@Malone the packers have had 2 hof qbs since 2000 and only have 1 sb appearance to show for it,they wasted some of the best years of rodgers and farves career
John Elway threw the biggest temper tantrum in the 1983 draft, I still think that Marino should have been picked before Elway. That's my Hot take of the week.
Ken OʼBrien would have to be one of the top draft rises. Some newspapers had him going as late as the sixth round - rating him below Southern Mississippiʼs Reggie Collier who went to the Cowboys in the sixth round with pick number one hundred and sixty two. Even the Sacramento Bee, based near OʼBrienʼs UC Davis, did not have him going earlier than the third round. Yet, as we all know, OʼBrien went to the Jets in the first round ahead of Dan Marino. For a draft rise of that order, OʼBrien was not that bad in the NFL, leading the Jets to three playoff berths. Collier, contrariwise, attempted a mere twenty-two passes in the NFL.
Thurman Thomas sounds similar to Nick Chubb Bigger guy infront of him (Sony Michel) knee injury that made draft stock plummet, and showing up for the team that drafter hkm
DK Metcalf, after his outstanding performances in the combine, cone drill not withstanding. And that photograph he was touted as possibly being a top ten pick and then fell all the way to the last pick of 2nd round. Go Hawks
@@davisjohnson7691 DK's injury history wasn't the main reason he fell in the draft. DK was perceived to be just a workout warrior, with stiff hips, who couldn't change directions fluently( cone drill) questionable hands , and a very limited route tree. HC & GM'S thought even though he killed the combine he lacked the skills to be a top receiver the injuries just reinforced their assesment of him . Go Hawks
@@eddisonfoncette9103 that was just overscouting. When he was on the field, he was dominant. He had horrendous QB play as well. 6’4, 240 w/4.3 speed that translates to the football field. It happens a lot. Derrick Henry fell to the 2nd round because of overscouting as well. Sometimes you just gotta trust the tape. Go hawks btw
Malik Willis' slide was much worse than Pickett, who was probably a reach in the first round. Some pundits had him going as high as sixth and he ended up getting drafted late in the third round. Based on his play as a rookie and how he didn't really play anyone in college, we shouldn't have been surprised that he fell the way he did. A more obscure example, though this slide came about because of the player's decisions, is Matt Barkley. Had he declared for the draft after his junior year, a lot of pundits had him going in the top ten, including a few having being the top pick. But after a weak senior year, he fell to the fourth round and has been nothing more than a mediocre third stringer that's somehow still in the NFL.
No telling what he would have been. He went to the perfect situation in Green Bay. He had no pressure on him to start right away, and he got to watch how one of the greatest ever worked. Guys getting rushed on the field a lot of times causes failure
Rodgers falling is so embarrassing considering how important the QB is, but I'll take that back if Will Levis falls outside of the top 10 and makes it to Canton or outperforms his QB classmates, as I firmly believe Levis is not worth a top 10 pick in this draft.
40 years later I still have no idea why the Patriots took Tony Eason (#15 pick that year) ahead of Dan Marino (#27 pick) in that draft. The other two quarterbacks (who didn't make the hall of fame) drafted ahead of Marino that year were Ken O'Brien (#24 pick by the Jets) and Todd Blackledge (picked at #7 by the Chiefs). Of the three (Eason, O'Brien and Blackledge) at least O'Brien was a solid pro QB.
Everyone thought that Marino had a cocaine problem, and the video soft-peddles how bad his senior year was. Pitt was preseason number one and ranked no lower than third for the first 9 weeks of the season. They stayed in the top 10 all season DESPITE their offense. They struggled to score, posting gamed with 3, 7, 10, 14, and 16 (twice) points. The defense gave up more than 20 points only once all season, and held teams to 7 points or fewer in 7 games. Despite having a great defense, and Marino, they lost 3 of their last 5 games. The year before, Marino's best season, they scored 35 points 7 times, and were held under 20 just twice. Between the cocaine rumors and massive drop in team offensive production (despite returning almost everyone), Marino's stock fell.
7:37- there's NO WAY that Dez Bryant would've gotten 1st overall even if he didn't have the situation involving Deion Sanders... WR's RARELY EVER GO #1 OVERALL... I believe there's only been 2 WR's that have EVER gone first overall and that was _Irvin Fryar_ to the New England Patriots in 1984 and _Keyshawn Johnson_ to the NY Keys in 1996 and obviously it hasn't happened since then
Fields slipping to 11 will soon be considered a slide, especially when a QB from the same college like Stroud goes (1) way earlier than him, and was (2) not as good of an overall prospect as Fields.
Strouds a better thrower of the FB. Fields has a much higher ceiling, but Strouds floor is much better. Fields lacked the polish Stroud has. All scouts have to go on, is what they showed in college.
Pickett did not slide at all, if anything he got picked higher than most ppl thought. Go look at mock drafts from last year. No one had him inside top 15 other than like 2 ppl
Kenny wasn't a surprise though? I didn't know anyone who expected him to go in the top 15 regardless. His age was a factor that kept expectations low. I dont even remember watching anyone who thought he would be drafted top 10?
People thought there wouldn't be a single QB drafted in the first round and the general consensus was, if it was going to happen, it would be Pickett to the Steelers, which happened. He didn't slide, he was chosen right where people thought he would

Man Eli Manning started his player entitlement before he even took an NFL snap 🤣 by refusing to play for the San Diego Chargers who still drafted him number 1 overall and had to trade him for Philip Rivers, who went number 2 overall now I think the trade worked out for both sides Eli went on to win 2 super bowls and lead the league multiple times in interceptions bt he’s the QB other then Nick Foles that can say I beat the G.O.A.T in the biggest game and ask for Philip Rivers, he’s a San Diego legend and an LA legend who has been to one AFC championship and is a multiple time pro bowler, and the first ballot Hall of Famer and currently 6th all time in passing yards bt let’s be honest here thts an embarrassing moment as well
Hey there has been a trend the past few years with 1st selected QBs: Burrow drafted in 2020 broke out year in 2021, Lawrence drafted in 2021 broke out in 2022, Pickett drafted in 2022 and he’s gonna have a breakout year in 2023. The same will go for Bryce Young although Bryce won’t fall in the draft like Kenny did.

Warren Sapp & Randy Moss should definitely be on this list
No mention of Geno Smith? He showed up to the draft in person and was projected to be the first QB taken but fell to the second round

So many great receivers from that draft were taken late.
He also had *massive* injury concerns (he had broke his neck at one point). Understandable why teams would be a little jittery about drafting him
