  • Lots of ceramics in today’s video, plus the lacquerware panel I’d been eyeing for some time was reduced to 110yen (75¢). Super happy! Nice surprise to also find the frame was a vintage designer item…probably has more value than the lacquered piece itself✨
I’ve added estimated prices in USD($), so you can gauge how much things cost😊
Thank you so much for watching and hope you enjoy the content🥰
    - Regular BOOKOFF branches sell books, comics, sometimes DVDs, CDs, LP records.
    - BOOKOFF SUPER BAZAAR branches tend to be bigger and sell clothing, shoes, bags and anime-related figures.
    - Then…you have the mega large-format SUPER BAZAAR stores that also handle household items, furniture, electronics, musical instruments, sporting goods, baby goods, art, jewelry and more!
Make sure you check the branch info on their website before you go! There’ll be icons of what kind of products they sell listed under each branch.

Thrift stores give such an interesting insight into a culture don't they? Loved the laquer panel. I don't always love laquer but that piece is beautiful. Great video again!

Was so looking forward to your current video. I love everything you show us, and such a wonderful culture/history/geography lesson that comes with it! I am still marvelling at learning about the stand for the tea whisk from your last video. I'm firming up plans for a visit to Tokyo later this year (from Toronto) so am looking forward to exploring some of the places you have introduced us to. Thank you.

Hi there ! In Showa period, especially 1970 to 1980's , tea cup sets and plates/vases were used for souvenir gifts from weddings or company events. That's how many were unused and maybe still in beautiful boxes. Some households had 4 or 5 boxes stuck up in kitchen corners. Also be careful about assuming some of the paintings & arts as Japanese. Many are Made in China.

Does anyone have recommendations for thrift shopping in Japan from overseas that doesn't involve high shipping fees like Buyee? I gave it a try, but the shipping costs ended up being quite a setback.

All items at Book Off Super Bazaar are pre-owned and most of them used, ranging from 20th century vintage to contemporary.
