And Matt You hit on a great point when you said Swings can and do change. And the thing about it is that alot of people in and out of baseball don't realize that the Smallest or minute of changes can make a Huge difference in any direction-All the way from really Bad to Really Good. "The reason hitting a baseball is so tough is that even the best can’t hit all the balls just right. To do so is a matter of corrections every minute, in practice as well as in the game." -The Science of Hitting
Show up before everyone else does at practice and be working on something when your coaches start arriving. Don't be afraid of hustling! F the losers who might call you a "try hard." Yes, that's a thing now according to my son. Lol Pick up the most baseballs when cleaning up. Keep your back straight and pay attention when down on a knee in the meetings. Don't pout when you miss a ground ball or have a bad round of bp. Yes, it all matters!
@@joeray5394 unfortunately I can confirm any kid who works hard now is called a try hard. Chris, if you want some playing time I recommend being a try hard.
You have to make the most of every opportunity you are given. Work on your skills on your own time as much as you can so that when you get that opportunity, you make the most of it and impress people. Work outside of your comfort zone. Don't work on stuff you already do well. Work on stuff that you don't do so well that you need to. I'll use my son as an example. He bats last in the order because he doesn't have much power. Although, he finished the season with an 80% contact rate. He only struck out once during the entire month of June in his 14u select league. He puts the bat on the ball more consistently than any other kid on the team, so he doesn't need to work on having a good eye or getting the bat to the ball or being aggressive at the plate. He needs to work on his load and getting more whip in his swing and driving through the ball harder. He also didn't slide well. His baserunning suffered because of it. I got him a slip n slide and told him I wasn't picking him up from his grandparents' house (where we set it up), until he could dive head first into a slide and make it 10 feet through the grass past the end of the slide. 😆 Now we have to work on his figure 4 slide. 😄
Matt you have taught me more about my swing through your channel than I had learned in the past 5 years, thank you
Hey let’s go twins
It boggles the mind how a great teacher like Matt can speak for 9 minutes straight and it's a brilliant lesson and video, no edits required!
Evolution. Your point regarding self awareness of the swing to evolve is very helpful. Thank you.

Matt can you do a video on how to build the elite swing please?
Excellent 👍
I did pretty bad in tryouts but still made the team how do I get the coach to play me and impress in practice thank you sir and God bless
Watch Matt's videos on the load in the swing , batpath in the swing and his tilt don't turn video. Then you should be good to go.
