    Thanks guys! I've gotten rid of my teflon pans over the years, try to use glass containers for storage, filter my water, buy organic when I can and clean with safe products...little changes, but I agree it adds up and why not err on the side of caution if you can.

    So great job!

    Clean water is definitely the most important for me. Our bodies are made up of around 65% water (give or take depending on the person) so it’s super important to me that I’m replenishing myself with clean water. My boyfriend and I are young and have found the most affordable option for us is to use the reverse osmosis machine at Whole Foods to get our water. We pick up about 18 gallons a week for our family and it comes out to like $6-8. Compared to other things we have tried, $24 a month is not bad for clean water and it is DEFINITELY worth it!! I test the water we get from this RO machine each time to make sure the heavy metals are being filtered out properly. The thing I like about Whole Foods’ machines is that they replace the filter regularly and even have it documented on the side of the machine so I can make sure. Another thing to note with this option is to be sure you use water jugs that are clean and free of harmful plastic that can seep into the water. Once you drink such clean water, you can never go back! You can just taste all the metals/chemicals in regular tap water!
    I have yet to find a shower filter that actually says what it’s supposed to do with filtering out heavy metals... I’m wondering if you guys have a filtering system for that?
    With this said-we do not remineralize our water. I really like your tips on the best ways to do this. Do you notice any difference in the taste of the water with the products you mentioned?? The only thing we really do right now to achieve this is our lime water in the morning which is said to energize the water... But I don’t prefer to drink that all day. Loved the video, thanks!! 😊

    • @Sincerelymakay
      @Sincerelymakay 4 роки тому +2

      dj121 Good question. It all depends on where you live, but here in Texas, the water quality is really bad. Our TDS meter picks up a 650 with our tap water. It has a super heavy chemical smell in the shower and these chemicals are actually absorbed through the skin and inhaled especially when there is shower steam. Ultimately, this type of water leaves my skin/hair super dried out so I’ve been looking for options to filter it. I haven’t found any affordable/feasible options for us yet. Here’s a quick article that touches on the skin absorption of chemicals in water: www.downtoearth.org/health/general-health/your-skin-it-absorbs

    • @Sincerelymakay
      @Sincerelymakay 4 роки тому

      Here’s another article: chriskresser.com/is-your-daily-shower-making-you-sick/

    • @Sincerelymakay
      @Sincerelymakay 4 роки тому +1

      dj121 I don’t follow anything from Chris Kresser, I was just giving a quick article that talks about how the body absorbs chemicals through the skin and also through inhaling it. I personally find that I notice a huge difference from the shower water. My skin and hair get super dried out, my hair turns brassier quicker, etc. My shower smells like I’m jumping into a chlorinated pool. I have lived in Minnesota my whole life up until a couple years ago when I moved to Texas. I’ve never experienced water this bad. Minnesota has much better water quality than where I live now and it has made a big impact in just two years. For me personally, I prefer to filter the water. My body hasn’t adapted to the poor water quality well.

    The RO system you recommend does not list on their website that it removes glyphosate, arsenic or cadmium plus other contaminates. What was your criteria for selecting this brand?

    • @EatMoveRest
      @EatMoveRest  4 роки тому +2

      I just communicated with them about your concern and they do have a formal response with GOOD NEWS:
      Hi,
      AquaTru has been tested by a third-party lab to remove 95.8% of Glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup.
      ------
      Yes, AquaTru does filter Cadmium. Reverse Osmosis filters are known to remove Cadmium and we will be testing for Cadmium in future rounds of testing for additional contaminants to NSF standards. Once that has been done we will provide the percentage rate for the removal of Cadmium.
      ------
      AquaTru has recently been tested and certified, to NSF standards, to remove Arsenic. We will be updating our certification data sheet soon to provide the percentage removed.

    I'm pretty poor but the two luxuries I maintain are organic produce (through local csa's) and glass bottled mineral water (Gerolsteiner being my fav) - I figure I don't smoke, have kids, or drive so I can at least use the money I save from those things and make it count. Definitely been eyeing up that AquaTru...is it expensive to maintain with replacement filters?

    • @EatMoveRest
      @EatMoveRest  4 роки тому

However even when boiling the water to make teas as the water cools and even with added ingredients to make my drinks, the water still smells bad. I don't know what to do. It is advertised as pure, etc. It is, however, a bit expensive and I need to budget at this time. What brand is safe to buy and does not contain glyphosates? I know that you would choose the safest, so would love to know. I can still get the oatmeal from home shopping and pay it off monthly, but would prefer a less expensive, safe brand. Thank you.

    Do you have a recipe for deodorant? Like one that can last all day? If not, will you consider doing a video on homemade personal care stuff?

    y’all really should check out what the world health organization is saying about RO water definitely wouldn’t recommend drinking it or even cooking with it Indian just banned just drink spring water and have it delivered in 5 gallon jugs.

    I just noticed do you guys not have a microwave? I’m trying to only use mine once a week. When baking and cooking things in silicone does that leach into foods? I don’t want my food to taste like silicone 😂

      We got rid of our microwave about 6 years ago! We only use the stovetop or oven to heat/reheat! Silicone doesn’t have enough research yet, but we use it sometimes and don’t feel that certain that we should at all lol...prob will phase it out too!
