The original song was a favorite back in the day, so I wasn't sure how an acoustic version could live up to it. They have taken the song to a new level here. Awesome version.
Agreed. I was very impressed by this vocal performance. The 90s hard rock/grunge era provided is with some of the best songs and vocalists Earth has ever had.

13 years old when this song came out. I remember buying the CD and playing this + YOU over and over again. Plenty of tough times came and went in my life, and Candlebox was always there for me.
I always say the pure soul of a song is revealed when it's played acousticly. And this is about as raw and powerfull as it comes.. I can not listen to it without shedding a tear, especially when the "but you couldn't share your pain, noooooooooo" and then when one of the best solo's of the last 3 decades starts in... One of the most heartfelt and pure songs ever
The rock and soft rock radio stations in Houston plays this song everyday, which isn't bad but that being said I think it's kinda sad they play their songs more than Alice in Chains or soundgarden which is weird. Houston radio stations suck. Queens of the stoneage songs for the deaf concept actually makes since to me now
this is my mom’s favorite song, she says it was her and her brothers song before he passed away. i never got to meet my uncle, but every time I listen to this song I imagine what he was like, how close we would’ve been, all the trouble he would’ve helped me get into as I grew up. my mom always tells me I remind her of my uncle Kenny so much, I wish you didn’t have to leave us far behind🤘❤️

Song is kinda heartbreaking, as with many songs you don’t realize it until you read the lyrics, played this song over and over growing up, and just realizing now how heartbreaking it truly is. Amazing version.
Kevin, you sound amazing and keep on keeping on. You've captured my feelings in this song since I was 5 years old in 1999. It has a special place for me
FUCKING AMAZING !! .My dad had a Rock band in the 80's, he was a guitarist but he fell into heroin in the 80's and 90's .. He died last week with 57 years old The 90's were heavy , lot of drugs especailly heroin . Kevin is one of the few grunge survivors along with Eddie Vedder and others who still rock!!
Partied with these guys back in the day. How many great songs came from the untimely death of Andrew Woods, he was truly loved in the Seattle scene. Such an awesome band and how awesome do they sound today! Amazing....
This is my child hood right here! Was browsing some older songs and I’ve gotten into acoustic as of late and wow! He still got it and this is an incredible rendition! The guitar 🎸 was outstanding 👏🏼
This brought tears to my eyes!!! I lost one of my best friends to suicide in November of 2022. To me, this is arguably better than the original version.... THANK YOU CANDLEBOX for all the memories and music for the past 30 years.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🤘🤘🤘

I along with millions of others I would assume have taken this deeply personal song and intertwined it in our lives. That first crush. That first kiss . Thank you Mr. Martin for this gift from somewhere not found on this earth.
Saw these guys 12 years ago live on SLC. At that time they were essentially forgotten and unknown. Im so glad they are played more and get the recognition they deserve. Tiok me years to re discover them. They were forgotten in the early 00s because of all the other incredible music in the 90s.
Just lost lost my wife of 35 yrs, 2 bouts of lung cancer and addiction. I'll be homeless in 1 month. I was her caretaker for 10+ yrs. I'm not disabled or quite 60 yrs old, I retired after 28 yrs at a local chemical co.,so they took her SSI from me. Off the soapbox. We absolutely loved Candlebox. In my truck, we used to scream at the top of of our lungs to "Candlebox Frogstomp" Peace y'all. Take care. ✌️
They sold millions of albums. They did ok. Even without the lead guitarist and probably other original member(s) ,Kevin is still able to tour as Candlebox thirty years after they were popular.
I have loved you guys FOREVER! I am 60 now. Glad we both survived it....me almost no. Opiates since 1995. I got clean on Suboxone 5 years ago. Lonnnngggg time out there...I forgave myself...others did not, so I left them Far Behind...❤❤❤Jeannie in Lakeport California

Trying to get my kids to learn …. So much great music out there this version of the original is what I experienced of so many rock club live versions back in the 90s. I would pay $5-$15 to be in a shoulder to shoulder crowd and hear phenomenal music at the time that others weren’t aware of…. This is phenomenal.. and I’ll share with kids. Appreciated.
That is a solid acoustic live solo to perfection man!! Last I saw this guy perform it was 1993 at the off ramp in Seattle. Back when it was cool to live near it.
This song always hits me hard. Early 90s, I lost many classmates and friends. One was murder and to this day, no one found her killer. Those who lost at a young age had their demons we didn't know about.
Thanks for the great love ❤️ and support you show me as a special fan of mine😍, I hope you won't stop listening to tracks , and thanks for your sincere Compliment and love towards my tracks ❤️may God bless you.
Always felt Candlebox, and Blind Melon were the 2 most underrated bands of the 90's.
And Sponge
I agree, 3rd eye blind as well
That first Blind Melon album was so perfect. That CD gets car play so often. So comfy like a warm blanket on a cold day.
Can’t forget Dishwalla
Blind melon yes, candlebox got a lot of love
This song was written for Andrew Wood, singer of Mother Love Bone. He died
in Seattle on March 19, 1990, at the age of 24, following a drug overdose.
He took it while in MLB, then Eddie didn't have to die for PJ, only living OG grunge singer.
"Maybe" was changed last minute from "Annnnndy"
The original song was a favorite back in the day, so I wasn't sure how an acoustic version could live up to it. They have taken the song to a new level here. Awesome version.
This isn't a "cover" that is actually CANDLEBOX 💗
You should see a live version where after the solo they throw in a little bit of a Led Zeppelin song then dive right back into far behind. Fantastic.
Not a cover
@@trevoratkins3865 I know it's not a cover per se, I should have said "acoustic version" (Changed it because people keep replying about it)
🤣🤣 a cover? Not a cover man 🤣🤣🤣 it's Candlebox lol. He just got old and hairier.
He's protected his voice over the years, you can tell by how well he still sings! Very nicely done!

If any acoustic song can come close to such an unreal original classic, it’s this one.
Come close? Nah, it's just okay.
He deviates too much from the original

My absolute favorite band of all time. That unmistakable voice!! Memories of a good life…..😢
He didn’t destroy his vocals through the years so sounds just like he did in 1993. ❤

Super underrated. Shouldve been a regular radio rotation. Should still be in rotation!!!

I have to agree,wholeheartedly..
It is. Its played constantly all over the US.
