- one of my first video ideas was to talk about nate archibald and i've finally gotten around to it *applause*. this seems fitting with the reboot airing right now to finally let out some of my frustrations with the character. nate began the show as the "king" but whathappened?
if there is any mistakes, please look away, i've been working on this for too long and im tired of looking at it.

I thought the whole point of Nate as a character was that he was the rebellious child that didn't wanna fallow his family's forced path. He wants to found his own way, but at the end he end up like Tripp, he became a politician just like his grandfather wanted him to be. Such a shame and waste of opportunity. He was the CEO of the Spectator and that should've been it for Nate. Being the mayor of NY? No! Actually being a CEO of a newspaper was also a bad career choice for him. We know he hates to read and also... how can i say this politely, well he wasn't smart enough to run a business. He should've been an athlete, throughout the series the only thing Nate was passionate about other than Serena was sports. He was my favourite and the writers just didn't care for him after first season.
Nate was a coward. He had all of these opinions of a life that was different from the one he knew, but he was ultimately too scared to leave his privileged bubble - even after his struggles due to his father’s arrest. Remember how fast he abandoned his summer plans w Vanessa ? I also think this quality is why he stayed w Blair so long. unlike him, she’s someone who knows exactly what she wants AND does everything to get it. It makes sense that he ended up doing exactly what was expected of him
So he was basically JFK Jr....
Pleasee the fact that out of all the characters in the show HE was the one who ended up alone will forever bug me! Like, you've got someone like Chuck freaking Bass that did all the horrible things he did and even Dan with the whole being gossip girl thing and Nate was the one who ended up irrelevant and single?! Such a crime!!
he is the mayor how is that irrelevant? i think he was sleeping around all the time and being single is kind of a development for him..also they were just out of college by the end of the show or still mid twenties and people often get married later in life
@@MissFreakinLOL Who tf cares that he became mayor lmaoo irrrelevant is in the sense that he didn't do anything worth remembering and no one really cared about him by the end of the show so yeah he was irrelevant but then again the show always treated him more like a side character so it wasn't really surprising, still upsetting tho. And no it wasn't character development that he ended up alone just because he was sleeping around most of the time, that was just another way the show didn't care about his character - he was dating a seventeen year old when he was a whole adult but back in the whole Jenny mess he stopped pursuing her because she was three years younger? Lmao no sense at all. Btw if that was the case then Serena should've also ended up alone because she was also sleeping around/constantly having a new boyfriend throughout the whole show so I'm sorry but miss me with the "character development" arc. They weren't just out of college, there was a time jump where Blair had like a whole 6 year old with Chuck and I'm well aware that people can get married later in life, this isn't real life tho this is a show and in shows each main character has their endgame by the end of it (and yes I know that there are also cases where characters end up alone but that's rare and it's usually not a main character either) so it didn't make sense or was any fair for Nate to end up single while everyone else got their happy ending.
I am so glad someone finally talks about Nate. As a character. Nate’s always been my favourite. I am glad you explored him more. !!

i hate how they sidelined his friendship with blair completely in later seasons. it would have been so touching to have a scene with them before blair's wedding to louis, especially considering nate proposing to blair was one of the first dramas in gg.
Nate is the best in the show and he deserved a better story line. Anyway I watched the show only because of this handsome man.
but fans did gave him a happy ending with serena.
2 years of marriage with dan, serena divorced him and married Nate and lived happily
i feel like Nate is too good for them, he deserves a better relationship than with Serena or Blair

Nate was always my favourite character. He was a complete golden retriever. Like the only one that really seemed to try to be a good person.
I think it’s because Politics kinda just runs in his family and I think it works because I feel like since Nate always (has been the good one does the right thing). Maybe him being mayor has to do with fixing politics. Because we have seen Nate support the people of Brooklyn alot and just the middle class in general. I think Nate would be a people’s choice mayor. But I don’t know this is just my view
yeah i see that! i was just thinking that with the harm of politics, it would be cool to see him stray away but it makes sense for nate to feel more motivated to bring change after what he witnessed.

I would have loved to see Nate find his path. Even if it was just going to class, joining a few clubs. He can realize what he wants to do & they easily could have added drama with the school girls he dates or with struggles in trying to achieve his dreams. I hated his storylines in the later seasons.
I also did like him as Dan's friend. I didn't like the Serena love triangle... but mostly because I think Serena's a terrible character.
Okay but can we appreciate Chace Crawford skin? Dude still got all the moisture. lol
I am sorry but in my head Serena divorces Dan and She picks Nate and they are happy together the end. (Obviously it can’t end like that. )
The characters in season one were all great. But just like Serena, Nate's story reached its peak at the end of season one.
Great video! People sleep on Nate. It would’ve been nice to see him thriving with his own business (Ex: sports management and entertainment or something). I’m fine with him not ending up with a love interest because that was his storyline the entire series. However, I thought Nate and Raina had the most in common compared to his other love interests.

I love Nate so much. I only did not like him when he was judging Serena. But I would have loved him ending up with Serena. He was so nice and just an angel. The writers ruined the show in last season and made the worst ending with Dan and Serena.❤️
It's okay, Serena broke up with Dan and married Nate, then Dan change his name to Joe to start over

If you have read the books you know nate is a very lay back kind of guy.. always in his head not sure how to speak his feelings, always smoking pot and just knowing his good looks and connection will come up to help him
Gossip Girl is one of my favorite series and definitely the only one I've spent time watching and rewatching with great pleasure, (of course I'm talking about the original version not the new one I barely watch (audrey and lola the only legitimate characters with a hint of the old GG). As for Nate he was my favorite character right after my beloved Blair, he never sent a gossip to a gossip girl and always wanted to do things his way + had a moral backbone. Throughout all the seasons it was hard for him to get involved with anyone, with Blair they were adorable but it was more of a relationship for the parents and not themselves. A wild soul and that's what I appreciated most about him, I was never a fan of Serena, she was definitely not a saint and I hated in her "I want to get because I am pretty and not because I worked hard". She definitely didn't deserve Nate (not saying he was saintly all the way but he was way better than Chuck (still love chuck) and I honestly think it worked out a lot better that she ended up with Dan (although it's rly weird). Nate is like Joe from Friends. He's successful and can do whatever he wants, with his family and closest friends by his side which is a really comfortable life. I am glad that someone appreciated our dear golden boy. XOXO

Many people will hate me for this but...
I hate, deeply hate, SerenaxNate. Nate deserves better than Serena, which I found extremely annoying and also boring as a character. I never understood what charisma she should have to make everybody feel in love with her. I found her extremely irritating, but not as much as Dan Humphrey.
Another unpopular opinion, I like JennyxNate. I know she is a controversial character, but I think she is way more interesting than Serena and makes an interesting couple with Nate. Even physically - the big contrast between the sweet sporty boy and the rebel artsy girl - they are interesting to look at.
Serena and Dan deserve each other. She is a plain boring character with a "muse air" and he is a pretentious writer who is unable to write about anything that is not his life.
Honestly, Jenny was one of the most innocent characters on the show. Yes, her making moves on a guy in a relationship was a bad move and disrespectful to everyone involved. Selling drugs was bad too, but I can’t hate her for the Chuck thing. Chuck was the adult in the situation, with a 16 year old girl who was clearly upset and emotionally fragile. He should have known better and he shouldn’t have slept with her. Jenny gets mistreated by fans and by Blair for that one mistake, but Chuck gets off because he’s a man and people think he’s hot. Jenny was actually interesting because she wasn’t afraid to criticize her own behaviour and the other characters. Overall, she had the most self awareness out of them all and with the environment she was around, it’s no wonder she acted out and made so many bad decisions.
I'm totally with you on this. Serena didn't deserve Nate. To me it never seemed like she actually fell in love with him to be honest. She got with him because 1) Serena loved being loved and Nate had been worshipping the ground she walked on for years, 2)she knew he was the guy everyone expected her to be with.
Nate and Jenny always had great potential. Apart from Serena she's the most "consistent" love interest of his; from that kiss in the pilot when he mistakens her for Serena, to the friendship that grows between them, to Jenny falling in love with him. Nate had feelings for Jenny too but 1) she was too young at the time for him to allow himself to properly embrace those feelings, 2)he couldn't let go of Serena without giving it a try first.
Imo if Taylor Momsen hadn't left the show they would have ended up together. They could make a great couple as grown-ups.
finallyyy someone with the same opinion but i think carter and serena could have been a great couple too (an even better one) if they got more attention by the writer
I’m of the opinion that at serena and dan’s wedding, Jenny and Nate reconnect and this time, there’s nothing standing in their way from becoming the power couple we deserve

you are 1000% right. i def should have added a note there but i think said it that way because with breaking it down by season, the audience's knowledge when watching season 1 is that nate/serena affair was the reason she left. i definitely should have made a note that later on in the show, we find out that wasn't the actual reason. great catch!

The reboot sucks. I didnt even bother watching. When I saw the trailer full of forced PC woke asf of multiracial LGBTQXYZ characters I checked out. It's almost offensive how forced these characters are.

@@negnatrepsej2903 the thing is, I didn't bother watching as I tried watching through a couple episodes and got a feel of the show. Also, when it comes to multicultural-ness, they could have done better. I mean, hollywood in general has been so focused on blackwashing what about other races? I think they could have explored with the real actors and actresses backgrounds if they wanted to be so woke. Isn't the actor who played like Filipino Hawaiian? Luna La's character got that Mexican background right, at least I was glad of that but u know, I feel like it was just ' progressive for the sake of progressive' to the point that it almost makes you miss that all white gossip girl + multiracial minions of blairs but with stronger stroylind and better fashion game.
