Movie Summary:

The 2nd film switches between the past when Donna was young and got pregnant, and the present which is shortly after this film. Most of it is in the past though so you see the whole story of that summer

This movie is 110% my comfort movie, its super chill, funny and lighthearted, kind of hard to be sad with abba songs too :)

The second movie is a prequel. It is about how Donna met Sophie's dads. And I actually really enjoyed it.
I highly recommend the second movie! The original cast does return and it's a lot of fun

“Mama Wesley” is also in a movie called Calendar Girls you should watch! It’s based on a true story about older ladies who posed naked for a calendar to raise money ❤❤❤❤ it’s so good and beautiful!!

Someone mentioned already to watch “Into The Woods” if you want to see more of Meryl Streep singing, and I 1000% agree! Definitely watch that one! One of the best movie adaptations of a Musical!
Love these movies, they’re so fun.
The sequel is how I discovered Lily James. She has such a fantastic voice. It’s not a perfect movie and has some wild moments, but I still love it. I also have a sentimental attachment to it, so I’m a little biased.

My favorite songs are from the second movie, but I love "slipping through my fingers " from the first movie
My wedding I wasn’t a bridezilla. I was cool as a cucumber so was my hubby. The guests and the family planning the wedding were freaking out that we weren’t freaking out. It was a really nice wedding, but there were wasps everywhere by the flowers and the reception it rained because it was all outdoors and I was just calm and happy to be with my hubby for the rest of my life, We’re still happily married till death do us part. ❤
Pacing of the second movie is similar to this one. First half slower and then banger after banger hitting you on all levels of emotions, leaving you completely destroyed. It's amazing.
So the 3 Meryl Streep movies you should watch to see her incredible range .... "Into the Woods", its a musical that has a lot of famous people you'll recognize and its good. "Death Becomes Her", its a comedy with her and Bruce Willis. "Sophie's Choice", this one comes with a warning as its a drama. It is a little slow but its so powerful and you think you can handle being a parent .... you wait until you've seen this movie. Her acting in it is so .... I'm not sure there's any words. Love watching your videos!
The photos of the cast party at the ending of filming are amazing. They were drunk on an island for a month together and lived their best lives! That's why they did a second and wanna do a third! Im ready cause I loved the sequel!
This is such a fun comfort film. It’s not perfect, but it doesn’t need to be. It’s just cute and funny.
You might also like watching Billy Elliot which Julie Walters (mama Weasley) also plays a significant role in. Very different but a really deep intense story

Ok....couple of things based on your comments in this video:
1.) You really should consider watching the Birdcage and into the woods. Even if you don't do it for the channel. One's a musical and the other is a classic.
2.) The second movie has a similar cast to this one can't elaborate without giving spoilers. I thought the second movie was worth watching. But it has a very different feel. Mama Mia will always be my favorite of the two because of great times watching with my daughter.

So suggestions for more musicals worth your time: Trolls World Tour (please keep going with the trilogy it is so WORTH IT). Rock of Ages (Great voices. Surprise cast. Its a great vibe). The Wiz ( Basically 'The Wizard of Oz' but reimagined with a full black cast. When you see who the scarecrow is i guarantee you'll be satisfied with this suggestion). I have to thank you so much for this reaction! This was one of my mom’s favorite musical films as she loved ABBA! I still have the memory of us when we went and saw this with my cousins when I was young and then we saw the sequel together years later. It’s one of my fondest memories of her. Watching this reaction felt like she was still here with me. You have got to watch Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again. If you’re interested in any other jukebox musical films, I must recommend these: Rock of Ages, Rocketman, Sing, Sing 2, Lovestruck the Musical, Alvin and the Chipmunks tetralogy, Cinderella (2021), and Trolls trilogy. I must recommend you check out this Christmas musical film, Dolly Patton’s Christening On The Square, which also stars Christine Baranski (Tanya). 👰🏼♀️👩🏼👨❓💙🩵🤍

My favorite song in this movie is excruciating to pick! But I’d probably say Lay All Your Love On Me
The second movie does not top the first. There are MANY plot holes that directly contradict this film. And the energy is no where near the same because the actors aren’t all drunk off their asses and partying every night on a Greek island like they were for the first. 😅 I also have a problem with one of the major events that happens in the sequel (iykyk) that felt like totally unnecessary, forced emotional weight.

Yes all the characters are in the second movie it also sometimes has other axrors playing them though has it goes back to the summer that donna first meet sam , bill and harry.
I think Bill was confirmed to be the father by somebody, but my headcanon is it's Sam or Harry.
I love this movie. My father left when I was 3, and when I was a cashier at a store I said he could go through my line and I would never know. He did, and I didn't. He told a coworker to tell me who he was after he left. I didn't care for the 2nd movie the1st time I watched it, but I gave it a second chance, and now I love that one too.

As far as story structure goes, this movie has more of a classic musical feel to it, whereas the 2nd movie clearly was written as a movie. So it's not quite as campy as the first one, but I still enjoy it. They use a bunch of different ABBA songs in the 2nd one as well, though songs that most of us still know. I love classic musicals though, I've been in a couple and they are just FUN. The cast here apparently had a a ton of fun and was drunk half the time. lol
(Also, Christine Baranski is a well-known award-winning singer in certain circles👍)

20:00 If it was obvious, the only reason the father wasn't involved was because he didn't know there was a kid to be involved with, then no I wouldn't blame the guy for not being involved. 2 of these men barely knew Donna and went on with their life. The third was specifically told she wanted nothing to do with him. They had no reason to look her up. If she didn’t track them down to inform them, she can't blame any of them for not being there.
