- I started from the beginning with some common knowledge just in case you may have no idea what I'm talking about :) I'm happy to answer questions, and feel free to check out my other channel and other videos to see what your cymbals can look like if you keep em clean and take good care of them! :D
holy shit. he cleaned a clean cymbal... so the end result is... clean cymbal
John Bourgeois because that is all a mama's boy can do.
Hi John, the idea is to stay on top of your clean cymbals so that things don't get out of hand to the point where it becomes a pain in the ass to clean later on down the road. Peace brother and rock on 🤘
I have seen a lot of cymbal cleaning videos and this one is by far the best! it's very simple and straight to the point. A very basic and effective method that works, and of course the key is to stay on top of your cymbals like this guy is doing, especially if they are new. Thanks for sharing, I will apply this when I purchase my new Zildjian A-customs 😎
I bed to differ it took him like an hour to get to the point
Good to see someone take care of their shit. Nice to know I'm not the only one really particular about my equipment. Beautiful cymbals. Awesome you keep them that way.

OPPA GANGNAM STYLE!
weeks of watching ur video
i cant believe i see you when i search how to clean nice to see you again
Great job! I am just starting back and needed to see this. Thank you.
cover your kit with something when not in use as well helps
This over constantly polishing cymbals all day.
Any day of the week! XD
Will this work for marching cymbals as well?
I tried the ketchup method and I think it stained it,any way to get it off or at least some of it
Lmfaooo so i was watching this video and realized he looked like cooper. It is!!😂😂
it sounds goofy but maikeru01 is right. cymbals sound "warmer" when they are dirty, meaning they aren't as bright. Typically a warmer cymbal is more pleasing. Cleaning a cymbal may not change the sound enough to notice but it will make the cymbal a little brighter. But in the end, it comes down to personal preference.
And people DO pay extra for old ones, partly because the dirt and tarnish over the years has changed the cymbal's sound.
If they have a lot of dirt I recommend you use lemon juice (real lemon juice). It will take the dirt off quickly, then you can polish if you feel the need. Try not to use polish liquids too often.
How often do use cymbal cleaner to clean your cymbals or better yet how often would you recommend a person use cymbal polish.
THE OFFICE HAHA YES!
It is true. I've owned a few. It is better to save a little bit more for a better cymbal. ;)
i have yet to buy or try and evans hybrid marching snare head on a regular snare, will you test one out and let me know if its worth buying?
I have 50 year old Ziljian's. I always used Noxon. Works just as good. Never used water or fruit juices or vinegar, trouble is Noxon just disappeared from the store shelf. You have to buy a four pack from Amazon.
I was wondering, i see ur using beats by dre in your videos, are they worth it?
i liked your video a lot! thanks!
Does using different name brand cymbal cleaner affect the cymbal for example if i used zildjian cymbal cleaner on a sabian cymbal would that mess it up or ruin it?
hey mate, how do i take care of cleaning cymbals if they haven't been cleaned for about 2 years? are they still able to be bought back to their original brilliant finish or are they beyond cleaning?? cheers
cheers dude, really helpful :)
now ive seen some comments on the ZBTs Saying that they are crap is that true???
Yes
Barkeeper's Friend works great too. :)
How often do you use the cleaning solution?
@3:20 speaking truth!
Thanks this viedo really helped ;)
thank you very much!!
Any advice on how to clean traditional finish cymbals? I have a traditional finish ride cymbal which has small blotches scattered around the cymbal that have apparently been caused by sweat from playing shows & condensation from having left them in my car over night. Any advice anyone can give would be great 👍🏼
I wish I knew, but you should try looking it up.
hell, i do the same exact thing! but i use regular gloves so they last longer
Nice this really fucken helps dude, cause my cymbals look like SHIT!
will brasso damage cymbals
can you clean the same way with the hi hat?
What other products can you use to clean cymbols?
**personal preference of a brighter or warmer cymbal, i mean.
I feel really, really inadequate as a drummer right now. I do not have a batman shirt.
I don't think this is OCD , I think this is someone who is taking care of his investment !
The polish thing is just plain marketing. By experience I know it takes material off the cymbal, and after a certain time it will leave the cymbal with almost no grooves, that way the cymbal won't sound as it was supossed to. The first part of the video makes a lot of sense tho. If you leave dust over the cymbal it will stick, if you leave liquids over the cymbal they will stain. If you polish, try not to do it very often. Do it regularly and you'll regret it.
Ok the first thing you're gonna do is erect a level one force field around your playing area. After you've gone through no less then three decontamination cycles, proceed to the de-lousing room and put on your hazmat suit. Make sure your rigging is attached to the beam so when you hover yourself over the drums, you don't slip and fall. Gotta keep that throne free of butt impressions as well.
Now you're ready to play!! :-D
nice
can you get sabian polish?
For some reason I actual enjoy the small smudges and finger marks left on brilliant finish cymbal. Again I don't know why I just do :L
nice video amigo ;)
ah ok. is there any house hold items that won't ruin it
a lot of people dont know that Adam West played the drums
Not for all cymbals. I have an amazing 18 A series crash from the late 90s and I cleaned it for the first time about 2 years ago. I was afraid that it wasn't going to sound good if I cleaned it But it still sounded the same.
There really isn't THAT much difference between the sound of a tarnished cymbal than a clean one. Even a few years of grime will MAYBE dull the high end a touch, which you would hardly notice unless you did light tickedy work. This video is for maids, not drummers XD
batman is badass
@the13ephram uuuhh yeah.
nice pulp fiction poster ;D
I'm so stupid when i was younger i left the solution on and i wondered why it was dirty :(
Does this work for Zildjian ZBT's?
No, they will explode, don't try it.
How do you clean K traditional finish cymbals?
Karl Maanum you don't clean traditional finish cymbals
who doesn't love shiny cymbals? haha
I do :)
I was in another tab at 5:14...I was so confused...
Cool very helpful
He's gotta batman shirt on xD
Cool
Nooooo I didn't notice
Batman is a pimp
Dezzy Barnes he IS Batman
you should not take care of at least one cymbal so that it gets really dirty and you can clean a dirty cymbal and maybe do a "before and after" image
You should have seen the cymbals I used in marching band. they where awful I had to use brasso
I like how you take care of your cymbals, but your extreme!!! ha
Oxidation is the number one reason your cymbals get dirty.
WADA-MEWEN!
Meh, i have TRX MDM's and DRK Ride. i would only do this if i was trying to sell the cymbals or using in a music video or something...
i need to clean mine bad
i have a robin shirt
Hey cooperdrummer :D
I'm Robin...
Nice and uh.. fruity.
"the harder you rub the easier it will be to get stuff off" (HA!)
This is an example of OCD.
haha I have that towel...uh fruity
Yes it will, I destroyed my first set of cymbals that way. Don't use Brasso.
Ain't nobody got time for that
You do if you spend all day cleaning cymbals instead of... you know... playing your drums...
they sound better dirty. you're supposed to let them age. people pay extra for old ones.
You think THAT'S OCD? I know a guy who wears latex gloves every time he sets up his kit.
May I ask, is he actually any good? I have a theory that the most anal people are covering for no talent.
it does not work??? my cymbals fucked up
You cant clean the floor tom, its stick marks, you cant "clean" them
if only u were as rich as bruce wayne... :)
If you're that anal about your cymbals you aren't a drummer, you're a maid. XD
Seriously man, rock the fuck out of them and clean them good once a year or so like everyone else! They won't suddenly explode or anything! They just sound a little duller over time and cleaning them brings that back. If you have to have a mirror finish on a practice kit, you're spending too much time cleaning and not enough time... you know.... drumming...
this made me lmfao good vid though.
Do all drummers own a batman shirt? :/
4:28
"No reason to grab the cymbal." What do you do when the cymbal is flat on the ground? Eh, eh?
Step 1. Always carry an air cannon and some chopsticks.
Why before? If you cleaned them after every gig/practice there should be no reason to clean them before. Don't waste your time doing it before every gig, especially a practice.
The level of anal on display in this video makes me picture his play style as "metronome and basic beats" with no flair or soul.
Wow i think if one of his friends get on his kit and though his cymbals, he will probably kill them..lol
+DRod06DrumChamp LOL Woehaaa
you should clean the head of your floor tom instead.
Wax on, Wax off.
nope
oh jesus christ i was joking about that awful logo thing
I think you may have OCD
rofl
Who actually gives a shit about fingerprints?
If you have shit cymbals.
this guy has OCD
