I already used Swashbuckler and Hexblade from mods. Seeing them added officially now makes me happy. Hexblade/Paladin is fantastic, Swashbuckler/Valor Bard is insane.
Hexbuckler is a favorite combo for me on tabletop. Though feels a bit less enticing without Booming Blade. Though doubt Misty Visions and Mask of Many would be nearly as fun in BG3 (own, but haven’t played far). On tabletop, having expertise to deception can make those invocations very fun(ny).

If BG3 version will be also AOE and not just "choose more corpses" then with ability to pick up bodies it could be one if the strongest spells
Thank you for this video, coming from someone who didn’t play much DnD, this is extremely helpful. Basically every class here sounds interesting in one way or another, but if I had to pick one I’m most interested in, I would probably give it to shadow sorcerer, as I love holding out in my own cloud of darkness as a warlock, so if it’s found that shadow sorcerer can do that as well, I am definitely looking forward to that. I’m already thinking of the possibilities being able to (maybe) twin cast darkness to give me somewhere I can escape to if my current cloud becomes compromised.

i love larian so much 😭 my durge playthrough is a pact of the archfey bardlock. the glamour college is absolutely perfect for the fey vibes 🧚🏼♀️ can’t wait
tavern brawler thrower is already a really strong build in BG3, giant barb sounds like it will make it even cooler, especially if you are not limited to the couple of weapons that have the "return after throwing" property
Hexblade, Bladesinger, Arcane Archer, Swashbuckler rogue. Could not be so excited about these picks from Larian, these subclasses all challenge the traditional playstyle of their parent class and provide a new avenue to get your melee character, ranged character, etc. I love it and am super excited to run it back
Just a note, for the larger size not giving you a bonus to how much you can carry, in the lifting and carrying section of the PHB for every size above Medium you dou le your carrying capacity which is based off your str score.
A one level dip in death domain cleric will pair nicely with bladesinging wizard. I wonder if we get sapping sting too. It's a necromancy cantrip that forces a single enemy to pass a con-save or take minimal damage and be knocked prone.
Path of the Giants is easily one of the strongest, if not the best Barbarian subclass in 5e. I had tons of fun playing it in a one-shot, being able to freely swap your weapon's damage is nuts. Not to mention the shenanigans that stem from being able to grow in size and being able to throw EVERYTHING weapons or friend. Meanwhile Arcane Archer...exists, I guess. Really looking forward to seeing how they make it usable.
So happy! Very excited to try an eldritch blade(5bladesinger+7eldritch knight) probably gnome, a starry soul(2star druid+10divine soul sorcerer) dragonborn, and a beer muscles(6giant barb+6 drunken monk) duergar.
It will be interesting to see how it plays with mutliclassing possibilities as well. So many fun/flavorful builds in my mind already. I wish there was a progression preview option and I wouldn't use wiki (btw, use community supported wiki, it is leagues better than anything else) when I need to check some specifics and just to think about how it will play out. I also wish they would add some more items through all acts. I honestly think itemization is great in this game, however, on subsequent runs (more like 5th-6th) it wears a bit on you, and with new subclasses it would be only logical to add a bit more "toys" to play with. They probably won't and there are probably mods that will support it (I just want balanced and interesting and flavorful, and possibly class specific, like Larian did, not really broken nonsense)
Yes that is how giant barbarian works. It's also very fun because now that weapon mastery exists, you can throw tridents that reappear in your hand every attack and constantly knock flying enemies out of the sky starting at level 6, which is really strong because normally melee barbarians biggest weakness is things that make them make wisdom saving throws and things that they can't reach.
Drunken Monk is gonna be fun to play a funny wise old man character. Oath of the Crown is gonna be super interesting, I've never been able to play a straight up lawful character in RPGs but playing one who fights for overall justice for something greater than himself sounds like rping Batman. I can't wait!
I think its likely they wont give charisma weapons back to hexblade. As it stands having that ability on pact of the blade makes any subclass viable for melee while also devaluing the incredibly strong single level hexblade dip. Were they to give it back hexblade would become the defacto melee warlock and make the only unique feature of pact of the blade multi-attack 2 levels *after* you select the boon
I'm hoping they give it a buffed version. Added crit range, and Armor proficiencies are solid, remaining features but a little something extra would be awesome.
For the last 20+ years my character at the Renaissance festival is a pirate Captain who also has some Magic abilities. I have never played D&D, so Baldur’s Gate 3 is as close as I believe I will ever come. I am just simply not talented enough for tabletop RPG games. That said, I am very excited to see Swashbuckler coming to the game. It sounds like Multi-classing Swashbuckler with a bit of Druid will come closest to my personae at the Renaissance Festivals. Will it be efficient? Probably not. But that’s the wonderful thing about this game, as you can be creative, unique, and still play the game with ease as long as you are paying attention to what’s around you and keep the basic fundamentals in mind. There are meta builds, sure, but what appeals the most to me about the D&D universe is that there is a build, play-style and personae for just about every individual out there, meta or not. :)
I'm really looking forward to the College of Glamour bard, Circle of Stars druid, the Bladesinger and the Hexblade. It's amazing, that they give us those new subclasses.
With these awesome mods on console since I own a PS5, I turned my team into an 1980s style fantasy role playing game when it comes to their clothes, hair and makeup. The look on Atarion is hilarious 😂 lol. I wish I could share clips but my UA-cam channel content is mostly about diecast.
bladesinger wizard+ paladin might be the new 3attack multiclass, since it actually sounds stronger than the warlock, full progression, defensive bonuses, offensive bonuses, high versatility, shield spell. but lets see what the hexblade has in store for us
Druid is my favourite class, I am looking forward to the star druid as it seems very different but cool in a unique way. I will admit when I first heard about the dragon constellation I was hoping that meant I could turn into a dragon of some sort, but that would be silly I suppose.
If you break your Crown oath for not siding with Gortash it will be hilarious. Maybe Will's story will have a few oathbreaking points as well. I will go back to the game to play a Bladesinger, but I might try Stars Druid as well
I just can't wait. Although I have many classes and subclasses left to properly play, they haven't drawn me in the same way most of these new subclasses do. Now I need a mod that allows me to make my own party from start..! Thank you SO MUCH for covering this! Looking forward to your guides and builds!
I finally got Alfira to join the party and went through the process of doing the level ups so that she matched the party level............I got the Durge scene almost immediately after
I sure hope this will get me invested in another class than my usual build (paladin thrower) because i cant help but play the same way every single time
Best way to support Larian beyond game purchase- get others to buy it now that it’s cross platform or go buy Larian merch! Bless these guys . Great update video , thank you!
@@WolfheartFPS Not necessarily. Imagine some kind of literature prof, intimidating and brilliant, knows everything and their magic looks like that of the Carrionites in Doctor Who's Shakespeare episode - just less witchy, but with a lot of chalk dust on everything. 🤔
I’m not the biggest fan of circle of stars Druid in 5e but in bg3 will definitely become one of if not the strongest Druid subclass due to its all round versatility
Torn between shadow sorcerer and glamour bard for dark urge evil run that I've been saving for a while. Playing a glamour bard in D&D and it's solid for CC, but shadow sorc gets puppy
Wow! Another playthrough or 3 is on the horizon! I would love it if Larian gave Swashbuckler Rogues a second attack. Which in my opinion is the rogues greatest weakness. Excited for a bunch of these subclasses!!
I would like a few more options in the custom tab for a new game. The amount of replay-ability is almost unreal. So many different ways to make a character, and different ways a situation or battle could end. My only gripe is that there aren’t more acts and areas to explore.
I'm hoping that with the addition of an actual Hexblade warlock subclass Larian will revise the original warlock class significantly. As you pointed out, Larian made it so the level 3 Pact of the Blade boon already provides one of the core features of the Hexblade subclass (being able to use Charisma bonus for weapon attack and damage rolls). Also, in the current version of the game, the Pact of the Chain boon is extremely underwhelming due to the special familiar summon being a per long rest ability, and (for whatever reason) Larian made it so the Pact of the Tome receives a fixed set of 3 cantrips (in the tabletop, Pact of the Tome gets to pick 3 cantrips from any class). I also hope they fix most of the numerous bugs still present in the game (patch 7 actually seemed to have introduced more bugs...).
There's only one thing I'm ever going to choose... Death Domain cleric of Lolth, wooooooooooooooo! Been dreaming of that ever since early access, and all that be missing to complete the dream would be the ability to play as a custom vampire.
For me it is the shadow sorc, I played a delf shadow sorc in a campaign last year. I basically turned him into a magical assassin. It was pretty kick ass. Bladesinger and Death Domain cleric would be my next two choices, but I may use them on my NPC's. Thanks for the video breaking this down. Oh is there any hint that there will be new magic items to complement these new subclasses?
I think larian should drop the Charisma attack part of Hex Warrior, since it'd be redundant with their version of Pact of the Blade, my prediction is that Hex Warrior will still give the armor proficiencies but with Eldritch Smite functioning similarly to the divine counterpart in place of the Charisma attack.
For the cleric domain spell my money is on destructive wave. Tempest get it for the thunder damage, light get it for the radiant and death will get it for the necrotic variant

I appreciate your basic breakdown of each subclass including the ones I probably won't play through ❤.
Thanks as always Ravi
Great overview, Wolf! The Death Domain Cleric sounds cool, I wonder if this subclass will have any special dialog with Withers?
Thanks Steve. That would be interesting.
I love this! It came out of nowhere! I am stoked to play these new classes next year for sure!
3:27 Bigby's presents Glory of the Giants, as in to show something. Not present, as in gift 🤣
lmao you are right
I've played a Swashbuckler/Battle Master in 5e. It was the closest I've gotten to feeling like John Wick in a ttrpg
This is awesome, and incredibly helpful. Thank you, Wolfheart!
7:34 dandwiki Corpse Explosion: 2nd-level Necromancy, Casting time: 1 action, Range: 60 feet, Components: S, Duration: Instantaneous. As you snap your finger, a dead creature within range explodes with necrotic energy. Each creature in a 15-foot-radius sphere centered on the dead creature must make a Dexterity saving throw. A target takes 2d8 necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. If you reduce a creature to 0 hit points with this spell, the creature explodes, repeating the same effect as this spell. If an undead creature is affected by this spell or its explosion, then it must succeed Constitution saving throw or explode, repeating the same effect as this spell a number of times equal to half its CR (a minimum of 1 time). At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the damage increases by 1d8 for each slot level above 2nd.
With Swashbuckler and Shadow sorcerer, I can almost play my current DnD character, the only thing missing is the ability to play as a hag.
Shadow Magic looks dope af! And so does Oath of the Crown
Paladins getting spirit guardians is insane, it has some absolutely ridicilous synergies with radiating orb itema in bg3
Oh man they’re gonna drop this update when I have no free time but I’m so excited!!! I can finally make some of my dnd characters officially, not just for fun in character creator.
Thanks for the info! The every class seems cool damn. can't wait to see what you will do with these as well.
i love larian so much 😭 my durge playthrough is a pact of the archfey bardlock. the glamour college is absolutely perfect for the fey vibes 🧚🏼♀️ can’t wait
tavern brawler thrower is already a really strong build in BG3, giant barb sounds like it will make it even cooler, especially if you are not limited to the couple of weapons that have the "return after throwing" property
Damn was hoping for a conquest paladin but fair play to larian for coming back and doing more for the game.
I could have sworn I seen that as an option in the article I read the other day about this. That and the Death Cleric are the ones that caught my eye.
33:44 yesss Bladesingers!
I take any excuse to start another playthrough or two (or ten), but that's by far the best one so far 💕
Same 😅
A one level dip in death domain cleric will pair nicely with bladesinging wizard. I wonder if we get sapping sting too. It's a necromancy cantrip that forces a single enemy to pass a con-save or take minimal damage and be knocked prone.
Hell yeah, Larian No.1!!
For hexlock, there’s a little part where you said choose a subclass for sorcerer in the beginning of that section :) - amazing stuff as always dude
you have no idea how i miss these type of videos and i know i said that so many times i just love these video of yours :) !
Thanks much
I never finished the game I might now with. Death Cleric Dark urge. It just feels right now.
Great video, Wolf! Hexblade might be my next playthrough. But Shadow Dragon the Shadow Sorcerer has a nice ring to it! LOL!!!
Thanks Shadow
Awesome I'll be able to test out the deathknight build.
Fighter 4 (Eldritch knight), Death domain cleric 1, hexblade 1 and the rest necromancer.
There’s a mod out for full death knight class, should be available through the in game mod manager.
Thanks!
Swashbuckler rouge sounds fun can't wait for that
Aaaarrrrgggghhhh! fiddle me timbers 😂
It is out as a mod now, it is fun.
swashbuckler- "pocket sand!!!"
Praying that Larian doesn't drop patch 8 in the extremely busy month of Feb 😭🙏
I believe you already can with custom party,...the halfling barbarian shortly after launch was done this way
Just now I realise how much I miss your Lore/Class Videos. They are so magical and inspiring, I love your work wolfheart sama
Thank you
I finally got Alfira to join the party and went through the process of doing the level ups so that she matched the party level............I got the Durge scene almost immediately after
I sure hope this will get me invested in another class than my usual build (paladin thrower) because i cant help but play the same way every single time
Gonna be using Shadow sorcerer, Drunken monk, hex blade, giant barb and death cleric.
Love it
Best way to support Larian beyond game purchase- get others to buy it now that it’s cross platform or go buy Larian merch! Bless these guys . Great update video , thank you!
7:50 "Who doesn't want to blow up corpses?" I mean, I don't, at least, not until after I've had a chance to loot them.
lol
Hahaha, I heard "The Grammar Bard"
😂 That would be one annoying bard.
@@WolfheartFPS Not necessarily. Imagine some kind of literature prof, intimidating and brilliant, knows everything and their magic looks like that of the Carrionites in Doctor Who's Shakespeare episode - just less witchy, but with a lot of chalk dust on everything. 🤔
Surviving the Game as a Barbarian playthrough. I can't wait!
Oh and the superior Dark Vision as well as the darkness spell both come from the "Eyes of the Dark" feature.
I’m not the biggest fan of circle of stars Druid in 5e but in bg3 will definitely become one of if not the strongest Druid subclass due to its all round versatility
0:40 "Home of bards" sub: Home of BS - seem fitting lmao!!!
“LARIAN GIVE ME A ALFIRA ORGIN CHARACTER AND MY LIFE IS YOURS!!!”
I would like a few more options in the custom tab for a new game.
The amount of replay-ability is almost unreal. So many different ways to make a character, and different ways a situation or battle could end. My only gripe is that there aren’t more acts and areas to explore.
Nice to see a company that isn’t afraid of adding a paladin. Looking at you, Diablo.
I like Beast Master with a cleric of Lolth war cleric dip personally. Its nice to use crossbows and poisons and spiders
Looking forward to every single new subclass! Can’t even pick which one sounds more interesting than the others!
Always eating good when Wolf posts, especially if its a BG3 vid!! Also, crazy how Larian continues to spoil us, can't wait to do another run!
Appreciate you Amber!
Well done Wolfheart. Great vid!
🙏
I love the monk one. I play brewmaster on wow and sounds the same so it sounds fun!!!!
Circle of stars is my favorite subclass in all of DnD-to say I’m excited for this would be a massive understatement
Can't wait to give it a try
Glamour Bard, ArchFey multi class INCOMING
Giant barbs sound OP as hell, considering how strong throw builds are already,
For the cleric domain spell my money is on destructive wave. Tempest get it for the thunder damage, light get it for the radiant and death will get it for the necrotic variant
