Growing up we all wanted: A teacher like Mr.Keating A therapist like Sean Maguire A friend like Genie A nanny like Mrs.Doubtfire A father like Peter Pan and a hero like Popeye. Thank you Mr.Williams for gifting us with these amazing characters. May you rest easy.
I’m a teenager who’s just watched the film. I have just had the exact experience as you did. This film is beautiful, transformative and an utter revelation. R.I.P., Robin.
I love this guy's intelligence and his way of talking. So rare in pop culture, almost makes you wonder what that culture could have been instead of what it is.
"Seize the day, gather ye rosebuds while ye may. Why does the writer use these lines?" "Because he's in a hurry!" "No! Ding! Thank you for playing anyway!" Even in a movie as profound and touching as Dead Poets Society, there are still so many small moments of humour and Robyn Williams was able to perform both the dramatic and comedic moments so well! One of my favourite scenes in the whole movie is when Todd receives the same deskset for his birthday that his parents bought him the year before and Neil throws it over the edge of the building then says, "Don't worry, you'll get another one next year". Those small bits of humour that break up the tension in the film are a testament to excellent script writing.
Exactly! That’s what I was thinking when I watched it for the first time. It’s so refreshing to have a laugh after something melancholy happens in movies and Dead Poets Society did it perfect
Fun fact about the desk set scene, it was actually thought of by Ethan and Robert (the actors for Todd and Neil) after they filmed the scene the boys thought it was kind of silly and thought there was no way they would put it in the movie and they did! I thought it was perfectly done!
I WAS a teacher for a few years. I was no Mr. Keating. But I did inspire a few students and like to think I was a good role model. I communicated very openly with them and let them know early on that I didn't take myself too seriously and never talked down to them. I enjoyed working with my students, it was the other teachers I hated.
Her name escapes me at this moment, and I’m sorry; the interviewer is fantastic. She is empathetic, and has a rapport that allows for a more intimate conversation. Her stunning ability to hold back allowed for a better story.
Oh, I'm so happy that Ethan felt like his character in this movie ❤ specially about his last scene where he says: "O captain, my captain"😭. That one made me cry seas!
Greatest movie of all time. Incredibly thoughtful & moving comments by ethan hawke. There will never be another like robin williams, may you rest in peace
Dead Poet Society is my favorite Robin William's movie. I did not watch it until 2011in my high school English class. I bought it a year later after I graduated but I had got held back when I was 19 and stayed in high school until I was 20. I was happy I watched this movie it was amazing. I watched this movie after Robin Williams died with my mom she enjoyed this movie also.
I literally just gone done watching Dead Poets Society for the very first time a few hours ago. I really liked it, I too remember Mork and Mindy when I was much younger, God bless Robin's Memory and Ethan and All those that Robin touched in a positive light,
we should see death as part of life, and respect his choice. He has lived enough, and he had a terrible disease, so the life he was going to live was not good. There was a lot of pain. If he decided that, its just because he preferred not to live that, and go away with what he did live.
He had been diagnosed with lewy body dementia which is kind of kind of like Alzheimers. it messes with your brain & in some cases gives suicidal thoughts.

Carpe diem, as a young teenager I saw this movie in the theater, those words would stick with me to this very day, seize the day indeed.
You know, I use carpe diem all the time - because of that film

dead poets society is such a cinematic masterpiece, honestly.
When I first saw this movie, I *wanted* to be Robin Williams’ character. I wanted to teach English for high schoolers and be that inspirational.
So did I. 😊
Me 2 bruh

Ethan Hawke as Todd Anderson was the reason I love Dead Poet's Society.
Ethan is one of the most underrated actors and gentlemen of our time.
Ethan Hawke is an actor. Not a movie star, but an actor in everything I've seen him in.
And Robin Williams..........well, it's still to soon.
Her name escapes me at this moment, and I’m sorry; the interviewer is fantastic. She is empathetic, and has a rapport that allows for a more intimate conversation. Her stunning ability to hold back allowed for a better story.

Holy EFF! Feels like Mr. Williams left us just yesterday. What a soul! May they tread gently on him on the other side.
it's really about smiles and cries.
This movie helped me remember my passion for poetry when I was struggling to feel it again.
An incredible film, Peter Weir is a master....and Robin Williams is with so many of today
Hawke is a smart man and a great actor !
Robin Williams was a natural especially the cast crew and friends he developed over time were simply amazing.

i love that Robin Williams was a real teacher to all the younger actors while filming this movie. 🥰
O Captain! My Captain!
"Oh Captain, our Captain"
Exult O shores, and ring O bells!
But I with mournful tread,
Walk the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.
Wish this interview didn't end. He would be a great guest on a podcast.
Ethan Hawke brings Robin Williams back, I believe Robin lives on in those that he inspired, mine everyday!
Ethan delivered the most exquisite performance in this film.
