Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture.
With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

Millennial mode is pretty slick!
You need to get old man Welker on here and let him know that he needs to teach the dog to ride on the fender.
Hey I also found Legarms for you over on Debboss Garage’s page swapping motors on a bulldozer.
Pretty much similar to red machine you ran few months ago.
Welker Farms Inc not propa farmers u lot u just knock offs 🤦🏼♂️
He was watching you earlier when harvesting
Hey Zach, I am sure I speak for all of your subscribers here. When I saw you getting up at 3am to check the corn drier it dawned on me just how much hard work Becky and yourself put in to getting these videos out to us at what is your busiest and most stress filled time of the year. I am sure I am not alone in thanking you all for all your hard work in keeping us entertained.
He gets up at 3 am to do his job and farm and make money, not to make videos.
I don't look at this as being entertained, more as informed. I grew up on a farm and have been away know for over 40 years. It is amazing to see where equipment as evolved along with everything else. I appreciate the hell out of Zack, Becky and all the others for what they are doing and bring able to put out a video now and then to keep us informed.
@@rickmiller1429 I totally agree with that. I am a gen-Xer who worked on my grandpa's farm as a teenager for several summers going on 30 years ago. He was the first person in Michigan to own a Challenger 75 in the early 90s. Loved that tractor. It was a game changer. And things have definitely changed since then! I learn so much from this channel! Really appreciate the depth of knowledge and the explanations. "We're taking this corn even though it's wet because. . ." or "we're spraying this instead of that because. . . " or "we're adding this do-hickey to the combine because. . ." Fantastic.
Farming is hard enough, but doing all these videos too?! It's great entertainment, but it's so much more than that. Zach and Becky are giving us a window into American agriculture that I don't think has ever been there before. It's a big deal because nobody else is doing it quite like this. We have people doing ag business/market recap movies, equipment reviews, repairs and how-to movies, harvest/planting/tillage movies, etc. All interesting in their own right. Love Big Tractor Power and Framhand Mike, and others like them. But Millennial Farmer is operating on another level. It's the total package, and people can see that. Thanks so much to Mr. and Mrs. Millennial Farmer, Nate, Jim, the kids, all of you. You guys rock! Keep doing what you're doing. We'll keep watching.
The bean girl is back! She cute
Philip Kroesbergen she is so beautiful
@@1decks take about 30% off there bud
oooo yes :)
Corbin Matheny love the Letterkenny reference!!
And that’s what I appreciates about her
Bethany is a gem lol
Wow, she sure is Blakhawk1703 !!
I like new toys and pretty women!
What does she even do?
Blakhawk1703 shes smoking.. more Bethany please
Is Bethany single? :)
Appreciate the videos with Bethany :D
She needs to be in more video's
Love the Smokey and the bandit reference! And I’m GenZ!!
Same here buddy
Well, there is the whole truck full of Coors thing that checks out.
My daughter is post millennial and she loves that movie. She'd get the reference.
77 are the best looking, change my mind
10 4 snow man
Jim: yeah I'm not sure how full you want these trucks.
Zach's dad: same as usual.
Jim: ...... 10-4.
That's quality entertainment.
Favorite part
Load it like a rail car and drive it like Nascar! Lol
Anyone else watch these vids because you used to work in farming and these bring back memories
Thanks for informing all your non farming followers the sacrifices every farmer makes to keep us fed!
Love the smell of drying corn. Fresh cut silage and fresh cut hay best smells of a farm
Nick Garling and potatoes being harvested
@@skydom1000 never smelled that. Will have to try and find a potato farmer
@@farmkid88 potatoes being harvested is a unique smell. I agree with your comment about the various crops and aromas!
One you want to block ya nose with is soy beans 🤢🤮
God Bless the American farmer. Spent many a years helping the family grain hauling business.
The smell of drying corn is by far the best aroma in the world!! I would buy the smell if I could. I would wear it as cologne. It would hang from my rear view mirror.
I am fascinated. I have distant family who farm, but I never realized what business skills are required. Thanks, I’m learning lots. I’m a late baby boomer and my hat is off to you, millennial.
The machine teaches itself... "auto-didactic" is the term you are looking for. But terminology is the least of your worries. I never imagined harvesting was so complicated. And yeah, the smell of drying grain is amazing.
I'm not a farmer but I used to be a mill manager for Landmark in Ohio. I always loved that smell when we ran our dryer.
Hello From the UK Zach. So much to say. Firstly you are a great presenter. Sharp-witted Too.
You have a very mature head on those shoulders. I am 66 years old. And the son of a farmworker. I can't get enough of you sir. I am now a new subscriber to your channel. Oh and My wife thinks you are cute and funny.
From Dave and Diane in the UK xx
As an old laid back Kansas wheat farmer once told me after putting some on the ground, "The Pheasants have to eat too."
In Sk i always say the deer have to eat too.
Hey, can't be just corn to fill the bellies, we need meat too!
I'm no farmer but I love your videos, gives me a much greater insight and appreciation of the farmers that feed my family and countries all over the world. Thank you. The technology in your equipment is insane!
That was a good smokey and the bandit reference
Bethany is, in all likelyhood, the prettiest young lady ever. written and intended with the utmost respect.
I love helping people where I live they say thank you for helping with there mowing the grass and wiedwaking
I live in the house where my dad used to dry corn in Indiana. I will never forget the smell of drying corn. I wish I could come out with a truck air freshener called drying corn!
AWWW you reached down and pet the kitty, that definitely deserves a smash on the LIKE button...
Go Go Juice and Groceries down your neck! Long Live Jerry Reed aka “The Snowman”.
My kids are even to old to be considered Millennials
You must be older then!
Love the new podcast only thing better then the smell of drying corn is roasting beans.
I'm a not a farmer and I love these videos
I am so happy to know that guys like this exist. Not only to provide us with crops but also to listen to football games in a harvester.
Drying corn is possibly the best smell of fall.
I was at US Bank Stadium watching the game while you were listening to PA (Paul Allen). Keep up the good work.
Great words from the snowman!. Long live Jerry Reed
I'm in Western Canada, Vancouver Island, but I gotta take my hat off to you and all the other farmers both American and Canadian.. The financial outlay, dedication, changing technology, risk. And now this Covid 19 business. Let alone the farmers in Florida plowing in their crops and dumping milk down the drain.I'm sitting around cooling my jets until fire season ramps up and then go out as a Medic with FF's. Lots of changes coming in my direction.Good job, I hope this will be a good year for all of you.
I've always liked the smell of corn drying. There are several GOOD aromas on a farm, and I don't mean 'the smell of money' on a pig farm!
As a pup, I used to walk the furrow behind Dad when he was plowing to smell the fresh turned dirt, and maybe pick up a few worms for a trip to the crick. Running the hay conditioner as a teen, I would get a good whiff of fresh cut hay once in a while. Most of the time it was like work, and so noisy you couldn't smell anyway.
Another smell I liked, was of fresh ground corn as it came out of the Montgomery Wards Grain Buster hammer mill.
I can't go around your Fb Story.... that what you all do for other farmers...thats what real people do . Some people must look at you all!! Im myself volunteer firefighter and I know how is to help other people in trouble. After that you feel amazing knowing you did something good for someone... great job!! ✌💪
Up at 3am to check the dryer, it's all glam this farming
Actully, Someone was struck with the beauty of his sidekick and may have misjudged a pass. Or he wisely extended his time with the striking beauty. Every machine would have buddy seat, if the "buddy" was certain to be that lovely. God Bless you.
Zach is in JD combine heaven........didn't even have to die.
10:41, your fist bump to the air, in the combine after the Vikings scored.
Now it’s officially harvesting season
Boy, You have the horn for the corn. Watching from the UK love watching you videos. Them crazy dogs fight/play 24/7. Happy to see camera at the rear as I love them crazy dogs and your little ones are very young. Keep safe family and I hope it all works out.
Bethany can come ride with me anytime!!! Millennial Mode is pretty cool. Have a great harvest!!!
Give me 2 Diablo Burgers and a Dr. Pepper in a hurry. Can't tell you how many times I watched that movie. With that Combine Advisor, I saw that earlier this fall harvesting milo, and it was amazing. The '19 s780 with a 35 foot head was outperforming an '18 s770 with a 40 foot head... I'm sure some of that was operator based, but I ran cart by myself for the 40' head guy and checking his losses and it was considerably more.
14:15 the smell of success / accomplishment . so many peoples you gonna feed. :)
Agreed! The best smell all fall is drying corn!
I am a millennial but I’m also a trucker and grew up into trucking I got it! Grocery’s and Go Go juice 👍🏻
Smokey and the Bandit reference, at least we know you've seen one of the classic movies.
I was lucky enough to see the movie when it came out in the theater. I guess that makes me older than dirt to you you guns lol
I saw that one in Pensacola FL in the theater. Great movie.
I absolutely loved harvesting at night, especially on Saturdays. Find a good football game (hopefully the Hawkeyes were playing at night) on the radio and go. Once the sun went down and it got a little cool and crisp, I really loved being out in the fields.
As for the smell of drying corn, we lived fairly close to the local elevator and you could hear their dryers and smell it when the wind was from the northwest.
That grain cart is so cool.
Haven’t been bored once in the combine this harvest since I have a steady stream of Millennial Farmer videos to watch!
I caught the Smokey and The Bandit reference. NICE!!! And trading Woody for Bethany, nice upgrade!!!
I appreciate all you do to help the pheasant population! #Rooooooossssteeeerrr!
Thanks for the hard work. Keep your team and yourself safe and healthy this harvest.
Thanks for watching, heck thanks for doing. As a city kid working in farming communities in Manitoba, your families work has enabled me to understand their lives more. Thank you.
That's what is called machine learning. Nice to see it's getting into Agricultural machines. See all that money spent on higher education and research, for the past seventy years, is ultimately put to use in agribusiness.
Love your channel, Zachary.
0:00 Big props to your hair and makeup crew for making it look like you just woke up. Getting up long before sunrise for a long day of filming as the actor in the role of the Millennial Farmer must be hell, but you and your crew make it look so realistic! Emmy nominations sure to come!
Who only got 11 rows for their plot share ? Skynet became self aware sometime in the 90s and then Arnold had to step in ,I hope all these self aware combines don't get together and decide to change the way things are run around here ! Hahaha Grain on top the bin call 1-8000 Randy the pipe layer he's got experience!! Glad you found some dryer corn hope things continue to well !! As always thank you for the video !
Appreciate you explanations of harvesting equipment functions. Love operating big equipment.
I was over at your neighbors fields yesterday 10/27. Hauling corn and plowing fields. Learning the ropes of harvest. Never been. Had a blast!!
Thanks for teaching/updating us Zach! It is a very interesting evolution from what I knew in my youth.
You do a great job explaining in detail how everything works!
Thank you!!
I remember going to Minnesota beautiful countryside as well the sunrise and sets thanks for the video
Thanks for making this time of year as special for us as it must be for you farmers!
the Smells of Harvest time I do miss alot, hope some year to make it back to Southern Iowa to my Cousins Farm for harvest time, just like fresh mowed hay and a cool summer evening,AWESOME
Hi Zach, awesome John Deere combine -- what a "thinking machine!" You and the team are putting in the long hours and doing "what you have to do." Great to see that corn rolling in and looking good. By the way, nice to have the drier. When I was on the farm, there was no dryer except in town which means you had to sell it wet and pay for drying. This way you can control how dry and when to sell. Great to have that dryer. Best wishes, - Dean from Edina.
Out driving the back roads of Iowa, Illinois and Missouri over the past couple days ... watching your channel helped me truly appreciate all the machinery, hard work and people that I saw working their fields! Thanks for sharing
Becky is a combine articulate queen 👸
Drying corn in harvest time is just like calving in the spring… I gotta get up in the middle of the night and check that everything‘s OK! 👍🤗
You do a great job of letting people know step by step on how things work on your farm. I like everything you do keep up the great job!! 👍
Thanks for sharing Zach, glad to see all is going well so far hope it stays that way. 😊🤞
I liked seeing the grain switcher.
The one Ag smell that I love the most is fresh cut alfalfa. Grew up around it and it smells so sweet.
I love the smell of drying corn too haha. Dryers look so cool with the steam pouring off of them too.
My harvest has been done over a month. Every day i wait for your harvest video, its like watching a camp fire, never gets old.
3:37 The one and only Snowman! As a 4th generation truck driver/ teamster that movie is my favorite. RIP Jerry Reed (Snowman).
Don't you love those 3 AM wake ups? I never farmed but was on a fire department for 31 years. Worked 24/48 shifts - wished I had kept track of all the calls I went on over the years. So I know how it is to be up at those hours. Thank you for the video - calling for snow here tonight of maybe 1 inch. But more on the way later in the week. Take care Spin
+1 on the smell of drying corn. Personally also love the smell when diggn' corn fields.
Nice looking Sukup bins!
This is like a sports game; I'm just rooting for Zach to get all his crops in before the snows.
Love this channel keep em coming i wait for them everyday
Love that smell of drying corn . Great video keep it up and God bless
The drying corn smell is something I love along with the smell of milk replaced for calves.
smell of drying sunflower seed is way better
You are the man! Very nicely done on this channel. I've been honestly looking forward to harvest season for awhile now. The last thing I would want to do at 3am when getting up to check something would be to grab a camera and start vloging, but you did it. It shows dedication to your channel, thank you!
I was getting cold sweats wondering if a video was coming today! Thanks for doing what you are doing and best of luck for the rest of harvest!
Appreciate the videos wait everyday for them to come out 😁
Austin Novosad me too they brighten my day.
Great to see you on corn now. Let's hope you get your full harvest in before winter really sets in.
"That's what she said"
LMAO!!!
Been tormenting my teenage grandson with that one lately.
Yeah man it is harvest time! This is what you have been preparing for all year, hang in there and get some sleep.
Yup, love the smell of corn drying, fresh cut hay and the smell of diesel smoke in the morning. Safe harvest to your crew. Hey, you see the new John Deere tractor they showed off on 10/28. I like to see that 8RX 4 track tractor on that nice new grain cart. That would be sweet.
Great video for a father of an inspiring farmer. Looking forward to showing him your setup. God Bless bro.
You're a good and a hard worker Zach, you could teach any generation how to work!
You and your family are very hard working people. Much respect to all of you. And I really like your explanation of the software in that new combine. Sounds like that machine is a significant benefit to your fall harvest. Hang in there and I hope the weather cooperates.
Thanks for the video, I think people take for granted how much work there really is to just dry corn. Keep up the good work.
Not a farm person but sure enjoy learning and watching
Thanks for what you do. I know it is difficult to film most everything you do but I appreciate it. I wanted to be a farmer but, oh well life doesn't always cooperate. I have learned so much from this channel.
Anyone else watching this have problems with their combine in Millennial mode? The grain camera on ours, and some other combines in the area, gets moisture inside of the camera housing after running for a few days. Deere said to open it up and put silica packs inside of it as a temp fix....lol. glad to see your corn harvest get up and running.....good luck
Another cool video. Some pretty high tech computer stuff being used there Millennial farmer.
Maybe a step up from the old JD55 when we put reflective tape on shafts on the right side of the machine and added a rearview mirror to watch them!! What a monitor!!!lol
Smokey and the Bandit! Love that movie, and I am just a couple years shy of 20!
I am with you on the smell of the corn dryer Love it.
Thank you Zach for making informative and entertaining videos!!!!!!!!!!
I just spent the last 16 hours drying corn in a brock tower dryer. My company has dried almost 4 million bushels so far this year
I love harvest because we get so many uploads :)
