- The quirky vertical boilered locomotive 'Perseverance' which lives here has an outing to Newmills. Hauling a Penrhyn Fullersite wagon and with numerous stops along the way, the trip was reminiscent of the old local goods trains which would stop to pick up freight numerous times en route.

beautiful footage of a rare goods working on the LSR
what a cute locomotive! :D
Great locomotive, I have the Mamod Vertical Boiler model, 1/19 scale, that is about like the originalAll the best, Fabrizio
Very very very very video!!!!.,
wait so thats what happend to at after rainhill(this is a joke)
Enjoyed this video. Might go and see her myself one day
I think Perseverance sounds very different to the LSR's more usual quarry Hunslets who have more of a loud chuff when they are going up the line
Quirky little locomotive.
But I guess that the boiler and steam engine are used in a different way previously, see the unused worm gear on the crank axle.
Maybe they were used for some sort of hoist or crane were a lot of torque was needed, hence the worm gear to multiply the force of the engine several times and also create a slow controllable movement for the cable drum.
I also noticed the stone arch bridge with a steel or iron top part, never seen such a bridge before.
The engine looks very similar to the one we have on board SS Freshspring for moving the valve gear on the main engine. You get a reasonable view of it in this video ua-cam.com/video/1lmiBrNxzu0/v-deo.html
Well it's quicker than some of the Intercity 125's I've ridden through Cornwall!
Any details on this at all?
Great fun! (chain sounds a bit tight, or in need of lube)
WHERES WILL HAY, GRAHAM MOFFATT AND MOORE MARRIOT !!! ???.
