Soooooo excited to see a booktuber plug a work of Appalachian literary fiction (Cold Mountain)! We are such a forgotten region in American pop culture.
The Pearl by Steinbeck is so beautiful! I read it in one sitting while at the beach! 🏖 And I am also planning to read 100 Years of Solitude and East of Eden this Summer! ❤️ Its going to be a great reading season! 😭
yesss....graham greene finally🎉🎉...I absolutely adore him...something light hearted and beautifully enchanting by him would be "travels with my aunt"...the story is about a man who after the passing of his mother meets his long-forgotten aunt and they go on various journeys together.. But my absolute favourite novel of his so far must be "Heart of the matter"...an absolute atmospheric masterpiece which takes place in westafrica. thank you again for your beautiful videos they always make my day!!!❤😘
Ooh that copy of One Hundred Years of Solitude is beautiful and in amazing condition! Can't beat a second hand find like that! Really enjoyed watching this haul and looking forward to seeing what you thought of the books in future videos. 😊
Thank you for another beautiful video! One Hundred Years of Solitude is a masterpiece. One of my favorite books of all times. I recently bought East of Eden and I can't wait to read it. Now I want to buy the Pearl. It sounds like a lovely book
OMG GRAHAM GREENE!! 😂😂 I've never seen anyone else talk about his works so I'm eager to see him get some attention haha I love Virginia Woolf!! To The Lighthouse is my fave (I got a tattoo of a Lighthouse to honour it a month after I read it 😂😂) I hope you enjoy The Waves it's not one that I've read but it's one I'm eager to get to!!
I so enjoy your enthusiasm and sweet spirit, Carolyn! A World Full of Dickens Stories looks lovely. If you aren't aware, East of Eden is Steinbeck at his most disturbing and depressing. I loved it, it's sweeping and magnificent, but it's a tough read. You may want to read his Cannery Row and Sweet Thursday to recover. Have you offered your Steinbeck portrait on you Etsy shop yet? Hope I haven't missed it! Thank you for making your always fun and interesting content. I'm happy I found your channel and am getting to know you. Sincerely, John
I really want to read Mrs Dalloway soon! Definitely this summer. The Odyssey is one I want to get, I've read the Illiad and once I got used to the writing style I really liked it. Such a beautiful illustrated Dickens book and a great idea
If you plan to read more Steinbeck, I want to recommend Travels With Charley (my favorite book) and Cannery Row. I think you will enjoy both of these. I love these books so much. Your channel is so inspiring.
I'm in Don Quixote. It may be the best novel ever?? The Odyssey is so good. Penelope at the end...I enjoy WHD Rouse translation of The Odyssey because he says, HickledeePickledee. Can't beat that.
I've read Alibis recently and it is by far my favorite book this year. Amazing poetic language and beautiful writing style. I am sure you will love it as well!
I am a fan of the used mass market paperbooks. Our fabulous used book store called COAS, has thousands. I usually go 3-4 times a year to add to my collection.
Great video 📚 thanks 📖 There are quite a few translations of The Iliad and The Odyssey ..I personally love the Alexander Pope one. .then again I love Alexander Pope's work 📜

What a gorgeous gorgeous childrens book!!! What a lovely lovely gift!! Maybe you two can become friends and meet one day!! Then you could write a story book for children on friends and illustrate it together!! I’m a dreamer, too!! 🥰✌🏻🤠
I’d never heard of the book or the author but listened to audible’s version because the brilliant Colin Firth read it! And I’m determined to read more of Greene’s work!
It's funny you mentioned Graham Greene, I have never read a book by him, and I was at our library bookstore and I saw his book, The Quiet American: and I picked it up because i had heard of him and really wanted to try it out. It is a Penguin Group book, (not sure what that means,) but it has a cover from the movie with Michael Caine, (who I adore,) so it was a win-win for me. I hope you enjoy your Graham Greene book.
If you are a classic movie lover, you learn that many of Graham Greene's books were adapted into wonderful movies. A good story translated well to the big screen is a sight to behold.
"A World Full of Dickens Stories" looks so enchanting! Jannicke's thoughtful gift is so touching :) Related to this: is the Dickens v. Tolstoy discord still live? Is there another way to find out the scheduled readings? I tried emailing and sending an IG message-- I haven't heard back, but I'd love to participate! Love your channel and I thank you for all you share here :)
The Waves is truly amazing!!! It’ll be such a treat for you since Mrs. Dalloway is my second favorite after that one. I can’t wait to read Hundred Years of Solitude with you! (I’m excited to read it after hearing Emma talk about it too). I hope you let your BookTube friends know when you’re planning to read it in advance ;)
the end of the affair will tear you apart, it's semi autobiographical and by semi, i mean mostly, and the 1999 movie adaptation with ralph firennes, stephen rea and julianne moore will rip whatever is left of you. mannnn id love to know what you think.
one hundred years of solitude is one of my favorites. and in my opinion it has the most beautiful ending of literature

OOooooooooo ... Great Haul!
You really should invest in a library card to feel the long traveled journey of a book. Or open a library of your own!
I got A World Full of Dickens last Christmas!
the end of the affair is a good book. The author has strong Catholics roots..
I’d never heard of the book or the author but listened to audible’s version because the brilliant Colin Firth read it! And I’m determined to read more of Greene’s work!
It's not an explicit book either. More psychological and emotional than anything sexual.
It's funny you mentioned Graham Greene, I have never read a book by him, and I was at our library bookstore and I saw his book, The Quiet American: and I picked it up because i had heard of him and really wanted to try it out. The Pearl is okay, but I quite enjoyed Cannery Row. I need to read a longer Steinbeck work, but I haven't gotten around to it.
If you are a classic movie lover, you learn that many of Graham Greene's books were adapted into wonderful movies. A good story translated well to the big screen is a sight to behold.
End of the Affair audiobook read by Colin Firth is divine!
My dear, did you ever read Machado de Assis? I am brazilian and I believe that you would love it if you read, specially Dom Casmurro. :)
oh wasn’t e. v. rieu the publisher that started penguin classics? 😄
Yes!
How long does it take you to finish one book? Have you read most of the books in your bookshelves?
Grapes of Wrath is incredible! I hated 100 years of Solitude it was awful but maybe I'm alone in that.
"A World Full of Dickens Stories" looks so enchanting! Jannicke's thoughtful gift is so touching :) Related to this: is the Dickens v. Tolstoy discord still live? Because you love the Met, I respectfully request you watch the re-boot of the Thomas Crowne Affair, starring Pierce Bronson and Rene Russo. Thx.
the end of the affair will tear you apart, it's semi autobiographical and by semi, i mean mostly, and the 1999 movie adaptation with ralph firennes, stephen rea and julianne moore will rip whatever is left of you. mannnn id love to know what you think.
An old edition from 2004 🙄😊
