I do a TON of shopping for soap supplies online and eBates lets you get rebates at nearly every major online retailer, including Amazon, eBay, and Etsy. I literally save money just by opening up a tab in my browser via their link. I have already received a check from them within the first month so I just thought I would let you guys know about this since we soap makers and DIYers buy so much online! Plus, it's free! Yippee! :D

So sweet! We didn't have much money for Christmas presents and my kids made Sugar and coconut oil hand scrubs for their uncle, aunt and grandpa... They're older but felt pretty accomplished with their gifts... I love that we were able to use kitchen products we already have with the essential oils on hand too.
Great video, I will have to keep some soap base on hand so we can do this when ever there is a need for a gift down the line. ❤

I would like to see a vid where people wash their hands with the soap they created to see how the ingredients perform against water and skin, and of course, how it lathers & cleans. It is afterall, soap and must clean without needing to be cleaned up afterwards.

My kids are teens now, and are loving the process, but I do wish I had done some when they were younger. (So many crafts/so little time. But I would like to add that I would like to see your own MP designs/techniques just as much (if not more!). You do such wonderful things with your CP soaps & I think it would be great to see some of your ideas for working with MP. They are both such great mediums to work with; and each have different ways to execute the designs. So would love to see some 'Katie' inspired MP Soaps. 😊

What can u add to the soap to keep it from turning brown when you
Add herbs or flowers. Did yours turn color?

I know this is a three year old comment, but in case anyone is curious calendula holds its color really well in soap, even cold process! Most botanicals will go brown in cp, even just sitting on top. Some are okay in melt and pour, but most go brown even in melt and pour soap.

ok so i'm wanting to do this but with different scents and what not. does the "citrus melt and pour" smell like citrus and can I choose to go with a different melt and pour? if so, will it affect the look much?
sorry for all the questions!! I'm just starting with all of this so i have no idea what i'm doing

Is using a ceramic knife easier for cutting the soap? I also wonder if it would be better for cutting cold process soaps I can't afford a soap cut so just was wanting to see what you think

You know you can cut soap with wire and two dowels?

I have a cheese cutter . Has a base and you can mark lines. It is affordable too.

    • @WendyPowellClarinet
      @WendyPowellClarinet 6 років тому +3

Some melt and pour bases harden up too much for a typical cheese cutter and could bend or break your metal strings. That is why Dean Wilson always scores his soaps like Katie did and then cuts with a large knife. I find that it cuts easier if you spray your knife with alcohol every few bars...

Wen Pow I have used both and not had an issue. But that is me. Miter boxes also helped with straight line cuts. I use cheese cutter it always for hot and cold process soap. Good point be care and choose what works for you. Trial and error ..

Yeah I have been looking for a cheese cutter but I can't find them now I want it. I live in Australia so it's a bit harder to find some stuff for soapmaking. Thank you everyone who answered me 🙂

This is so great! It's so visually satisfying. I don't wanna make soap the tools look very expensive, and I don't have time. However, I love watching you make them! Thank you.

Ok, this might sound weird but the soap kind of reminds me of underwater views of ponds or rivers and I am obsessed with that!

i was trying to find the oil, but it says in its description that it's not soap safe...so I'm a bit confused, as later on it gives a small allowable amount in soap?
