    My MF-20 (3 cylinder perkins diesel) is just barely able to creep along now even though the engine and hydraulics are running fine. I'm not sure if I just need to adjust the clutch or if I have a worn pressure plate. Is there anyway to tell between one or the other? Thanks.

Im looking to buy a 1967 Massey Ferguson 135 Perkins diesel and while test driving it it grinds when engaging the engine pto you have to basically force it in and when you try to engage the ground pto it grinds and won't engage. Would adjusting the clutch aslo help with this? Thanks in advance for any help.

      Mine did the same thing. I loosened off the pedal and tried to move the shaft as described. It felt kind of springy and didn't really want to move in any meaningful way. When I tightened the pedal back on to the shaft the clutch isn't engaged at all and the pedal just falls to the floor.
      Any idea what might have happened?

    • @FarmDad

      That's a 2 stage clutch. By adjusting the Freeplay on that pedal, it adjusts the actuation of both stages, one being transmission, other being pto.

  • @ianrobinson9565
    @ianrobinson9565 10 місяців тому

    You were fortunate to get away with adjusting the clutch pedal only. Clutch pedal adjusting gives correct clutch throw and throw out bearing clearance. As the main clutch wears the clearance between the Primary and the Secondary Pressure Plate increases. That means that the clutch pedal reaches the floor before the PTO clutch releases. Adjust this by 3 setscrews in the Primary pressure plate. WITH ENGINE STOPPED, remove bottom cover plate below the CLUTCH and adjust each setsrew in turn. Turn engine over by hand to get each setscrew at the bottom. On a Massey Ferguson 35 the clearance is 88-92 thousandths of an inch. On a Massey Ferguson 65 the clearance is78-82 thousandths of an inch. Hope this helps.
