Hi guys, I was just outside cleaning my new ego lawn mower on. April 8th 2024.....day of the eclipse.
I used just regular hot water and drill brush under the deck.
And it works very good!!!....and it's real fast. Just let the brush and your drill do the work and wipe clean.....I got my drill brush years ago from Amazon.
    Just wanted to share. Takecare.

No need to grab the blade, stick a screwdriver or similar metal device into the hole at 2oclock on the ring just outside the center piece. This will prevent the blade from spinning while you tighten and loosen. How you did it was not only potentially dangerous, but also not how specified in owners manual.

hi sorry I have only just seen your comment. You bring up a good point. At first I was going to use a screw driver like you pointed out. This is why I did not. About 8 or 9 years ago I had a guy helping me change a blade. The screwdriver fell out and the blade spun round and hit his thumb. Which hurt him so then he turned the lawnmower over so the screwdriver stayed in which hurt the mower. when I got back from the van there was fuel all over the lawn and blood coming out of his thumb. when you are gripping the blade this should not happen. I think all lawnmowers should be sold with something that slots in and stays in. This is properly the best question anyone has asked so far on our channel. So sorry it took so long to reply

Why not scrape the deck clean before putting the new blade on?

good point! from what I remember we were gonna film a video on all the reasons a lawn mower might not be picking up and wanted a bit of dirt there to show how it can reduce air flow to the bag. I think in the end I wanted it to look a bit worse. So delayed filming it and then forgot to it. So new video coming soon!

Can you hose out this area to clean it or will it damage the mower / get water into the motor?

hi good question! I sometimes have to cut very well grass .Which can produce some moisture under the battery. So I would take the battery out first and use low pressure and check the battery port when your done. A dish brush a bucket of warm water with a little garden antibac and a hose to rinse of at the end is probably the perfect combination.
