From the advent of video capable DSLRs to the low cost cinema cameras we have now, I feel like camera tech for video shooters has hit a plateau. Makes me wonder if anything will get better than what we have now?
Yeah definitely. Dynamic range and colour space is still bad in most DSLRs/Mirrorless cameras. The ability to shoot high quality video in compressed, small but data rich formats is still a big area for improvement.

yup i have thought about that whole mount situation with panasonic for quite a while now and i wish they woul dhave a fix for it. i don't know if the new z cam mft mentioned that possiblity of switiching mounts. so it might be feasible?
Photographer’s definitely need ND filters. I just had a shoot 2 days ago that the Sun nearly ruined because it was so bright out. It gets expensive having to purchase ND filters for various MM sizes for the 85, 50, 28-70, etc…. So having a built in ND filter would mean you never worry about leaving your filters at home when a sunny day can ruin your 1.2 shots.
Grab some step up rings & that solves the problem

Micro 4/1 is one of the most adaptable mounts but there is probably a flange distance issue with Sony E and Panasonic L Mounts.

L mount and MFT are at different flange distances, and MFT is the shorter of the two. So it's highly unlikely one could adapt MFT lenses to fit the L mount as many lenses would have to be recessed in order to function, and many would hit the L Mount or any type of recessed adapter.
Yeah that plus they would be neglecting the people who want to update from the other MFT cameras when you could instead use adapters and benefit from MFT lenses and every other lenses.
I used MFT cine lenses on an S1h using a adapter and had no issues.
@@KurruptedDataYouT What adapter, because despite a fairly vigorous search I was unable to find any MFT to L mount adapter. Maybe you're thinking M42 to L mount? Maybe even 4/3 to L mount, but MFT would require the MFT mount to be recessed inside the L mount of the camera. The only thing I can think of is perhaps the lens mount of the lens it self was swappable between MFT and L mount, because that would be possible, but I would have to see the MFt to L adapter before I believe this.
As a weekend warrior photographer. Built in ND's would be awesome. Especially when doing mixed light shooting with the 85mm 1.4 :)

Regarding the Canon patent for built-in ND filters, do you think this could sway Sony and other camera users to switch to Canon for this unique feature?
why would it? Sony has much better internal electronic automatic controlled variable ND already in the fx6, fx9, Venice cinema cameras. It is just a matter of time until it is added to lower tier Sony cameras.

The L-mount wasn't originally designed for their micro 4/3 sensors, given the already abundant range of lens choices available. They have undoubtedly excelled in the micro 4/3 realm and established themselves as leaders in this field.

L mount was never meant for their micro 4/3 sensors. There's already way too many lens options. They're the best in the game at micro 4/3.

S5ii is going to be companion to SH1ii… The mft is for people who aren’t interested in FF.
Buut it would suck to buy expensive L-mount glass , deal with added bulk and wheigy, and then not even use half of the image circle. MFT is also wayyy more established and gives you way more lens-options for a fraction of the cost🤷🏻♂️

Micro SD cards are as fast as normal SD cards (you can get V90 speeds in both) probably they will tend to overheat faster, though.
On another note, Panasonic also has a patent for internal ND filters and even Sony just released the Burano cinema camera with e-mount, internal ND and IBIS, so at this point it seems that Canon is the slowest one...
A $25K cinema body VS a $4K mirrorless camera having NDs is vastly different. If Sony managed to throw NDs into an updated FX3, that’d be a different story. They likely won’t though as it would kill sales on the FX6

Companies know that many beginners, amateurs & photocheaters (using pc) want to shoot videos & a little with stills.
So they are still in a stand still for the tax/fine for real camera that can shoot beyond 31 minutes.
What are you shooting for more than 31 minutes single take? One of the longest single takes in a major motion pictures is less than 6 minutes. There are the couple of well known "single take" movies, but I guarantee you they are illusions, they did indeed, turn off the camera plenty of times to make them. Also, when I run even my oldest 12 year old plus Sonys on tripods on shore-power, they record indefinitely, which isn't useful for much but behind the scenes b-roll just whirring away while I do other things in short bursts for actual takes. What is causing you to stop at 31 min?
My micro sds are faster than my full size sds 🤣 that’s because of Walmart. I never understood why Walmarts full size SDs are slower than their mini SDs and then Best Buy NEVER has anything in stock. Best Buy should just become a 100% online business at this point. The only thing they have in stock is tvs and washers and dryers and refrigerators…They’re becoming Walmart. Their motto is “WE CAN ORDER THAT FOR YOU.” IF I WANTED TO ORDER IT I WOULDN’T HAVE COME INTO THE STORE BEST BUY! I would have just ordered online from Walmart (or Amazon 😒) duah
I apologize for disagreeing with you and I think that you just need to look at the new Sony A9 and realize that this issue of a brand reaching the podium is only a temporary thing! Today a certain brand launches something new, but a few weeks later the competition launches something even further ahead. For me, living in days that the new tech is blazing flast to innovate, I prefer to look to the ecosystem of a certain brand and Canon is at the presente day the least attractive to be in!

It would be not a good choice to do. Imagine putting an EF mount in front of the M4/3.. First you would have to waste money to buy EF glas which is mire expensive and bigger/havier. Second you waste so much resolution. Since ef glas focuses the light on a FF sensor but in front of an M4/3 sensor you would maybe get like 8mpx resolution from it and lose light.
Haha, lol. Good joke. What really matters most is the availability of lenses. An open system is what prevails in the end. A closed system is a dead end.

Making mft l mount makes no sense because there are tons of mft lenses out there. We mft users dont want to switch to l mount.

Sony makes Canons sensors which is mainly why the likelyhood of implementing a global shutters is low.
All camera companies could benefit from useful features and a ND filter is one of them.

I'm sorry but built in ND's is definitely not going to be a factor of me leaving Sony. Don't get me wrong they are great but that's not something worthy of ditching an entire ecosystem over. Especially when a matte box works perfectly fine.
