I played baseball with Chris as a kid and he loved the car washes we'd put on to raise money. He just didnt want them to end. It was pretty crazy, he'd run one most weekends for fun and even during the winter he wanted me to help him put on a carwash. We lived in Minnesota and it would be freezing and he didnt care. Good to see him still washing cars.
I'm not going to watch a 23 minute video on washing a car... 23 minutes later: Wait, is that it? Nothing earth-shattering I didn't already know, but this video is just awesome. Great explanations and demo. Perfect amount of information without rushing or been boring. These guys rock and Jay is the best as usual! Thanks!
I read this comment before watching and couldn’t agree more now after watching
Detailing videos without all the clown shoeing….very satisfying.
@tatocorvette Your comment screams desperate for attention, and a thumbs up… Simp
I can't believe how good that paint looks for a car this age. Simply remarkable
These guys are as dedicated, knowledgeable and detail-oriented in cleaning your cars as your mechanics are with repairing and maintaining them. Amazing work!
hey Jay I've been watching you for 40 years and I'd like to just give you a hug
Great zot! I just realized it's been 40 years for me, too!
Yes we are aging as fast as Jay while he eats his samich
Looks at filthy car outside.
Decides to watch Jay having his car cleaned.
The crappy cars we all can afford to own aren't really worth cleaning.
I bet you'd do it if you had your own personalised buckets though :)
@@johndavies8946 Jays shop is so large, the bird poop may been an inside job! Are buckets in merch? New business; screen printing buckets!
Was going to wash the truck and the Buick. Weather says rain tomorrow. Always sunny at Jay's Garage.
@@terry94131 The good news Terry, your truck and Buick may look like they came from Jay's garage! He wouldn't miss those two. Tim Allen says Jay has 600+ vehicles with some outside and others in storage. The bathroom in his building is the size of my 1 & 1/2 car garage. I lost my big garage when moving here but the wife wanted it. It is sunny in his garage. It's the glow from 130+ trickle chargers.
I love this type of video and seeing the professionalism of these guys.
Great demo/tutorial! Seeing the masking process, and the polisher demos were really helpful for me.
It is healing to see a car wash/detailing job turns a car from "please clean me" into "look at me!"
Clay bar and using a polisher has been extremely stressful to me and so I never did it, but now I feel better about it and will try my hand at it over the next few weekends....a sincere thank you to your guys and yourself for making this video.
then dont clay is like very fine sandpaper and can ruin your day
These guys are PRO'S Just beautiful results.
The 356 looks fantastic in Black! I think the 918 looks best in Black too!
Jay, you're team is pushing out contents like a champ!
Chris and Jeremy, you guys are true professionals. I studied the application process for a DIY normal everyday driver.
The Porsche 356 Carrera 2000 GS happens to be my favorite car in Jay's collection. The video revealed a lot of important detailing advice that prioduced fantastic results. Jay looks slimmer.
As Jay said in a previous video, he most often just dusts off the cars to not put any water to it, but actually exactly this creates such terrible swirl marks.A wet car dried with microfibre cloth and then driven to dry out certainly will not be damaged by a water cleaning.
I think he's worried about rust in the nooks and crannies, and that's why he doesn't like water.
@@theundergroundlairofthesqu9261 in such a climate like California, after a wahs, driving the car dry during 10 minutes or let it 15 minutes in the sun cures any humidity at once, so not a real argument. In Northern Europe's terrible climate it's another question
Great job, the car looks amazing.
I had no idea liquid dish soap was bad for automobile paint.
Thanks for the tip Jay!
strips all the wax off, kinda what it is designed for... found out the hard way...on my Harley, of course...
I have a cheap Corolla, so I don't care about washing it with dish soap.
yet mechanics in the MotoGP paddock use it for everything...
@@tedsmart5539 that doesn't mean it's the right thing to do. It's the VERY worst thing for car paintwork.
@@tedsmart5539 they are mechanics, not owners, not detailers.....
At 12:00 the Detailer mentions maybe going to a Body Shop to test the polisher on an old an old body part. That's a good idea, or you could do what I do, which is to test my polisher on my neighbors car.
The old neighbor trick 😂
Would love to see a full detail of the Carrera GT - including engine bay cleaning!
Beautiful car in every way. Thx Jay and crew
I would love to see the detailing of the Lamborghini countach. I really enjoy your content Jay
Jay, since you asked, I'd like to see your Pierce Arrow detailed, because my maternal grandfather worked at the Pierce Arrow plant on Elmwood Ave. in North Buffalo--he might have worked on your car. 🙂
One of the most beautiful cars ever made. If you have a Ferrari 250 Lusso that'd be nice to see detailed, especially those borani wire wheels!
Dang….This guy takes car washing to a whole different level.
No doubt it seems that way to most people, but among detailers this is a fairly average day’s work.
I really enjoyed these videos. Those two guys are great and very natural on camera.
What????😂
Be keen to see one of your 70’s - 80’s spoke wheel motorcycles detailed & paint corrected
Yes! A motorbike detail would be a great next video.
One of the best things about detailing your own vehicle is you can often catch little problems before they become big ones. On my motorcycles, for example, it seemed there was always a fastener or two working itself loose. It's mostly simple, mindless work, and for me at least, very therapeutic.
Fantastic looking Porsche!
Thanks for sharing, its a beautiful car. well done everyone.
Great video on how to detail a black finish. Thanks.
What a car, Thank you Jay, those guys work magic, not as easy as it looks
Of all the cars Jay has that’s my favorite. I have been trying to buy one for 40 years. Even when 356’s were affordable, this was a fortune and so hard to maintain.
I've been using your products for quite some time. I like them.
Heyyyy, You stole my bingo dauber method of applying the Polish to the pad & body 😂, 30 years !
To be fair Jay, this process is easier said than done . The first time l used a polishing machine on my mk 2 M.G Midget way back in the warly '70's l left burn marks all over the place ! Back then it was T-Cut or Brasso and coarse cutting compound and very heavy , single speed machines . But practise makes perfect .....so they say ! Since then l've won many accolades for my restoration skills . And today we have a miriad of machines and polishs for all finshes . Thankyou Jay.
Love this channel, and I love everything you post on youtube..
That Porsche is so beautiful and now even more classy and elegant. And I don't even like black cars because they are so difficult to keep them clean and shiny. Nice work guys 👏👌💨🏁
its funny that i just got my driving licence and im looking for a 1k car and im looking at those works of art 🤭 Anyway You're the best Jay , always remember that 🚗🌹
Jay did you spill your coffee down the side of the door? Com' on tell us the truth!
😂
2 creams, 1 sugar. 😊
jay never drinks coffee
Jay drinks motor oil
@@brucemurdoch1708
And steam oil 🛢
Mr. Leno ..Outstanding...!
Great job guys 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Very satisfying. Thanks, guys!✌️❤️🙂🇨🇦
When I was in college in the early 1960's the 356 was my dream car. My first Porsche was a 1971 911-E which was a great car but today at 81 I would still like to have a 356.
Gorgeous little car. I would love to see the new Ford GT detailed. Stay awesome!!!
god, this is master piece, love this car so much, my dream car
Hey Jay! How about detailing one of your Steam Cars like the Doble or White. With so many different materials, brass, leather, paint and chrome it might be a lot of fun to see that done!
Love to see the contach done
These 2 guys truly look like car detailers!
Nice to see that they claimed that they would wash it before they do a paint correction rather than just "wiping it down" before polishing like they did on the McLaren. Maybe they just had a check up from the neck up to basic car detailing protocol. ...regardless to them justifying why they did not clean the McLaren.
I worked at several carwashes as a kid. Even got to drive a Pantera off the line. One of the highlights.
Beautiful porsche!!
You guys make it look so easy!! ;-)
Jay, how about an engine bay cleaning/detail?
I love this car.
The products look Jay Leno's garage are making the Porsche fantastic. I love the creeper chair
Detail one of the brass era cars!!! 😍
This is exactly how I wash and detail my Corolla every Friday afternoon. Nice job guys!!!
Honestly I kinda want to see a Corolla that well kept!
I’d like to see what could be done with the paint on the ‘50 Plymouth Suburban!
All your videos are great!
Wow, pretty high level of bathing your car. It’s all good. Great job
Maybe detailing one of the older cars from the 30s or 20s could be interesting. Especially with the bodywork from the era.
Jay, would love to see a wash and detailing of a classic motorcycle. With its insides exposed, I’ve always found it more difficult than washing a car. Also worried there will be hidden moisture/eventual rust so I rarely wash. Thanks!
I guess a man has made it well in life if you're bucket has logo on it while others clean and detail your Porsche. Nice.
Products and techniques worked well; quite noticeable difference.
Amazing detailing beautiful job
I buy your stuff at Walmart and use it on my Vette. Good stuff! Wife loves the smell!
Great job!
Good morning. Very cool and helpful video. If I may suggest I would like to see the guys do a detail job on the 1999 Corvette you have. Take care my friends and keep these wonderful videos coming.
It's very helpful, and great job, I just hate putting machines on a finish, unless VERY careful and skilled.
How about detailing the Citroen SM? Such an interesting car.
Looks awesome 👏
Excellent "how to" video. I've seen others on this topic, but the explanations of the "why" for the steps is quite helpful. The specific multi-bucket technique and the comments on clay mitts vs pads were enlightening. As the owner of an older black Porsche this video was inspirational - just maybe I can get my car looking close to that good. Btw - did they wax the car? I am curious about Chris' recommendations about waxing the car, both materials and techniques.
Absolutely helpful and entertaining to see it be brought back to like new 👍👍
Awesome!!!
I would love to see the detail on one of the 1930's cars. I think that would be fascinating and one can learn about paint back then, maybe how to clean nickel plating and brass. Thanks Jay!
The 70s soft-core p 0 r n music makes this perfect with my Saturday-morning coffee.
I would love to see your team do a full detail on a motorcycle with lots of chrome.
Please do more of these how-to videos.
If it was just dust, why couldn’t you use a quick detailer instead of using water? I use Maguires quick detailer on my cars for light dust bird droppings bug splats with a microfiber cloth and it seems to do a good job
Same here
Thanks for sharing Jay! Enjoyed the VW video.💯👊👍
First you say don't use dishwashing liquid it's harsh on paint, then you go ahead and use high pressure water gun at 50 psi, that would really destroy rubbers and all micro areas of windows, paint joins, and overall micro destruction of paint lacquers , opening up scratches . This fad of high pressure water hoses is one among many stereotypes of error.
Great job guys 🎉 , more detailing vids please !
The Bugatti Atlantic type 57 would be a real treat to see detailed!! Great video Jay 🎉
Another great J Leno video
I want those Jay Leno buckets!
How long did it take?
Any simple tips on cleaning the inside of windshield and rear window?
Have used several products and still see smudges.
Beautiful car.
This is kinda funny for me, as a kid I got to wash some cars, mostly my moms, without having the slightest idea of what makes sense and what doesn't - and most of them did not look good neither before nor after, really. Looked better after, but not by a huge amount, the dirt was gone but then you'd see all the swirls and imperfections in the paint. Later when I had cars myself I never had the time, place or stuff to clean them by hand, so just a drive through automated thing was enough, when they got dirty enough. Now I'd have the time, but no longer have a car, nor would I be able to do any of this stuff, I'm stuck in a wheelchair. So it's all stuff I never did nor ever will get to do, but it's one of those things that are sort of satisfying to see anyway. In the unlikely scenario that someone asks me how to clean a car, I would have a sensible response: find a video of how pros do it and try doing the same 😛 good luck.
Jay, did you use any ceramic sealer on top after the polishing? And- how about a video on cleaning up any of the challenger's that you have. Thanks for the info you provide!
I thought I could snatch one of Jays bikes, certainly NOT the Black Shadow:]
Looking at these guys, if they were to be cleaning the bike at the very moment I would walk in, Id say my body would need some detailing done after they would be done with the ehmm bike :dddd
Hi Mr Leno. I called and left a message at Big Dog Productions. My name is Anthony Poirier from Winnipeg Canada. I'm a limo driver and you have graciously called me many times and we have talked.
I sent you pictures of me and my nephew but think it's my son when we chat lol
Been looking forward to hearing from you again
Do you let different detailers detail your cars since you have so many ? Have you looked into dry ice blasting any of your undercarriages ? I would love the opportunity to come out and do one of your vehicles .
I would like to see one of your favorite cars - the Duzi detailed :)
Interesting last step you guys did using a microfiber pad with your jeweling compound you know, I’ve always felt that once you correct single stage it actually has more pop to it than clearcoat car in my opinion, especially if you put an awesome wax or sealant on. I wonder how a resin-based coating would do one single stage like this I would assume it’s pretty porous?
a little tip they didnt mention is DO NOT USE WHEEL CLEANER WITH ACID ON UNPAINTED POLISHED ALUMINUM RIMS!!! if you do they will become dull and not have that chrome look. especially on motorcycle rims. you will have to get aluminum polish and you dont want to polish them cause you have to do it by hand.
Love yeah Jay
Please feature your Panhard et Levassor Dynamic. I have admired it for years, sitting in the background of several videos. Thank you in advance.
❤great video
Good work, inspired me to detail my 1990 MX5, unless you can send the guys over to Australia to do it for me.
Back in the mid 90s I would use Murphy’s oil soap for the older cars. It did its job for what for what I needed.
