I finished reading Miss Plum and Miss Penny several days ago and it was delightful! I am so happy to have discovered your channel and the Furrowed Middlebrow catalog. I finished reading everything by Barbara Pym a few months ago and have been looking for something of a similar flavor - and now have found it. Thank you so much!
I've been buying their ebooks for a year or two now. Someday I'd like to buy physical copies of my favorites. I want to make sure to support them, persephone, Virago, open roads media, lume books and so on. I just love the republishing output much better than new releases.
I’m so happy UA-cam recommended this video to me! I’ve added so many of these books to my wishlist and I know I’m going to learn so much from watching your videos.
I’m so glad you are talking about this publishing house. I love their books. I saw all their Patricia Wentworth books and immediately thought of you. I’m currently reading The Dancing Bear from the same writer of A Chelsea Concerto. I also read A Footman for the Peacock and at first I wasn’t sure what to make of it but I ended up liking it. I’m so excited you have so many of their books. So looking forward to your reviews.
I am addicted to the Dean Street press books! I started purchasing these I believe it was around 2013 and I have so many. I want them all! I put in for three Marjorie Sharp coming out in January and I believe two or three stella Gibbons which are also coming out in January. I love them!!!
I have seen these around before but I wasn’t aware how accessible they were in the US. The website is great! I have since order two of them to check out. I ordered A House in the Country by Ruth Adam and The Mingham Air by Elizabeth Fair. These seem like just the kind of books I love. My wishlist is now ridiculous too! :) Thanks so much for sharing this.
I have a feeling I'm about to spend a lot of money purchasing your recommendations ^_^ hehehe, I have ordered Miss Plum & Miss Penny, it's due to arrive tomorrow....thank you Prime :D I also now have a list on Amazon too with books you've recommended & ones I found which sound interesting :) I'll let you know how I get on, and how I get along with Miss Plum & Miss Penny!! Thank you for the recommendations ^_^ xxx
Those books look so appealing, I'm looking forward to your reviews ! Thanks for bringing this editor to our knowledge :) (PS : your necklace is very pretty)
I had no idea Patricia Wentworth had gone out of print! My mum has all the miss silver books in beautiful editions from (I think) the 60s/70s and whenever I've borrowed one I've enjoyed it so much it never occurred to me they were out of print! Glad that a press has picked them up for new editions though 😊
I love Dean Street Press books! I've read all of the Elizabeth Fair (on my Kindle) and then I have 3 D.E. Stevenson books (The Vittoria Cottage series) and I also have Miss Plum and Miss Penny (which I haven't read yet). I wish so much that I lived in the UK so that I could buy these books more easily. But, I love them so much and the covers are amazing!! I would love to cover all of the walls of my room with just these beautiful book covers. lol. Wonderful video! Thank you :D
@@lilsvintageworld My lofty goal is to have every Furrowed Middlebrow book in my book collection. Not sure if it'll happen, but I really want to try - lol.
You've introduced me to so many great authors -- thank you! Have you read any Muriel Spark? If so, any you'd recommend aside from The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie? X
oh that is lovely to hear, thank you. I have read a few Muriel Sparks but I have to say the Prime of Miss Jean Brodie remains my favourite, but I do still have a few of hers I want to read.
It looks like they did a great job with the covers. I was going to ask if they were reproductions of the original covers or if they were new covers done for this series? I love your enthusiasm, Lil. I can just picture your facial expression and your mind lighting up when they ask you "What books would you like us to send you? " ALL OF THEM!!! 😃
I think the covers are taken from different illustrations that go with them theme of the book...although I am not sure but they are stunning!! YES haha when they asked me which ones I would like it was very hard to pick!! My Wishlist of books from this publishing house is huge!!
I have just discovered your channel and am now a subscriber! I love the books you talk about.. makes me want to read them too :) I hope you'll give reviews on the books you haul 💜
I absolutely love everything about your channel, congrats! You should read a book called Madame Storey, by Hulbert Footner. Unfortunately it's really unkown to most of the people, but it features one of literature's first female detectives (and I would say maybe the best) and has a strong feminist sense.
Just discovered your channel as I was searching for reviews of Dean Street Press titles. I cannot wait to watch the rest of your videos!!

I'm almost sure it's already public domain
I will look into it, thank you for the recommendation
