Hey, I'm new to booktube and my first book review was of this book - glad you got round to enjoying it (as I did). When I heard you talking about it at the start, I was concerned!
Love 💕 your pup! I’ve never read D.L.Sayers, but purchased “Strong Poison” (on your recommendation) Almost finished with Agatha Christie and can’t wait to move on to Sayers! Thank you so much!!
A better experience on your second read is marvelous...what a pleasant surprise for you! Sayers has such a way of beckoning and pulling one in. Will finish her The Documents in the Case tonight. I'm a dog lover, too...we currently don't have one but really miss how they enrich life. Pretty green grass outside!
I have really enjoyed Sayers recently, she is just a marvel. Have you enjoyed your latest read of hers? Dogs certainly do enrich life, puppy is just such a good boy and he just makes me so happy
@@lilsvintageworld Agree 100%. I love how her mind worked. In my view she's the perfect anecdote for these times. Think after her I'll re-read Tey and du Maurier. The Documents in the Case was brilliant...quite different. I gave it a solid 4 stars. Would love more vlogs! Our interests are so similar and your vlogs are incredibly refreshing. 😊
Nice review! Yeah, I attempted it a few years ago and I guess maybe I just wasn't in the mood for Lord Peter's sass at the time so I didn't finish it then. I finally gave it another shot though, and really enjoyed it this time around! I agree too that although not bad by today's standards, the amount of detail about dead and decaying bodies was more than I was expecting.
Thanks for the post! I recently discovered some articles about D. L. Sayers and was intrigued by her vision as a writer. In response, I picked up Whose Body? and The Nine Tailors off of Amazon to whet my appetite. I just finished Whose Body? yesterday and I must say I do love her writing and appreciate her vision. I give it 3 out of 5 stars. I didn't go higher because I thought the ending was a bit vanilla. But high marks for Lord Peter Wimsey! He is a fun character to follow! Thanks again! And I hope you post more of these!
Ok I now really want to read this BUT I will be reading them in order and the only one I have aside from Whose Body? is Gaudy Night and I don't want to go out of order but I don't want to be without the next one to read once I read this one. Maybe I'll read this then just ask for the next for Christmas and try to be patient 😆. Wonderful vlog and I'd love to see more if you want to film them 😀❤️.
@@lilsvintageworld yes based on your review and a few others I think I will love it but with series I just have this "have to read them in order" quirk. Also isn't Gaudy Night set at Oxford? That was an extra reason to look forward to it because a. I find it beautiful but have never been there myself and b. I'm fairly certain it is my grandmother's favorite place in England 😆❤️📘.
oh shame you didn't enjoy it too much, hopefully you like some of her other works? I have only read one by Gladys Mitchell but I enjoyed it and will pick up some more of her works very soon
I also did not like Lord Peter Whimsey's books (especially the character) when I first read it. I decided to DNF the series because of that after the third book. After watching your vlog, I might reconsider giving the series another chance?
Have you tried watching any adaptations of the books? I did and think that helped me to understand him a bit better, as I really didn't like him too to begin with but now I love him! haha
I love your vblog ❤️❤️❤️
Yes, please...I'd LOVE more of your reading vlogs!

Yes I do find Sayers to be a bit more gorey then her writing counterparts
