Almost 50% of South-America speaks portuguese (Brazil). 50% Spanish (Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, etc.). Some speak both along other minority and indigenous languages.
We are a little shy in Sweden, we don't want to say anything embarrassing. But every swedish kid has to learn some french, german or spanish in school. So we all know some words.

What I can see about Spanish is that it's a language many people don't take it seriously, I mean, it's popular but people only take a few lessons, school or on their own but at the end of the day they will give up or not going to complete it, so most likely they only learn a few words, that's what I feel
