Always felt Candlebox, and Blind Melon were the 2 most underrated bands of the 90's.

This song was written for Andrew Wood, singer of Mother Love Bone. He died
in Seattle on March 19, 1990, at the age of 24, following a drug overdose.
The original song was a favorite back in the day, so I wasn't sure how an acoustic version could live up to it. They have taken the song to a new level here. Awesome version.
This isn't a "cover" that is actually CANDLEBOX 💗
You should see a live version where after the solo they throw in a little bit of a Led Zeppelin song then dive right back into far behind. Fantastic.

He's protected his voice over the years, you can tell by how well he still sings! Very nicely done!
Agreed. I was very impressed by this vocal performance. The 90s hard rock/grunge era provided is with some of the best songs and vocalists Earth has ever had.

@@roberthaizlip4057 There’s nothing fanboy about how I’m interpreting this performance. He’s hitting the same high notes here that he did on the album. The only difference is in his phrasing (which many singers alter on songs they perform thousands of times), and you can hear a little more raspiness in his timbre. That said, he’s hitting the notes full-on.
Yes, I was alive at the time and I still listen to the cd I bought back then, so I do know “wtf I’m talking about”.

This brought tears to my eyes!!! I lost one of my best friends to suicide in November of 2022. To me, this is arguably better than the original version.... THANK YOU CANDLEBOX for all the memories and music for the past 30 years.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🤘🤘🤘

I loved this song when it first came out. After my husband’s death in 2020 is held an even more special place in my heart.

this is my mom’s favorite song, she says it was her and her brothers song before he passed away. i never got to meet my uncle, but every time I listen to this song I imagine what he was like, how close we would’ve been, all the trouble he would’ve helped me get into as I grew up. my mom always tells me I remind her of my uncle Kenny so much, I wish you didn’t have to leave us far behind🤘❤️

13 years old when this song came out. I remember buying the CD and playing this + YOU over and over again. Plenty of tough times came and went in my life, and Candlebox was always there for me.

Song is kinda heartbreaking, as with many songs you don’t realize it until you read the lyrics, played this song over and over growing up, and just realizing now how heartbreaking it truly is. Amazing version.

FUCKING AMAZING !! .My dad had a Rock band in the 80's, he was a guitarist but he fell into heroin in the 80's and 90's .. He died last week with 57 years old
The 90's were heavy , lot of drugs especailly heroin . Kevin is one of the few grunge survivors along with Eddie Vedder and others who still rock!!

They sold millions of albums. They did ok. Even without the lead guitarist and probably other original member(s) ,Kevin is still able to tour as Candlebox thirty years after they were popular.

Saw these guys 12 years ago live on SLC. At that time they were essentially forgotten and unknown. Im so glad they are played more and get the recognition they deserve. Tiok me years to re discover them. They were forgotten in the early 00s because of all the other incredible music in the 90s.

Wow! Absolutely fantastic performance. I’ve been on a Candlebox retro binge recently and re-discovered many tunes. This is legit one of the very best acoustic performances I’ve ever heard and this song is timeless; it hits harder today than it did back then.
