I am almost 6 years late, but what an incredible season and consistent performance by FlaSh. Can't give enough shoutouts to Tastosis for the best English casting in the business. Tasteless and Artosis are why I love watching these seasons.
Winning only one game vs Flash must feel like a win in and of itself. And they way Hero won was by brute force! You can see it in Flash's play that he was rattled!
That was a great series. Flash plays at such a high level that I can see why some people would call this "boring"... it's almost like the game is imbalanced in his favor. That said, that game 3 was absolutely amazing. Hero's comeback reminded me once again why this game is more than just a game, and is still going strong 20 years later. And also why it's not always about winning or losing - but about the heart with which you fight. And Hero showed a lot of heart in that game, and in this series. He gets a medal in my book. Great commentary from Tastetosis, too. Thanks for upload.

The drops worked mainly because Flash was overextending. Hero hit a good timing. Notice how Flash's lead seemed to snowball just before the drop, for seemingly no good reason. This was not because of Flash's macro, it was because he went for a super economical strategy, and I suppose also Hero was turtling and expanding slowly. Now we know that he was planning for a doom drop. This strategy was probably pre-planned to an extent and Flash played into his hands. Terran don't do well when they're spread out thin and on the defense. Doom drops is a good strategy in the matchup, but it's not the solution to ZvT.

When your greed cheese is hard countered by an aggro cheese, it's just checkmate. Hero should have GGd as fast as allowed instead of allowing Flash to play with him.
Ok, it's getting a little bit ridiculous with Flash wins :D In my opinion though, the problem is not the balance of the game as many are arguing. I can agree that when played absolutely perfectly, Terran has some advantages in some situations (nicely listed in other comments). But that shouldn't be possible in a game like SCR, playing perfectly I mean. And it is also balanced by Terran being the most difficult race to execute in the game. At high pro level the game is more about who makes less mistakes than actual races as I see it (of course maps and strategy play some role too, by having better strategy you can get ahead without making less mistakes). That's where Flash comes in. He plays the potentially strongest race, makes almost no mistakes and his execution/macro/micro is always spot on. If Terran was really imba then you'd have lots of Terrans at the top. Which is not the case. You just have Flash at the top who makes playing the hardest race in the hardest game look easy. You have to realize that no one is able to do what he does and that is kinda amazing! But for me it makes watching StarLeague less fun, for example I only watched the first two maps of this final series because then it was clear which way it would go.
It's so funny to read these 3-year-old comments about how terran is OP. Yeah, vultures are op, scan is op, tanks are op as well. And plague, dark swarm, consume, mutas, cracklings, recall, stasis, DTs, storms, mind control etc. are completely fair tools in comparison with "free mines". Lol. We could see how terran is op in last ASL seasons.
I tried to watch this live on AfreecaTV and the only English stream I could find was a guy translating, not Tastetosis. IDK what I was doing wrong but it makes me sad I couldn't find them.
I don't think Hero was too far behind at any moment. Even after he made the 8 lings, that was not all-in, he was droning already even before the SCV spotted them. At worst, he got 50 supply behind, which is surmountable with a solid 3rd and defiler. Before that, the tank push failed. Barely, but it failed thanks to muta switch. And the other winning move was the scourges to take out the dropship then absorb turret shots for the overlords. What Hero did was crazy hard because it's Flash, but he was never really far behind imo.
Why does flash hold water in his mouth like that? I wonder if it is to force himself to breathe through his nose at the start? The calmer you are, the more your imagination and higher cognative skills are accessable.

when you look back at the play here - from 2021 - the terran play is just on another level to what we have now. crypto scandal is a scandal for sure, but flash is on another level to any other sc player of all time
That's why I think all previous ZvZ in this season were like a lottery, and absolutely boring to watch. I might be all wrong, but Soulkey overall is better Zerg. And imho better than JD (at least in this season).
It boggled my mind how the zerg saw, that drop gave him HUGE advantage in game three and he didn't do it in other games. It's fucking amusing how you can literally drop 4 lings and 2 defilers into terran base, plague the shit out of terran building in seconds and literally forget about the siege, because terran won't be able to recuperate from this. Yet somehow zergs just don't give a fuck. It was so OBVIOUS that drops were the go to strategy and it was completely ignored. I just cannot wrap my head around it. After the drop was successful, hero just spammed lings, because I bet his brain was already fried from the fact that he did something useful. First game is mind bogglign as well. Cancel the fucking hatch, make 1-2 sunkens, 1 spore and power up on these 2 bases to reclaim your third. Dude is a professional yet he gambled like he's not playing starcraft, but a casino. Same stupid shit as first game of Larva vs Bisu. herO could've won that. Not easily, but zergs should start dropping terran bases a lot more. And start using the goddamn plague! So frustrating to watch such talented player ommiting one tactic and losing solely because of that.
I kinda agree. I don't know how he managed to win the 3rd game, I have watched it 3 times already. Flash probably just relaxed a bit after 2 victories. IMO, Soulkey should be there instead. I really disliked the way Soulkey dropped out because of these boring ZvZ fights. Pure lottery, imo. Flash, Bisu, Soulkey - gold, silver, bronze.
He couldn't even secure a third in any of the games he lost. He did not choose to not get defilers. He simply wasn't able to survive until he reached the tech. Defiler tech and drops are definitely powerful, but getting there is very difficult, especially against Flash of all players. He died at points where those aren't even options yet. "So frustrating to watch such talented player ommiting one tactic and losing solely because of that." Really?
That drop in game 3 gave him a huge advantage due to the timing of it, as he was switching from bio to mech, it was pretty close to perfect. Hero couldn't get a third up in any of the games he lost due to flashes pressure, how the fuck he supposed to get hive, ling upgrades, lurkers, defilers and upgrades and drop upgrades on 2 base and not get completely outmacro'd by the best macro terran in the game. Yeah I'm sure you know better than the zergs making a living playing this game "duurrr jus drop lings in terra base GG EZ"
your analysis of the first game is awful. He DID cancel the hatch, and made a sunk. more sunks would not have helped, and only would have put him farther behind than he already was from having to cancel an almost done hatchery. making spores would have crippled his economy to the point where he might have well gg'ed at that point. yes these players make mistakes, but to pretend that you understand the game better than them is pure arrogance. if you can so easily win with drops as zerg, id like to see you take out flash (not gonna happen in a million years bro)
I agree. I completely missed the cancel on hatch. Spores were a thing he needed imo. Wraiths completely wrecked him and for a reason unknown to me, he was running in circles with drones for a LOOONG time. I don't pretend to understand the game better than everyone else. I know it that I will never be as good as them, but I can always comment on stuff. Your last sentence is as big pile of shit as my analysis of first game, lul. It just makes no sense. It's like saying to anyone "if you know better, show it" which is pretty simplistic and stupid. Anyways. Given that we two are stupid in our own ways, and can go back to commenting, he could drop in 2 other games, he just didn't do it. He deliberately choose not to do it. I guess it was an immense amount of stress, pretty similar to what happened to Bisu - and it's not just me saying that. FlaSh himself on his stream said, that Bisu was stressed out and you could've seen that in his games vs FlaSh. herO was under way bigger pressure, so I guess it explains a lot. BTW - please take comments with a grain of salt - everyone is different, can have a bad/good day etc. ;)
Stim is just way too OP. If medics didn't exist stim would be fine but there's no reason why tier 1 Terran units should even be able to compete with, much less BEAT tier 3 zerg units. Why are there SO many dominant Terran players through the years? Boxer Iloveoov Nada Fantasy Flash Light Terran is just completely OP. Scans are OP, buildings being able to be built anywhere and lift off is OP. Vultures are just stupid OP for 75 minerals. Tanks are a 2nd tier unit and just annihilate everything. Why are terran tier 1 and 2 stronger than zerg and protoss tier 3 units? Terran is OP...
Yea, well said. Terran is such cheating OP race. Vulture can kill zealots and zerglings way too easily and they cost only 75 minerals. Their spider mines are also so OP as well. Bunker repair with multiple/unlimited SCVs is also so fucking OP. It's like having a cannon or Sunken that never dies. Stack all SCVs and repair a bunker. It reaches max hp in two seconds. Terran is also the only race with 3 different stealth detection; Comsat Scan, Missile Turrets and Science Vessel. Science Vessel is so OP as well. Irradicate can kill high tier units like Ultra and Lurker easily. And their EMP is so OP. Gets rid of entire shields of Protoss unit with one click? That is so OP. It's like losing half of life already. And Tanks are the most overpowered unit of all. Does too much damage with too long of a range. They need to nerf the tanks a little. Have less range and little less damage in Siege mode. Golithes are also OP as hell. They are pretty cheap to make and yet, their anti-air is too powerful. Golithes can easily kill top tier unit like Guardian which is so bs and OP. Their anti air missile is like on roids or some shit. And Ghost is also OP against Protoss. One cheap unit of Ghost can literally take on a Carrier because of Lockdown. I can go on forever but I'll stop here. Blizzard favors Terran the most. They were on crack or roids when they were making the Terran race. They need to nerf the F out of Terran in SC1 and SC2 asap.

Boxer
Iloveoov
Nada
Fantasy
Flash
Light
Terran is just completely OP.
They need to nerf the F out of Terran in SC1 and SC2 asap.
lowkey praying for a terran nerf cause you sick of flash wrecking fools
dandele123 this shit couldn't be more predictable, boring and monotonous than it already is.
No, it's so balanced right now. The fact it's the same person winning every year and that it wasn't a TvT shows it must be purely skill
I just hope someone better than Flash emerges. Its kind of boring now.
u cant play sc2 vs new gosu ? ok no problem . Play the game no want play anymore :))))))
SC1 > SC2 ;)
Those commentators are sometimes so annoying, I just wish they would shut up.
