I think the median salary is more important nowadays especially in tech. There are people who make an enormous amount, but these people are just programming all day without having any other interest or hobby in life and they have been doing this from age 6. For the majority of the people, this life is not feasible.

This doesn’t take into account cost of living or other factors, so it’s not super helpful.
The rental fees for some apartments in NewYork or LA range from $2000 - $ 3000+. That being said, if you're a decent Software Engineer, that probably doesn't mean too much trouble for you (varies depending on your pay, of course).

This is not accurate. I think ,in US, gave a higher salary for engineers and otherwise it's too much better in all that because their authorities provide well off apportunities, in that way i love USA...., and i would like to go there for higher study ( software engineer).....

Don't even think about working in Norway, you have to pay 50% TAX and everything is damn expensive. You will end up having peanuts in your pocket at the end of the month, no savings at all. Best country is USA, you can save at least 3-5 grands a month.

Zakaria Bar' I don't know. I never have been in Florida not I don't have much knowledge about it. However, very good friend of mine lived in Fort Myers FL and he discrete the cost of living pretty cheap compare to California. But Tempa is bigger city. Best luck to you.

I’m in Computer Science in Quebec and going to Software engineering after that (Yeah it’s hard in my province to be an engineer): It’s around 50kCAD at the beginning and it goes up really fast with the experience; The median of salaries from people who have a degree in SE is around 80k or 95k depends of where you go ect... are u seriously claiming that 3 big companies and some unicorn startups can bring average salary up to top 10 considering how large China's population is? its fucking 1.5 - 1.6 bil. that means there's probably thousands of other shitty ass companies u never heard of which can barely pay their employees salary. and since u mentioned in canada, there may not be a huge tech companies like apple in Canada but I know for a fact that they definitely get paid 70k on avg if not higher. I know this cuz I go to engineering school in Toronto and every upper year students I see get offers around 90-100k. since its average, it totally makes sense that it sits around 70k
The list doesn't take into account stock options in their compensation I bet. Alibaba had one of the biggest IPO's ever meaning their employees did well. Yes software engineers in Toronto make a lot but that could be said for any big city. Even if China has a huge population the list talks about software engineers and software engineers in China are all-stars.
