I thought “step ups” were a bad idea because they reduced clearance, but I was unaware of flat profile and angled up ones. Im convinced I’m getting them now. Thanks for the info.
Excellent video. My Cali Raised just arrived today. My wife and I just returned from the 2023 Toyota Jamboree in Gilmer TX. Cali Raised was there and I was able to see them on their 4Runner. I kind of knew the importance of having them while off roading but your very detailed and informative video answered all the questions

What kind of rock sliders would you guys put on a 3rd gen 4runner or 1st gen tacoma? You mentioned Cali Raised LED & Westscott; however, those companies are no longer making the sliders for the older toyotas! I need top names in the game! These older toys; including an 1985 EFI 1st gen 4runner, that are pristine and hangar kept, all need upgrades for the apocalypse! BTW, all these Toyotas mentioned are all manual transmission 5speeds and 4X4!
Never , never use rhino lining and similar materials…it stains hold dirt and impossible to clean and keep cleaned.. What I do after every washing? I use a black can of spray paint , use cardboard’s against the body from over spray..

Rock sliders does a great job of protecting the lower body panels…but expect a loss of gas mileage ! You will notice it too!
