was using oil pastels for the first time in ages yesterday Its like my least fave medium and im tryna get better at em
I love the sketchbook pages! I think you were a little bit to hard on yourself though, You haven’t used the medium a lot, so you are not gonna be the best at it at least in your eyes. I think u have an amazing art there’s always time to get better and better but we are not perfect and that’s ok. I recommend to take breaks if you’re struggling that might help.

Pastels are literally my nightmares! Yet you made them look so easy here! Any suggestions for those of us who has zero experience (at least positive experience!) ? And as always, another amazing video! Love the entry view too! Keep it up!
Thank youuu! I really love oil pastels they feel like thick acrylic paints in crayon form! I advise using monochromatic colour schemes to start out 💯 it makes things so much less muddy and complicated and you can just have fun focusing on values and shapes
6:27 I took a class with oil pastels, and I think the issue here is either 1. Yellow is the weakest pigment according to colour theory, 2. You may be layering them too much, because after a certain point of surface richness, you'll eventually be just scraping off pigment to put on another one, 3. If you're using the yellow on top of another colour, again, weakest pigment, its not going to stick, or really any combination of these. Edit: The entire "sealing" process for the chalk pastels was painful to watch.
Maybe a different type of paper for the soft pastels. It looks like the paper you’re using isn’t conducive to soft pastels because of the lack of ability to layer on the paper. Just a thought.
Haven't watched your videos for a while, nice to know you're still as creative as ever!
Aww thank u! 🥹🧡

soft pastels can be used with gouache it's very useful for glow effect and fog.. etc.
