Older 4-Runners so much better than the new ones. Had a 95 and it was awesome. Wish I had never bought my 5th gen Trail Premium 4-Runner, nothing but junk!

Quick question if I can get a hold of you. So I have been reading that the 96 model is missing 2 of the body mounts that the other 3rd gen models have did you install the aftermarket mounts or did you install with what you had? and If so did you have any problems?
Had a question? Since your running 2" bl did you have to make any adjustments to your shifters? I justed in installed 2" bl and feels like the slop on my shifters
With the addition 2inch body lift, did u have any stretching issue with brake lines, radiator hoses, anything like that??? And did the body lift leave a gap between your bumpers and body??? Thanks!

Nice truck. Curious how those tires worked out with those factory rims. If I remember the factory rims are only 8" wide. I'd think those tires are pretty wide for that rim. Just curious how that worked out for you. I'm down south of Springfield.
Hoodlm13b Thanks. I've done this quite a few times without any issues. I've also heard people say you can't run over side tires on stock width wheels but like I said, I've done it many times and never had an issue.
Cole Russum good to know that someone has done this without losing the beed. I hate to buy new rims for larger tires.

I have the exact same roof basket and a 2016 4runner, how do u mount the LED light bar to the roof basket??? Did you have to make your own bracket to mount the light bar??

You said those were the stock rims, so what size width were the 35's? I've been trying to see how big i could go with the stock 16x7's.
Russell Kirkpatrick if there stock rims on the runner like he said there most likely 10.5 width on them and tires are probably 12.5 width

Im getting a 3" suspension lift and 2" body lift aswell... Im trying to decide on 33's or 35's cuz i would like to save the money with 33's but idk if it would look weird?
Aidan Painter If you're only going 33s then forget about the 2" body lift. Only need 3" for 33s.

After you did the lift, do you have any issues with rubbing and was there any issue with the differential? And did you have to get longer brake lines? I have a 99 3.4 and I want to do all of this to it. And what size are the tires? Thanks
The tires rub on the front when your wheels are fully turned a little. But that can be fixed with a small amount of trimming some plastic in the wheel well. (Tires are 315/75R16 or 35x12.5x16) no problems with the differential. Extended brake lines are an option when lifting your vehicle but with a 3" suspension, by no means to you need to add extended brake lines.
Can I put 35s on my 99 with a 2.5 Daystar lift?
@@kikosmith2088 I highly doubt it, ur gnna be rubbing insanely. Possibly 33's and still have to trim, you can do it with a 3in spacer or suspension lift in the front and 2 in the rear, you may have to do very light trimming like this. But 35's forget it just wont work.

Like around how much would you spend in lifting it to look that height and to buy those tires and rims
The rough country suspension lift is 250$ and a 2" body lift is about 200$, so around 450$ for 5" in total
The Tires were probably around 200-225$ per tire and the rims were stock so 0$

I have the same lift setup exactly on a 98 and im torn between trying to fit 35s or just going with 295 70 17? what do you think? Awesome 4Runner by the way
In my experience, 35s fit nicely with this lift. They rub when you're turning fully, but not a lot. Any rubbing can be fixed with very minor cutting of plastic in the wheel wells. I also had 1.5" wheel spacers, which are necessary to fit 33 or 35" tires on the front. Without wheel spacers, the tires will rub on the UCA.
Thanks for the reply I have decided not to go 35s, do you think 33x12.50 would rub? The 295 70 17s are a good fit cuz they equal out to an 11.60 but i can get a better deal on the 33x12.50s thanks again

Looking to buy a 99 in the next few months and spend some time moding it. going to be our road trip and light off road truck. going to be pulling a 2 person travel trailer. Any recommendations on what i should do as far as lift and pulling weight?
The lift depends on how much money you want to spend. You can get a Rough Country 3" suspension lift for $250 which is what I had on this. It's a good lift kit, I've never had any problems with them. You can get a nice kit from Toytec if you want to spend a little more money.

How good and reliable are the 1996 2wd ones?
I have a '96 2wd. She's going strong with 248,000 miles. No issues. I bought her for $2100 and installed a new radiator, plugs, ignition coils, master cylinder, rotors and upgraded the pads. I've done very minimum on the interior but installed a Kenwood receiver with BlueTooth and upgraded all of the speakers. I will eventually install a few subs, crossover and amp to push it. Next up for her is a 3" suspension lift, 3" body on some 33's for a mean stance. Last things will be a FlowMaster exhaust and a royal blue coat of Rhino Liner for the exterior paint.

Charles McCarthy Jr probably Toyota's come with 4 10 gears and the 5vze or 3.5 that comes in it has plenty of power.
Gabe Forney some 3rd gens had 4.10s, not all.
