Good luck on your exams. And take time to relax when you finish the semester, draw for fun. Have you ever used acrylic paints? Sometimes art blocks can be broken through by trying TOTALLY different things. Journaling can be helpful. Write about your block, things that are going on right now, things you like, things (subjects) you wanna explore ( and why), wrote what ever comes to you! Use it as a brain dump. Sketch amongst your writings. Find other artists work (old and new). Print out a picture and write what you like about it. Find art in a different medium and write about what attracts you to it. Write about ANY AND EVERYTHING that inspires you! Dissect line use, color layering and textures. How are they used to create atmosphere.
Make a idea jar make an emotion jar and a style jar: choose one of each and see what happens. Thinking about you. Have a great end to your semester!!!❤🎨❤️🎨❤️🎨❤️

I feel like the word lazy is overused and that it just doesn’t fit in as many situations anymore, there’s often a reason that people overwrite as laziness
For example: art block, depression, adhd, autism, etc!

i got randomly recommended this video and i’m so glad i clicked on it!!!! this was super fun, relaxing, and reassuring to watch bc i’m getting out of an art slump that’s lasted nearly over a year (since march 2022. it had ups and downs but it mostly kept getting worse), and i’m trying to have more fun with art and to feel less intimidated by it if that makes sense? bc i’m way more terrified of failure than i should be and i need to get over that
something that’s really helping me with getting over that fear is, instead of sitting down and going “this has to be perfect”, i try to tell myself “it has to be _excellent.”_ it’s not much better, but at least it’s achievable. we’re only human, there’s no way we’re ever going to be able to make anything perfect in our entire lives, and that’s okay. we _can,_ however, achieve *excellence* instead of perfection. ive also heard a rule that’s helped me a lot with this, where you tell yourself that the drawing only has to be _at least_ 70% perfect. if it’s under 70% perfect, then either work on what you don’t like, try again another time, or just move on from the drawing
this was also rlly fun to watch because i’m a digital artist and it’s been years since i’ve done traditional (apart from little doodles in my sketchbook), so i find it nice to watch traditional artists do their thing!! especially since ive been procrastinating on getting back into traditional art since like, december lol
i really love your art style!!!! it’s super comforting to look at. honestly, the combination of colored pencils + watercolor almost looks digital with the way you use it, it’s super impressive. the cluttered environment you did is also literal eye candy, i can’t stop looking at it!!! i’ve been wanting to try doing more detail in my drawings, and i want to try environments as well bc it’s been so long since i’ve tried to draw one. but ive been really scared to bc it feels really intimidating, but this helped me feel less scared about it

You know, I never put 2 and 2 together regarding White Knights. I stopped seeing watercolor artists I follow using their paints when the war started. I knew they were Russian but just didn't put the pieces together. I'm glad you mentioned this here and the lovely people who commented sharing information. I learned a lot here today. ❤

I know russia is a hot topic and for good reason. But pleasee remember that the coverment of russia does everything to control there own citizens as well. You can literally be thrown in jail or killed if you say something agaings the coverment. Therefore you can´t expect the company to say someting about that topic

I love the way that you use color!!!! You always use colors on the opposite sides of the color wheel and they still never compete. Just like a bright yellow with a dark purple? Or a bright green with a dark magenta? OMGGGG! It looks absolutely scrumptious!

Ramadan Mubarak 💖💖 I Love how the skull turned out 😍😍😍 I genuinely feel bad about a lot of Russian brands, even if they are against the war they can get in serious trouble if they expressed what they feel publicly. I love their paints, I customized a pastel set from their paint and it's just a joy to paint with them 💔💔 I just hope it ends soon, everything about the war is so heartbreaking I can't handle to keep up with the news anymore.
I love to go threw and find things on Pinterest and such for reference and even just watching a favorite movie or show and sketching fan art.

I really appreciate watching this video because I’ve also been in a serious art block since I finished my masters program last year specifically doing my thesis where I did over 20 artworks within a month. That sucked out all my creativity and I haven’t picked up traditional art since. This is motivating me to try and force myself to paint but having the will power to set up for it is not there. Hopefully we both get over this hurdle.

Wow ! That sounds amazing. I hope your show went well. Make art for you, explore creating things you want for yourself. That’s what art is about. Don’t worry about the outside world might think, don’t show it. Sometimes as artist, especially with all this social media, we find ourselves caught up in our creations being easily accepted by the masses and sellable. (As an older artist, I have gone through many block and some are harder than others to work our way out of.)
Start a whole new sketchbook: journal in it. Write about things,ideas and messages you want to express. Use this sketchbook as a’ brain dump’. Make basic sketches of these ideas. Find images, color samples, and /or textures. YOU LIKE- that excites your inspiration. Like miniature idea boards.
Have fun with your creativity ( try to stay away from a lot of social media). Explore the world around you, have fun!!!

Love a detailed background, I always have a lot of fun making them but yes the color part is a pain lol placing colors and keeping visual contrast is something that takes me a lot of time. I also don’t mind videos that don’t have a specific topic, I love to watch what people are doing and what are they working on and listening talk about their experiences so keep it and don’t be so hard on yourself!!!
I want to thank you for being so transparent with us. As someone who's struggling a lot with art block as well and especially that "everything I draw has to be perfect" and forgetting I actually like the process of drawing, it is so insanely reassuring to hear someone else have these exact thoughts as well.

welcome back! both of the paintings look so amazing 💜 I hope your art block goes away for good 😤 as a Ukrainian, I wanted to thank you for talking about the issues with white nights. I'll try to explain this the best I can - every time I see Ukrainians talk about this, we get so much hate 😅 basically, with the way the war is going, we see that russia is using up all of its resources to, let's say, destroy as many of us as possible. thus, a conclusion can be made that any companies that are based there are financing the war, since they are paying taxes and russia is ready to spend all the money from its budget to continue the war, even if it destroys their economy completely. that's why many Ukrainians highly advise not to purchase anything that could benefit russia even slightly, we also boycott foreign companies that stayed there. when it comes to watercolours, in case you'd be interested, there's a Ukrainian brand Rosa Gallery, who also produce artist grade paints (they do have student grade ones, but they are called Rosa Studio) and they're very very affordable! I really love them, they work beautifully with wet on wet and I think that the colours are very vibrant, I highly recommend 🥰🌻

i love that you brought up white nights and how tricky it is to enjoy them now... a huge moral dilemma of mine. i'd like to add that rosa gallery are ukrainian paints that are pretty darn similar to white nights - in case this can help someone out (gallery paints are professionnal grade, as opposed to rosa studio which are student grade).
If you like something that is remotely Russian that doesn't mean you support the war jeez, for example is me being born in Russia make me automatically support the war??? No??? Just enjoy and use what makes you happy
single pigment is good because when you mix them with other paints they don’t get muddy

Thank you a lot for being mindful about endorsing such brand as white nights. In case anyone is looking into affordable watercolor brands, you can actually support Rosa, a Ukrainian brand. They are cheaper than white nights and although they are compared a lot, I like the quality of Rosa watercolor better (well, I'm also biased because I'm Ukrainian)

I feel this video so much, in 2019 I began to study game design and since then art became my job and a duty and during Corona I had a complete burnout and since then (that was 1 1/2 years ago) I haven't drawn, sketched or did anything. Now I feel like I am not having fun anymore, because I see my stuff and just think: irgh how bad, and it is really hard to get back into it and finding the fun experience in it again. But as a classic move, I bought a new art medium *gouache* and new brushes and hope that this will get me some joy T.T I mean, I am hyped, but I am also scarred .-.

I honestly love the way you paint. I have to say something about the white nights comments though. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, of course, but let's not be naive. These Paul Rubens are Chinese, a country that is not known for being kind to its own people, they have been in the Tibet area for 70 years. Anyway, if we were not to use products from countries that are in military conflicts, many come to mind, not only Russia. Plus, being a Russian company doesn't mean that you approve the war. They cannot even say they are against it. Artists on UA-cam can do whatever they want, but it's a bit hypocritical in my opinion.
I agree with your assessment. If we're going to stop using products due to their "problematic/controversial nature" we should start tossing out our phones. As for the White Nights - they're a business who likely employ hundreds of people and couldn't possibly stand against their own government. Punishing them for the actions of their insane dictator seems so bizarre to me, especially when I see UA-camrs using products from China, and so on. I mean, to each their own, but it seems very ignorant to me.

Yesss they are honestly really good! I feel like they make a really good watercolour set for anyone wanting to try professional grade at a reduced price. They are also much better than the Paul Rubens student grade sets!

I'm so late, but finally catching up on your vids! You use your iPhone to film, right? What editing software do you use? You could try color correcting in post production to try to get a more accurate color balance for your footage.

How do you close that palette without the paints mixing? Are they thick enough to not leak on top of each other???
The paints were dry when I closed the palette! It took around 24 hours for them to become firm
Also are you using a table lamp? Because I could imagine the desk lamp would cause the yellow lighting in your video. Maybe you can do a color correction before filming or after filming .o.
maybe the camera was confused by the colorpalette that was reflecting so much light that it adjusted to that? AHh idk xD

I dont know if this was a misunderstanding or something but prussian blue is from Prussia not Russia and prussia doesn't exist anymore, as it has been part of a few baltic countries for a while now. It is a non-political (at least currently) colour :)

I always love your sketchbook spreads! They’re so pretty! Also, quick question, do moleskin sketchbooks work well with alcohol markers if you know? If you don’t that’s okay!
I've used them in the past and they aren't bad BUT I'd suggest putting paper behind the page you're coloring on just for safety, but I don't think anything bled to the next page, just the back side of where I colored :) hope this helped!!
