As a Spanish-speaking kid who only watched the show for a very short period of time, it blew my mind to finally see and understand the meaning behind "XLR8". The pun was lost in translation so for us the name was just a literal series of letters and numbers (equis-ele-erre-ocho)

I remember watching the pilot when I was 4 years old. The part that really stuck with me is when Ben said "If I can figure this thing out, maybe I can help people. I mean really help them. Not just, y'know... make things worse". Ben's characterization of being a runt and a screw up who wanted to help people and have fun really resonated with me my whole life

Oh boy, it's been a hot minute since I seen the OG Ben 10. I had all the episodes on DVD but their scratched up so bad because how many times I would watch him as a kid.
Had a family number named Ben and he LOVED this show. We used to play Ben10 but my sisters and I def didn't know enough about the show to get all the piece accurate so we learned the lore through him

I love Ben 10. I feel sorry, because with all the superhero boom in 2010's, Ben 10 as an big budget superhero action franchise could work pretty well. Especially since older generation that remembers 1st episode premiere, like mine, would pay any money to see it made.
I love to rewatch the series, especially the pilot, because I love to discover how planned ahead the series was. Especially with Max's behaviour and reactions. Great writing

I love this franchise to death and it's comforting to know that even after nearly 20 years the original cartoon debuted, they still have a massive worldwide following. Although, there are some things I would've done differently and one of them is probably gonna be my most unpopular opinion: Ben and Gwen shouldn't have been related. Because even as someone who didn't support shipcest, I couldn't help but grow up thinking "why did the creators make Ben and Gwen cousins instead of just friends? They'd make the best couple!"
Yeah, they were originally friends but the creators needed an explanation for why they're on a cross country trip with his grandpa even though they fight all the time which would explain why their interactions were so awkward. Like imagine a casual viewer watching either of the Ben 10 shows and thinking "are they dating?"
So I googled "what if Ben and Gwen weren't related?" And found a fanfic that asks that same question and it's pretty much retelling the whole series but with that answer. But what he did was make their dads, instead of being brothers, are BFFs who are so close, they consider each other brothers and Frank calls Max his honorary father. And Gwen looks like what her original "pilot" still image was. The important part is that she has blue eyes instead of green eyes like Ben's. Because both kids love Grandpa Max but hate each other, their dads make them go on this trip with him as a way of finally getting to bond. Would it be too forceful for parents to do? Yes, but it's something the creators should've done, especially since the way they were written in the earlier episodes could be awkward sometimes.
If they've done it like this, they could be together. But I don't want them to necessarily become endgame. At the end of the day, they have wildly different interests, especially since Gwen goes off to college in the beginning of Omniverse. I would then have them break up because they're too busy doing their own things that even their superpowers can't get in the way for. Gwen eventually starts dating Kevin and Ben already has basically a large harem and starts dating around with each of them. Maybe he even realizes his sexuality when he starts working so closely with Rook. Hahahahaha!!!!
The Ben 10 writers also aren't the best at romance plots. While I accepted Kevin dating Gwen since they acknowledged the things he did to the Tennysons and spent more time developing their relationship as the franchise went on, I remember Julie not being that interesting of a character and I hated how Alien Force devolved Ben's personality back to his 10 year old self. AND how he and Julie broke up. AND how he and ESTHER broke up! And don't get me started on how lazy his developing relationship with Kai was!
They just act like cousins who grew up together imo.
There is no other cartoon that beats Ben 10 sad they ended
